“Alarick! Over here her scent picks up again this way!” Maleena shouts. I quickly start running towards her while I mind link Marcus.
“Leave two men at the cabin to take pictures and collect everything they can. Everybody else needs to come with me.” I ordered.
“On it.” Marcus answers back. Within minutes we are all following Maleena through the forest. When we reached a small clearing we saw a small shack. There are 4 guards standing and they smell human. I look at Maleena curiously.
“Looks like a hunter’s zone. I am positive LeeAca is in there.” Maleena says through a mind link. It’s a good thing her and Lucas mated or else she wouldn’t be able to mind link me All of a sudden we see the door burst open and women start running out. Some stumble and a couple are grabbed by the guards. We all start racing towards the women and now men and children and they all start to cower in fear, thinking we are with the hunters.
“Kill the guards. Make sure the people are safe.” I order through a mind link. I race through the doors trying not to tumble over people as I rush in. Maleena is following me, but I couldn’t care less. The only thought I have right now is getting to LeeAca. Once I reach the end of the hallway I try to smell for her scent, but it is everywhere and mixed with blood. I stop and stare when I go to turn into another hallway. There are at least 10 people lying dead. Maleena runs into me not realizing that I have stopped.
“Sorry.” She says. I pay her no mind as I listen to my surroundings.
“Come on baby. Come with Mommy.” I hear a shakey and hoarse voice speak. I also hear a child crying. I follow the noise until I see a woman holding a child. She stops and I can feel her fear of me.
“I am here to help.” I say with my hands in the air to show her I will not hurt her.
“She.. She.. Saved us. You need to help her.” The woman says point towards the end of the hall.
I don’t say anything, I just rush towards the room at the end of the hall. When I walk in I see a child on an operating table and four people lying dead.
“My babies, no. Not my babies. My babies.” I hear, murmured. I look around and see a woman, covered in blood, huddled in the corner holding her knees to her chest and hiding her face. She is rocking back and forth.
“Are you al..” I stop as I get a whiff of her scent. Gardenias and fresh rain. “LeeAca?” I ask as I take a step towards her. By now Maleena and Lucas walk in and are standing by the door.
“My babies. No. No my babies.” Is all she says and keeps rocking back and forth. Unsure of what to do I look behind me towards Lucas who might have an idea of what is going on.
“I think she might be in a coma-like state. I can feel her emotions, but they aren’t normal.” He says and I nod. I walk over to her and slowly crouch down. I touch her arm, sending sparks up my arm, and she doesn’t move. I move her closer to me and I still she doesn’t move. I sigh and pick her up slowly. The only thing that happens is that she stills in my arms then starts slightly shaking. I start to walk with her out of the lab. When we get outside I see all of the people are calm and are waiting. Some are being attended to by my warriors with some medical training.
“Is she okay?” Markus says as he walks up to me.
“My babies. Not my babies.” I can hear her mutter. Markus looks at me questioningly.
“I don’t know.” I answer.
“Oh.. Well I have mind linked others to come and collect the hunter’s lab as well. What do you want to do with the people that were freed?” Markus asks. I sigh.
“Have them follow us to the castle. I will figure it out when we get there.” I say and he nods. We start heading back to the castle shortly after.
LeeAca’s POV
I feel like I am moving, but I am not the one doing it. Like somebody is carrying me. All I see though are my two sweet angels laying on a table.
“…Wrong…her?” I hear muffled speaking.
“Not… think….. hurt…” I hear.
“Fen? Fen.. What’s going on?” I ask to get nothing in return. All I feel is her despair and hatred. All of a sudden I feel little tingles start to erupt all over my skin. It feels nice. I continue laying there for another couple of minutes when I remember what those tingles mean. I feel Fen bounce forward and take control then I feel my a*s hit the ground. And a big umph sound with it. We look up to see Alarick standing there with a shocked expression. I look around and see that everybody has stopped with a shocked expression. I get up and dust myself off and realize that I am covered in blood. Then the memories of the past days come rushing back to me.
“What the hell are you all doing here?!” I yell and glare at them all. Then look around to see that we are in a forest.
“We came after you! How could you be so stupid as to think we wouldn’t come to find you?!” Maleena steps out and yells at me.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I ask dangerously.
“I came to help track you. They would have still been searching if I didn’t come. You are seriously stupid for thinking that you didn’t need help.” She says angrily. Without thinking I march up to her and grab her by the throat squeezing.
“Don’t think that because you are blood I will tolerate your disrespect. I will snap your neck without even thinking twice about it.” I threaten dangerously and I see the fear in her eyes. I feel anger coming from the side of me and hear a growl. I look to see Lucas coming to save his mate from me. I threw a dagger at him and hit him in the shoulder, causing him to collapse. I hear gasps from around, clearly surprised that I am treating my family this way. I throw Maleena towards Lucas and resume walking. Too consumed with anger to listen to anything else.
Alarick’s POV
After LeeAca falls from my hands I freeze, not knowing what to do or say. Her demanding why we were here had me irritated, but I let Maleena take the brunt of responding to her. After all, she wouldn’t hurt her family, especially her sister. Mate on the other hand, I know that she killed her first mate for reasons unknown. I don’t want to risk that. Once LeeAca turned around I looked toward Lucas and Maleena.
“She won’t actually kill you. You’re her sister and she mentored you, Lucas.” I say, trying to calm everybody. When Maleena looked at me I could tell that what she had to say was going to be unsettling.
