Chapter 90 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“What are you doing here exactly?” I turn towards Keenan and he wears a grim smile.

“I wait until I am given permission to take the rogue witches and wizards back with me to get them settled in.” He says and I look around. It does seem that there are a few here.

“You said that you and LeeAca have been friends for years. How do you know her?” I ask Keenan hessitantlly. The quiet as he mulls over my question makes me think he has decided not to answer, but then after what seems like an hour he answers.

“We met when she rescued me from a lab. From then on I have helped her with whatever she needs. I owe her my life and the life of my coven. We are connected in a way that is impossible. I can feel her presence even in my realm. It is nothing like a mate bond, so don’t get your panties in a bunch.” He says and I realize without knowing it that my aura started to seep out and I am emmiting a low growl. He then continues “They took my blood and hers, since we were their strongest experiments and mixed them or something. I am still unsure of what they did, but it gave me the ability to feel her presence, wherever she is. I only come when she asks or needs me to.” He says and I nod my head still slightly confused.

After a few moments, I see LeeAca taking people out of the room.

“What is she doing?” I ask and glance over to Keenan, Alpha and Luna. They look over at LeeAca and then down to the ground.

“Something none of us could do.” The Alpha says and I see the Luna squeeze his arm in reassurance. I look at them questioningly and Keenan sighs.

“She is taking them to the cells.” He says.

“WhAT?” I whisper yell.

“If you would let me finish. What she was doing before is assessing them. She feels their emotions to see how far gone they are emotionally. If they are… too far gone she takes them to the cells. She will assess from there how far gone they are and help them.” Keenan says and I nod my head.

“I need some air.” I say and as I go to walk outside Keenan grabs my arm stopping me. I look at him and He smile sadly at me.

“This way.” He says as he leads me out of a small door in the back of the building. As we step outside he leads me to what looks like a cemetery.

“What are we doing here?” I ask and he shushes me then points straight ahead of us. I see LeeAca standing before two people. Before I could ask again Keenan speaks.

“Alpha Jorian said that she does what we cannot. She takes their sin. She reads their emotions. If they are insane she cures them. If they wish to join the goddess and plan to do it themselves, she takes that sin from them.” He says.

“So she kills them?” I ask.

“Only the ones who need to be set free. The ones who cannot live in this life will be able to live in their afterlife with the goddess. She kills them, yes, but in doing so she saves them.” He says. I stand there watching and tune into the scene in front of me.

“Think of your mate and the way they used to smile. The way they made you laugh. The love you had for them and they had for you.” LeeAca says as she steps behind the woman. I see a small smile spread across the woman’s face.

“Honey, I am coming home. Thank you.” The woman says as she fades out. I see LeeAca lay the woman down and go to the last person standing. She does the same thing and lays them down. After which she picked up a shovel and started filling the holes.

“Why did you bring me out here?” I ask, turning to Keenan.

“She shouldn’t have to bear this alone anymore. You should see that everything she does, she does for a reason. Not because she is unstable or has no regard for anything.” He says, looking at me.

“Why would you do this?” I ask him.

“Because you are her mate and she needs you as much as you need her. Whether she knows it or not.” He says. We look up to see LeeAca laying flowers on the graves. She is dirty, but doesn’t seem to care. She walks over to a bench and sits down staring at the graves. I feel Keenan nudge me and I look over to him. He nods his head in her direction. I get the message and take a deep breath. I walk over to LeeAca and she doesn’t look up, just continues staring at the graves. I sit next to her and look toward the graves as well. It is only then that I realize there are at least 40 graves here all have flowers on them and a wooden moon carved with names on them.

LeeAca’s POV

We sit there in silence for at least 20 minutes when Alarick puts his hand on my thigh. I feel the sparks that come along with it, even through my pants I have on. A feeling that catches me off guard and opens the floodgates for all of my emotions. All of a sudden I feel them. I feel the tears that I have held back for as long as I can remember. All of my emotions come out with them. I start to sob. Alarick looks at me, shocked for a moment before he pulls me into a hug. A tight hug that I feel like I have needed for so long.

“Shhh. It will be okay. I am here for you, whether you need me or not. I will always be here for you.” He says and I feel it. I feel the love he has for me, I feel his sincerity, his honesty. After another 20 minutes of me letting go of all my emotions I manage to hold myself together. I sit there in Alarick’s embrace as he runs his hand through my hair.

“Do you want to talk about it?” He asks and the memories and thoughts come back. I killed the doctor. My main reason for living. Revenge. I killed him and I don’t feel any better. If anything I feel worse. Killing him didn’t bring my babies back. Killing him didn’t fix what they did to me. It didn’t take that pain away that I have been hiding for so long. That anger, the monster that I have become. I start to cry again and shake my head.

“Shhhh. It’s okay. You don’t have to talk about it. I’m sorry.” He says as he holds me tighter.

“No. I don’t. I don’t. Feel any. Any differ. Different. I killed him and …and I don’t feel anything.” I say, as I try to stop crying.

“You killed who?” Alarick asks as I continue sobbing.

“The doctor.” I manage to spit out. He doesn’t say anything, but I feel his confusion. Right, how would he know? I haven’t told him a thing. I sit up quickly and try to calm myself down. After a few moments I am staring at the sky with calmness and even breathing.

“LeeAca, I know you don’t want to but I think we need to talk. You need to get what you are feeling off your chest. I am here for you. Whatever you say will not run me away. You are stuck with me for good.” Alarick says. I sigh. I still have doubts that he is lying.

“Fen.. What do you want to do?” I ask Fen. She has been very quiet today, but I can feel her emotions. She is feeling like I am but more confused.
