Without shifting his attention from Rhett, Khaos talked to Gayle. “Call Dezgar here.”

Zuri regained her sight again and now she could see her surroundings, she was inside a small room with a window, which was too high for her to see outside. There was nothing here, not even a bed or a table, or a single chair.
There was no fireplace, thus you could imagine how cold it was.
She was alone with her ankles and wrists chained to the wall with silver that burned her skin. She had stopped struggling to escape and now, she was rocking herself back and forth, hugging her legs, while talking to her imaginary person.
“So, what if the attachment between us doesn’t exist? Will we still feel this way?” she asked to no one in particular, but in her mind, Khaos was sitting there next to her. Khaos had been accompanying her ever since she opened her eyes.
Probably it was because of her strong desire to see him, that was why her mind conjured him.
“Do you think I will survive this? There are five more curses left. Do you think I will survive this?”
There was silent, as if Zuri was listening to Khaos’s answer.
“It hurt. It’s so painful… I don’t want to be hurt anymore… Yes… I don’t want to remember any of this… I don’t want to remember you too… Can you kill Rhett? I hate him, but I can’t kill him… He has been my favorite brother…”
Zuri patted her own shoulder, pretending Khaos was the one, who did it. It didn’t feel the same, but it was enough to soothe her.
“I think I bit off his ear though… I don’t regret it… I know you are not real… Khaos is not here… I don’t think he will find me…”
In the middle of her ‘conversation’, a few people entered the room.
Dezgar came when Khaos summoned him, he was the new leader for the magic user for the cult after the alpha punished Elijah for his wrongdoings toward Zuri.
Rhett looked relief when he saw Dezgar, because he was part of the cult, he had been with them for more than a decade, he knew better than to run his mouth carelessly.
From the outside, it looked like Rhett disobeyed Khaos and his loyalty was questionable, but in his opinion, he was doing the right thing, because Khaos couldn’t think clearly right now, as his attachment toward Zuri grew stronger.
This was necessary. The alpha would thank him once everything was over and his judgment was no longer clouded.
For now, the cult had to move against the alpha, but their ultimate goal was still for the lycan’s best interest.
“Tell me where is Zuri,” Khaos said calmly. “Tell me the truth now.”
Dezgar glanced at Rhett for a brief moment, he knew how Rhett wanted him to answer the question, he knew the goal of the cult and the right thing to do, but the word that came out of his mouth made Rhett’s jaw dropped.
“They took the luna out of the pack house, to the small hut near the port and keep her there,” Dezgar replied.
“Dezgar!” Rhett roared, he marched toward the magic user, but Khaos pushed him hard enough to make him stumbled and fell on his butt. “How could you!?”
Rhett was in disbelief. This was a betrayal for the cult.
“Come with me.”
Khaos didn’t waste another second when he ordered the magic user to show the way to him. It annoyed him so much that he couldn’t shift into his beast and move faster, instead he had to take the horse and a few of his warriors to come with him.
His beta came with him too when he learned Khaos managed to dig information about Zuri’s whereabouts.
Rhett followed behind them. He didn’t make his existence obvious, but of course, Khaos knew he was nearby and the fact the alpha didn’t say anything, encouraged Rhett to come with them.
Wrath was the only thing that waited for him once Khaos saw Zuri’s condition right now. Even he himself couldn’t stand the sight of her. She was very distracted and her hallucination was getting worse because she was separated from Khaos.
Needless to say, Khaos would unleash hell once they were there, more so, he needed to know why Dezgar betrayed the cult like this. It was a clear instruction.
But Rhett was so wrong. When they arrived at the hut, there was no one there, only a thick silver chain that was abandoned on the floor.
Khaos still could smell Zuri faint scent, especially around the spot where the silver chain was nailed to the wall. There was stain of blood there.
“She is not here,” Bryden said the obvious.
“No way… she should be here.” Dezgar was in disbelief, he tore down the entire small hut, as if by doing so, he could find her, but it was to no avail. “I am sure she is here. She will receive the last five curses and I was instructed to lead the ritual two days from now.”
“Who instructed you?” Khaos went to face Dezgar, just at the same time Rhett entered the hut and glared at him, as if he was reminding him not to say anything.
The gesture didn’t go unnoticed by Khaos, his movement was very smooth and fast, and when he grabbed Rhett’s neck and slammed him against the wall, the latter didn’t even have time to proceed it.
He coughed so hard and gasped greedily for air, he clawed at Khaos’s hand instinctively, because the lycan was still choking him, he lifted him slightly to the point only his toes that could touch the ground and when he spoke to Dezgar, his eyes didn’t leave Rhett.
“Tell me who has instructed you? Is it him?” Khaos nodded at Rhett, though he knew the answer. There was someone else who led the cult. Someone more superior than Rhett.
Khaos had been questioned it ever since he learned about the cult, because Rhett couldn’t be the leader, he was only three to four years older than Zuri, he was only a mere teenager when Zuri received the first curse, there was no way, he would be the one, who orchestrated everything. Someone else must have done it.
Dezgar kept his mouth shut. He gritted his teeth, seemingly having his own internal battle, yet Khaos couldn’t care less about what happened to him internally.
“Bryden, send someone to kill his pregnant woman,” Khaos said. He had used the same method on Lucas.
Finding out this kind of information was not difficult for Khaos, he chose Dezgar because he had something to hold over his head, unless he didn’t care about his woman and his unborn baby.
“No!” Dezgar fell on his knees, he looked mortified, because even he himself didn’t expect this. Only a handful of people, who knew about his woman’s whereabout. “I swear! I swear with my life, I don’t know where they took her! I was not informed at all! I received different information!”
“I have seen your life, swear on something else,” Khaos said grimly. “Bryden! What are you waiting for!?”
This instruction sent Dezgar into panic, he scrambled toward Khaos and shouted at Rhett. “Where did you take her?!”
Rhett’s face was so red, gasping for air, he was trying to stand on his toes and when Khaos threw him away, his head hit the wall and he fell on the floor, breathing greedily when the pressure on his neck disappeared.
“I… I don’t know… it’s not me… I don’t know about this…” Rhett was as confused as Dezgar.
On the other hand, the next ritual for Zuri would be held, the preparation had been done and she was shackled with silver chains. Not only on her wrists and ankles, but around her body too.
Rose was playing her role really well with the rumor that she had spread about Zuri, putting her in a bad light and also swayed public opinion about Rhett.
Public loved to have Rhett as their alpha, but they started to question him. Not only his father, but also his brother and now his sister that got involved with Great Lunar Kingdom, this fact alone made them questioned his loyalty.
They didn’t want their pack was dragged along the mud of conspiracy and coup, they didn’t want to get into a battle that they didn’t agree on.
It took such short time when the small rumor became the real trouble.
