We pull up at the packhouse and see mom and dad. I turn off my Jeep and run over to mom and dad to hug them both. I didn’t even realize that I was crying until I hear mom softly crying and lift my head to look at her. She is upset because I am in pain. Her love for me is a gift, as she never had to love me as much as she does. I feel like I am her bonus daughter, and I am so thankful for her. I am not bound to her by blood, but I am bound to her by love. I drop my head to her shoulder between her and dad and cry harder because I am finally safe. I feel my brothers step up and wrap their arms around us and I realize that I should have just come here after I got to know them, that no one else is going to love me more than they do. Tyler has an arm around dad’s and my shoulder, and Tate has his arms around mom’s and my shoulder, and I feel lighter knowing that I am totally safe here.
I hear a cough behind us, and I turn to look at Bree smiling at me and know she wants to meet my parents. I wipe my eyes and start making the introductions to my parents. I introduce the group, remembering Dad already knows Mason and Braxton. When I got to Calvin, at the back of the group, I hear a growl from my dad, and I already know he realizes who Calvin is to me. Tyler steps forward and I can see him mind linking dad for a few minutes. I know he explained what had happened yesterday as dad steps forward and pulls me into a tight hug, and then steps forward to shake hands with Calvin, and welcomes him to the pack.
“I am sorry Calvin things were super busy and I was so focused on getting us here quickly and safely, that I forgot to advise dad of what had happened yesterday. You are welcome here, and you will be Gamma. I just had to get dad up to speed with the new information” Tyler tells Calvin.
“What new information” Mom asks.
“I will tell you later baby” Dad leans down and tells mom, and then kisses her on top of her head.
“As we couldn’t stay and be safe at the Lake and my friends wanted to come back with me, we figured that we would finish the last few days of Vacation here until they need to leave on Sunday afternoon if that is okay you?”. I ask my parents.
“Of course, Tyler just told me that they did that to make sure you got back safely honey,” My dad says to the group.
“We can see about having a BBQ in the picnic area by the pool, in say, two hours. I will show everyone to their rooms and show Calvin his Gamma area so you can get comfortable and unpacked and get your swimsuits on and you can swim or layout and relax if you want to. We just got the pool opened for the year on Monday” My mom says to the group.
That would be great, I feel like I ruined their vacation with everything that has happened”. I say to mom.
“Dad, I was going to see if you or Luna Monica could get with my high school and see if I can turn in my homework through email, and do Zoom meetings for any tests that I have to do if they will allow it for the last two months of school?” I ask dad.
“I don’t see that being a problem Jade, especially since you are actively being stalked, this only makes sense that you remain here to keep you safe. I will call the school on Monday” my father says to me.
We all go to our rooms to unpack, and I bring my dirty clothes down to wash since we are going to be out at the pool anyway and I can change out the loads in an hour.
I see that the guys are already out and throwing footballs to each other in one area, and frisbee’s in another around towards some small metal stands with chains hanging from them. I see the frisbee enter the chain area, and apparently, it is a game or something. There were only two of the small, chained, stands about 200 feet apart. There was also a small putting green, but no one was over there playing.
I head over to lay down on the lounge chair next to Bree, with Nicole on the other side of Bree, and Jessica coming out a few minutes later and laying down on the lounge next to me. Nicole gets our attention and raises up to take a selfie of her and the rest of us laying out behind her and hashtags it #springbreak. I wish we had had time to do more before we had, had to leave Lake Havasu, and I frown thinking that maybe me being there totally ruined everyone’s vacation.
