“So?” Ezra turned to my father “Is she?”
“Who told you who her mother was?” My father asked as he glared at the council members around the room
“No one, your majesty” Ezra shrugged “Like I said, it was a rumor. I heard it in passing”
“A rumor that obviously got started because my council is untrustworthy” My dad’s eyes darkened “Guards, arrest every council member, when I find out who betrayed my trust, they’ll be killed”
There was an uproar around the room as the guards piled in and started taking all the council members, I took great pleasure in seeing Jordan getting taken away, was the most satisfying moment of my life and I turned to Koda and sneakily gave him a high five while he smiled smugly.
“Leave Ryker” My dad waved off the guard who’d gone over to him
“Well, this will make it easier to replace the entire council, when we take over” Koda linked me, we’d been planning our own council for years now, and we knew that we were only keeping 4 of them, the rest were getting replaced.
When the room was emptier, my father turned back to Ezra, who looked perfectly at ease “Yes, she is her daughter” My father admitted, and I closed my fists in rage, how dare he, tell the Alpha’s about our mate “The rumors are correct and yes, she is a white Lycan”
The room fell silent and I looked at Koda who was glaring angrily at our father, I matched his sentiment
“What are you doing?!” Koda asked angrily.
“If we want the Alphas on our side, the we need to be transparent”
“If you were going to tell everyone anyway then why did you have the council arrested?” Cole asked
“They betrayed my trust” He answered “And trust me, if I didn’t know I completely trust you too, you’d have been arrested along with the rest of them, now back to the matter at hand”
He walked over to the raised platform where the band had stopped playing “I wanted to talk about this tomorrow but seeing as we’re already on this subject, this is what we know, Madelyn, my boys mate and your future Queen, is the child of Iyarna, we don’t officially know if Iyo is dead but it would appear that way”
I crossed my arms and glared at my father, how dare he do this, I couldn’t wait to be King.
“Madelyn was raised in a werewolf pack by Troy” My dad continued, ignoring both mine and Koda’s glares of contempt “The same Troy who released Fenrir, we still don’t know their whereabouts, but it is clear that they’ll be coming for the girl”
“They’ll never get her!” Koda shouted angrily
“No, they won’t” My father agreed “Because we can not risk them getting her, if they do, goddess only knows what they’ll use her for”
“My apology for interrupting your majesty” Ezra rose his hand “But if the girl is such a threat, then wouldn’t the most logical course of action be to kill her and eliminate that threat?”
I growled with true rage and made a gesture to get close enough to kill the pr*ck but Koda quickly grabbed me around my waist and yanked me back, spinning us at the same time
“ENOUGH!” Koda shouted and placed his hands on my chest to stop me “HE’S JUST TRYING TO BAIT YOU!”
I growled again and shoved his hands away “One day Ezra” I warned him “One day I will have the throne, just remember that”
“BOYS!” Dad shouted at us and we turned back to him “To answer your question, killing Madelyn will not help and if anyone attempts to harm me new daughter, I will rip your fangs from your face and leave you to turn rogue and only then, will I burn your pack to the ground and kill everyone member of your traitor line, is that clear?”
The Alpha’s looked terrified and all quickly declared that they were loyal.
“As I was saying” Our father spoke again “Madelyn is in danger from Fenrir and Troy and needs to be protected, fortunately she had two Alphas by her side and they’ll take good care of her. What we need to do is focus on the werewolves, Fenrir will bring them to his side again. I want everyones troops ready for war”
“We should have wiped them all out decades ago” Alpha Bennet spoke up ‘I have a pack close to mine, and we’re always having to deal with sh*t”
“The werewolves are not to be harmed if they stand down” Our father ordered
Alot of the Alpha’s looked crestfallen by that but didn’t argue, and our father started an impromptu meeting where we started discussing training and budgets and schedules and our relaxing morning was gone.
KODA’S POV
After lunch, we finally left the Alphas and were heading back to our office when we paused and looked at each other, Maddie was using her office.
Jax pushed her door open, and we walked in. She was sitting in the corner of the room reading a book while Evelyn, one of the pack’s head advisors, was pacing around, but when she heard us, she turned and bowed, but Maddie was glued to her book and hadn’t even noticed our presence.
“And then what?” She asked Evelyn “Ev, and then what?”
She looked up in confusion and her whole face lit up, she squealed excitedly and pushed her book aside and jumped up, as she rushed over, I met her half way and wound my arms around her and spun her around
“Hey baby” I murmured and kissed her throat “Mmm, you smell good, I could just eat you up”
She giggled as she playfully pushed me away and wriggled out of my grip before skipping over to Jax and launching herself into his arms.
“How are you sweetheart?” He hugged her tightly “Have you had a good morning?”
“A long morning” She smirked at Evelyn, who just laughed “Ev, is trying to torture me, I’ve already read through two whole books”
“But you love reading” I pointed out
“True” She smiled “But not one after the other, after the other.. oh Koda!”
She changed the subject and rushed back over to me, she sat up on her toes and gripped my face in her small hands and pulled my face down and kissed me “Thank you for my office”
I smiled and kissed her again “You’re welcome baby”
“Hey” Jax complained and we looked at him “I helped”
“You?” I raised an eyebrow at him “All you did was tell me to change the desk chair”
“But you have to admit” He gestured to it “It’s the best dam chair money can buy, so it counts”
“No it doesn’t”
Maddie giggled and went back over to him “That still counts” She kissed him too “Thank you”
Maddie went to move away but Jax pulled her back in and kissed her again while his hands ran down her body, turning me on.
“Evelyn, leave us” I ordered
“But.. um.. the Queen gave me orders, she asked me to teach her about the Alpha’s” She argued
“The only Alpha’s she needs to know about right now, are in this room” Jax told her but his eyes remained fixed on Maddie’s “Out”
Evelyn looked uncomfortable but quickly bowed and rushed away, closing the door behind her.
“Why did you make her go?” Maddie asked “I have alot to learn before I meet all the Alphas”
I laughed “You really are so innocent, aren’t you?” I walked over trapped her between us and she looked up at me with wide confused eyes
“We have to break in your new office” Jax moved her hair aside and began to kiss her throat, making her shiver
“Break it in?”
