“Soon baby” I pressed my face into her hair and took a deep breath “You need to be in the hospital for now and besides, the suite is being cleaned up”
“What happened to Scott’s body?”
‘Don’t worry about him” Jax answered before I could “He’s trash, and you don’t worry about trash, you throw it out”
“Koda?” Blake linked me and I froze for a moment.
“Now’s not a good time Blake, what do you want?”
“I just wanted to see if you were okay after everything that’s happened” She sounded very sincere, but she always did to me “I know you hide your true feelings behind humor”
“Actually, speaking of home” I heard Jax comment “I thought we’d stay at one of our other buildings until the suite is back to normal”
What? He hadn’t discussed this with me.
“Koda?” Blake said softly “Are you listening?”
“No” I admitted “Look Blake, I can’t talk right now, Maddie’s awake and needs me. Thank you for checking in but I’m okay”
“So.. she’s okay?” Blake asked, though I thought she sounded upset rather than thankful and Flynn started to growl “Daddy said she’d woken up, I’m glad”
“When can I leave the hospital?” Maddie asked Jax who was playfully rubbing his nose against hers “I feel a lot better, just tired”
“I know I’ve been a little bit of a cow about everything, and I’m sorry” Blake went on, and I sighed, I was very tempted to just cut the connection “Maybe I can make it up to you and the Luna, offer and olive branch of sorts. I could take her out with some of the other women, so she can get to know the women of the court”
“You can leave when the doctor says so and not before” Jaxson told her “I will link him and ask him to come check you again later. Are you hungry?”
“Cody?” Blake took my attention again.
“I can’t eat right now” Maddie argued.
“Look, I don’t know, maybe” I told her impatiently “I’ll speak to Maddie about your offer, I really have to go and stop using my name. Our relationship is no longer informal and I don’t want to upset Maddie, goodbye”
I cut the link and exhaled softly as I tightened my arms around her “Will you please just try to eat something?” I asked and tried to forget about Blake’s interruption. I didn’t know if I trusted her enough to befriend Maddie, not after everything Julia told us the night we met Maddie.
“My throat’s still sore” She told me as she turned back to me and I couldn’t help but get lost in her eyes. Did they always sparkle like that?
“You can have a protein sake” I suggested.
“Okay”
“Thank you” I said before pulling her mouth to mine and kissed her softly for a few seconds “I don’t know what I would have done if I’d lost you”
“Me either” Jax added and pressed his face into her tempting chest as Maddie wound her arms around him “Don’t leave us”
I hugged her even tighter and cuddled up to my family.
MADELYN’S POV
“You’re sure you’re feeling okay?” Koda asked as he hovered over me “Maybe you should sit down”
Once the healer allowed me leave the hospital after a million tests, all ordered by my mates and not the actual healer, I was cleared to leave and the Koda took me to a large manor away from the pack’s tower while Jaxson attended the morning meeting.
They’d had a very funny argument this morning where Koda claimed Jax had to make us for the remaining 3 morning meetings he’d missed, the first missed meeting due to his temporary incarceration in prison, however Jax argued that he only had 2 left because he went to the war meeting yesterday, though Koda claimed it didn’t count as they’d played rock paper scissors again to see who’d go, in the end, they decided that Jax would only do the 2 and be done with it and that everything would return to normal again after that
The manor was amazing, two stories with gorgeous manicured grounds and tall tree’s and high stone fences, the walkway leading towards the home was white stones that matched the white stones of the manor and tall white columns in teh entry way.
The front doors were glass and wood with lovely carved designs that matched the equist statues around the yard and in the home, I felt that this home matched the twins personalities so much more then the tower and I was eager to explore.
My strength had returned and I was feeling like myself again and very eager to put this whole Scot situation behind me
The twins kept asking me to talk about how I was feeling but what they didn’t understand was that this situation wasn’t the first traumatic one I’d been involved in and it wasn’t the first time I’d been beaten, so it was easy for me to move on like nothing had happened.
“I’m fine” I told him as he placed a packed bag on the ground
“You just got out of the hospital, you should be resting”
“I’m fine” I looked over at my mate and realized from the concerned look on his face that he really way worried about me, would I ever get used to being cared for?
I looked up into his eyes and felt an overwhelming desire to be in his arms, so I rushed over and wound my arms around his waist and pressed my face into his firm chest
“Do you want a tour of the house?” Koda asked as he hugged me back
“Sure”
“We can start with the bedroom” He suggested “Though, there is a dress code in there, you have to be naked”
I laughed and shoved him “Nice try perv”
“Perv?” He laughed and grabbed me and flipped me over his shoulder
I squealed and laughed and slapped his butt “Put me down!”
Koda spun me around as I giggled but then he finally put me down on my feet again and took my face in his hands “Tonight, you are mine and Jaxson’s” He told me with an excited glint in his eyes “But until then, you can keep your clothes on”
I giggled again and Koda pulled my mouth to his and kissed me softly and sweetly “I love that sound” He kissed me up against the wall until I was breathless but a noise made us break apart
“Oh, sorry your majesty” Julia said from the hallway holding a box filled with fruit and vegetables “I didn’t mean to interrupt, I was just bringing in the groceries”
I blushed and looked down “It’s okay Julia” He smiled “Please unpack the luggage once you’ve finished in the kitchen”
“No, it’s okay, I can do that” I said quickly
“No you cant” Koda said firmly “You are not a maid, come on, le’ts do the tour”
Koda took my hand and lead me down a hallway filled with amazing paintings “Baby, I know you’re used to doing everything yourself but you’re not a servant, let the staff do their jobs and you just enjoy these last few days of freedom because once you’re marked and crowned, my mother will give you more work then you can stand”
I giggled and held his hand in both of mine “No way” I joked “I’m just going to be the face, someone else can do all the work behind the scenes”
Kody laughed and twirled me and I giggled “Let’s run that idea passed Jaxson first”
“Okay” I smiled and hugged his arm as he walked us down the hallway and pointed to room after room but as we walked down one hallway to our new bedroom, I froze
There on the wall was gorgeous painting of a phoenix in flames with a beautiful watercolor backdrop mimicking the sunset.
“Wow” I reached out and touched it “This is beautiful”
“Oh great” Cody commented and I looked over at him smirking with his arms crossed “Now I’ll have to tell Jax and he’ll get an even bigger head”
