Chapter 69 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

“Boring.”

Khaos caressed her cheek and then took her hand. “I will show you something interesting.”

This made Zuri’s eyes lit up, she was beaming, practically bounced when she walked next to Khaos, thrilled to know what he would show her.

The sky had turned dark because the day was shorter when it was winter, but the wind was not really cold. They opened the pack for people, who wanted to stay the night, since they had a long journey to get food that the alpha distributed.

Meanwhile, the royal warriors were still in their place, they didn’t do anything, which safe to say Dacre didn’t give them permission to carry out their original plan and now, Khaos was waiting what he would do.

“How’s the meeting?” Gayle asked, he patted his pants from dirt, he looked annoyed because he was being pinned down by a creature that was only a little bit half of his size.

“They agreed tomorrow will be the ritual.”

“Oh.” Gayle was not thrilled when he heard that, but he didn’t make any comment. Both of them then walked back to the pack house without saying anything. They were conflicted.

Gayle didn’t witness it with his own eyes, but he knew that inflicting curses on you wouldn’t be a nice experience.

On the other hand, Khaos took her to the healer’s house, this was the same healer that constantly giving Zuri the medicine that she needed.

“Alpha, what are you doing here?” Glinda asked, she was surprised to find the alpha and Zuri. She observed Zuri briefly, thinking there was something wrong with her, but she was fine.

“I will take her to the secret tunnel.” Khaos entered the room with Zuri close to him.

Unfortunately for Glinda, the alpha didn’t ask for permission, he stated what he was going to do.

“What? Alpha, it’s fine for you to visit the tunnel, but she…” Glinda tried to stop them, but Zuri gave her a dagger look, you could feel killing intent emanated from the way she glared down at her, which instantly stopped the healer from following them.

Zuri had not yet done something to her. At least, giving a harsh slap like she did to her brother for deceiving her for years.

Thankfully, Glinda knew when to stop, but once the alpha disappeared behind the secret door, she immediately went to Rhett to inform him about this.

“What is this place?” Zuri was in awe to know there was this secret tunnel in the healer’s house.

“A tunnel that apparently your brother and his cult has built for years.” Khaos then proceeded to tell her everything. If she was going to be part of this crazy situation, the last thing he wanted was to put her in the dark.

Zuri needed to know what would happen to her.

It was a long tunnel, thus they had a lot of time to talk before they reached the room that looked like a chapel, where the scriptures were.

Khaos put them back there once he finished reading them.

“You don’t look angry.” Khaos noticed Zuri was not as angry as he expected when he told her the truth. Being betrayed by the brother that you thought you could trust was something hard.

Yet, as far as Khaos knew, Zuri just slapped Rhett, when she could have shredded him into pieces, knowing what she was capable of.

“No. I don’t think I am angry,” Zuri admitted it after she gave some thought about it. “I am disappointed. I think the reason why I am not angry is because I am used to it. Being used by people around me is not something new for me. That’s the feeling that I can handle.”

Zuri looked up to see Khaos and both of them knew that Khaos was using her too. Zuri knew that since beginning and she didn’t see something wrong with it, which was pretty messed up for someone to be fine with this situation.

“So, when is the next ritual?” Zuri asked casually. She was not stupid, the meeting that Khaos had earlier must have discussed all the things about her and with how eager her brother to put the curse on her in order to complete the beauty blood, she knew the ritual wouldn’t happen soon.

“Tomorrow.”

The answer was very curt and that was their last conversation before they reached the chapel. Zuri was in awed when she entered this place.

“What do you want to show me?” Zuri asked eagerly.

“I want to teach you my language. I want you to be able to know more about the old dynasty.”

Not many people could read the scriptures and for now, the scripture was the only authentic information about the lycan, since many of the information related to the old dynasty had been destroyed.

“I remember you wanted to learn about the lycan.” Khaos knew about her visit to the library in order to get to know his root.

“Yes.” Zuri looked so eager when she heard that. She looked at Khaos with excitement in her eyes.

“Come here.” Khaos took the scriptures and sat on one of the pews, while Zuri followed and sat down next to him, she listened to her lesson attentively.

The room was very quiet and the only source of light came from the luminous pears on the wall. Zuri liked this place, even more because of the person that she spent her time with.

She might not realize it, but she heard voices in her head less and less whenever her mind was occupied by something else.

They spent their time together there until Zuri felt hungry.

“We should have packed food,” Khaos said when he heard Zuri’s stomach started grumbling. “My bad for not thinking about it thoroughly.” He closed the scriptures, ending their lesson for today.

Nycta was fidgeting, she threw up a few times with the thought that Dacre was with her sister right now. Her body felt unwell. The stress didn’t allow her to fall asleep at night and she kept tossing and turning.

Her mind was playing trick on her, showing the images that she didn’t want to think about, but the more she tried to get rid of them, the more vivid those lewd images became.

Nycta couldn’t stand the thought that her mate and her sister were in the close proximity. They must have done something. Why would Dacre hold himself back? No one would judge him because he was the king and it was not something that frowned upon for someone with status like Dacre to have another woman, especially when he was away from his mate for long time.

Meanwhile, Rose… Nycta could see the longing in her eyes. She wanted this position as the queen. After Rimera, the title should fall into her lap, but the king chose different sister.

“I hate this…” Nycta opened her eyes and angry tears fell on her cheek. She stared at the ceiling. Her hands couldn’t stop shaking because she was very upset. She knew it wouldn’t be good for her baby, but what else she could do?

In the end, Nycta got off the bed and decided to walk in the garden, but when she opened the door, she found Killian was there.

She completely forgot that this man was still her personal warrior. Thing had been in impasse with him. It helped because he didn’t talk much and made his presence unknown as much as possible. She still couldn’t figure out how to act around him. The fact that she was carrying his child…

“Where are you going, queen Nycta?” Killian asked when he saw her walked toward the garden. “It’s already late.”

Nycta glanced over her shoulder. Her gaze was sharp enough to let Killian know that she was in a very bad mood.

“Why do you care?” Her own mate didn’t even care. Was it because she was having his child? Nycta’s mind was messing with her. “Be a good dog and keep quiet!”

She didn’t mean to be that harsh with Killian. Obviously, she vented out her frustration and anger to the wrong person.

Killian looked hurt and angry, but he didn’t say anything, as he followed her out. He was not in a very good mood either. The thought of the king with Rose didn’t sit well with him and here he was, taking care of this bratty queen.
