Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 9 – Checkmate of Silent Night

“Yes, we both need to feed.” He carries me to the bed and says, “I’m trusting you, Serena.”

“I won’t let you down.” And surprisingly enough, I mean it. He has made me so happy, the last thing I want to do is disappoint him.

Lilith is pleased.

“And, I will remove your collar. You said you wanted to return to cater to me, and I’ve decided to give you that chance.”

“Thank you, My King. You are most kind.”

When he removes the collar and leaves to set it on the table, I stretch my neck.

Damn, that feels good.

Claus walks back to me and gives me a smile and a light kiss on the top of my forehead.

“Good girl,” he says.

We’re both breathing heavily. He walks to the bed and gestures for me to sit beside him. I do as he asks.

“You will go first. Are you ready?” My mouth waters, and I nod with enthusiasm. He gives me his wrist freely, and I take it eagerly. His blood is warm, sweet, and amazing. I suck and suck myself into oblivion and then, just as easy as it was given, I hear Claus say, “Stop.” It takes everything in me to stop, but I must establish trust, so I do as he says.

“Now, it’s my turn.” I hold out my wrist for him. “Can I trust you?” I ask.

He answers me with a laugh, then bares his fangs and begins to drink. It is one thing to drink from another being. A sense of control washes over you, as you know in that moment, especially with a human, that you literally hold their life in your hands. But when another is drinking from you, the feeling is just unexplainable. You are taken to such great highs, as if you are being removed from the planet and transported into heaven. We know the Christian heaven does not exist for us, so the act of giving blood is our heaven. It can also lead to very sexual behaviors.

When he finishes, he stands and stands me close to him. His body brushes against mine, and the gates of heaven open.

“You’re okay with this?”

I’m curious as to why he is asking, but I don’t question.

“I can’t guarantee our future, Serena.”

Neither can I.

He tucks a hair behind my ear, and the feel of his touch makes me shiver. It’s so quiet. I can hear his every breath as it vibrates through him.

“Let’s enjoy every moment together until it’s our last, if that is what’s to become of us.”

“Well, it’s not yet decided now, is it?” He lifts my chin so that my eyes connect with his. I shake my head, grateful that he is willing. I know why I’m here, what I have come to do, but my feelings and emotions are so strong right now, I just want to be with him until I can’t. It’s that simple. His hand slides down the length of my hair as his eyes gaze into mine. His expression is tender and longing.

“No, it hasn’t.” My words are an invitation. They sound so reverent, they could be a prayer. They sound so honest, they could be true.

His fingers trail my lips, outlining the shape of my mouth. He bends down slightly, and his lips brush against my cheek lightly. A shiver runs through my whole body, making me tremble. He brushes his mouth against my temple, then traces the line of my jawbone. He’s tender in his touch, and he’s driving me mad. The aching anticipation for his kiss is suddenly too much. I reach up and pull his mouth to mine.

He kisses me gently, carefully, but it’s not what I want. Not when our future is so undecided. I knot my hands in his hair and pull him closer. He groans softly, low in his throat, and his arms encircle me, gathering me against him. His skin is hot and inviting, and I revel in the feel.

All that exists now is Claus. I run my fingers along his arm, soft skin over lean muscle, and find a scar like a thick line on his bicep. It’s an imperfection that seems to make him even more desirable. “How did you get this scar?”

“Kai.”

I step back. “Kai?”

“Yes, we were dueling, for practice. and he accidently scratched me.

Accidently? I doubt it.

I kiss the scar and trail kisses from his bicep to his neck. He growls and fumbles to push my hair aside. I’ve never seen his hand unsteady before. He nuzzles my ear and then kisses it, growling lowly. I trail my nose across his jaw, inhaling his clean, primal smell. He releases a pent-up breath; the sound is music to my ears.

He’s letting his guard down, Lilith reminds me.

My pulse quickens into a fast beat, and my breath becomes heavy. I caress his cheek and kiss his neck. He moans. Or was that me? When we are like this, we become one vampire. I almost forgot what it felt like when we were truly together like this. We share every heartbeat, every breath. It feels as if the universe disappears, and all that remains is the two of us, holding each other close.

“I forgot how good this could be,” he says as he takes a step back from me.

“It was never this good.” I step forward and kiss him. “This is better.” I take a deep breath and say, “And I never want it to end.”

Now is your chance to pounce, Serena. Are you strong enough to take it? Lilith checks me, and it makes me pause.

What do I want? I’m torn. I want him inside me, taking from me all that he can, but on the other hand, I want to kill him and take my empire back.
