I look at my mate. ‘What’s really bothering you my love?’
‘I don’t think I can bare to see you in pain darling. I’m not leaving your side though. I’m your mate, and it will help you heal even faster if I am here with you.’
‘Thank you Austin.’
“Okay, Luna, let’s get you changed and on a bed.” Dr. Hadley says.
Kaden POV
My scout is finally back with the medical records for Rebel. After not finding anything in the system, I sent him to investigate further. I found out that Rebel had her Luna Ceremony. It was the perfect distraction for the scout to break in to the doctor’s office and try to find information.
I don’t care that Rebel had her ceremony. Once I rid myself of Alpha Austin, I will claim her as mine and get wh I need from her. She can have her fun for now though.
As I look through the medical record, I learn that she was abused by her father and has several past breaks. Two of which were not set correctly. The records said she is malnourished too.
I sit back in my chair and think about what the warriors told me about Rebel during the battle. I was furious that she was able to make my warriors take a knee and submit to her. What strikes me as odd is her medical records would make you think she is weak and broken, when in reality she is strong and according to my beta, lethal.
I need to exploit the injuries. Break bones again, especially the two that are not set correctly. I’m going to need to move quickly before she has a chance to fix anything or get healthier.
I need to investigate the council in the southwestern region. I need to do it quickly. I want to find out who I can buy or blackmail from the council and have on my side. I can’t risk going there and getting arrested and sentenced or stripped of my title after everything I worked for to date. Then once the charges are dropped, I can take Rebel with me and get back to becoming the Alpha King.
I set to work immediately. I mind link Pierce. ‘Pierce, get me information on the council in the southwestern region. Then start mobilizing our warriors.’
‘Yes, Alpha. When are we planning to move out?’
‘We leave in the morning.’
‘Alpha, I’m not sure this is a good idea. Rebel Lawson is not like any other Alpha I have ever seen. Perhaps, we should rethink our strategy.’ Pierce says to me.
‘I’m already thinking of my strategy. This time I will go to Blackstone. I will need to handle this personally. I need the information on the council now though.’
‘Yes, Alpha.’ Pierce says. I hear a sigh as I close the link.
No one is going to stop me from getting what I have worked for, especially not my beta. He can get on board or I will get rid of him too.
Reid POV
As we are waiting for my granddaughter to come out of surgery, I start making calls to my pack. I need them to get everything ready and be prepared to help Austin. I need a third of my warriors here. The other two-thirds- will stay behind. Once that asshole, Kaden gets here, I will send another third of my warriors to attack Kaden’s pack. My warriors all have special abilities. This is what Kaden doesn’t know. No one knows. Warriors are sworn to secrecy, even within the pack not to discuss the abilities they have when fighting in battle. Since we haven’t fought any battles in a very long time, no one, including Kaden would know about these abilities.
Rising Moon has always been selective about who we let into our pack. I don’t make the decision by myself. I make the final decision, but I have a board of advisors that go over the applications of transfer requests and we hold those coming to our pack in cells before deciding whether or not we want to allow them entry. If we don’t, we send them on their way.
I’ve discussed this in great length with Adele. She agrees that Austin will need help. Kaden is a dirty fighter and a conniving Alpha. If he is responsible for the accidents that happened to his previous Lunas, then there is no way I’m going to allow him anywhere near my granddaughter.
Then there is Morgana. We have barely spoken about her involvement, if it is her who is helping Kaden. That is another loose end that will need to be closed. I banished her with good reason, but I did not harm her. We never sought her out and we didn’t turn her over to the council. Even though what she did was treason and grounds for execution, we didn’t want to do that to her either. Banishment was by far the kindest punishment I could give her.
My mate and I still cannot believe our granddaughter has been alive all this time and we never knew. I will never forgive that piece of shit, Harris. He stole years from us to know our granddaughter and our only other connection to our daughter Sydney. He will pay for this betrayal. The council is intervening and I will abide to their conviction. But, if for some reason, he gets off, I will finish him off myself.
After three hours of waiting, Dr. Hadley comes out. “She did great. Roxie, her wolf, is healing her.”
Relief floods my system and I can feel my mate’s relief as well.
“Thank you doctor. Can we see her?”
“Yes, but only for a few minutes. She needs to rest.”
Rebel POV
Even though Dr. Hadley gave me the nerve block, I still felt everything she did. I felt the tugging, heard the breaking, felt the strange sensation of getting stitched up. I just didn’t feel the pain.
She said the nerve block would last another three hours. After which, I would start feeling pain again. I’m hoping Roxie will have me healed up before then.
‘I’m working on it Rebs.’ She says.
‘I know you are Roxie. You are the best wolf ever. I just hope I can walk out of here in the morning.’
‘I will do everything I can to get you fixed up. Our mate being here will help.’
I look at Austin. I can see anger in his eyes. He didn’t like seeing me on the surgery table. He growled when Dr. Hadley broke the first bone to reset it properly.
“Babe, this was necessary. It’s over now. I’m not in pain and Roxie is working double time to get me healed quickly. You being here is the best way to help me too.” I tell him.
“I don’t like seeing you injured. It’s making me feel helpless. I know it needed to be done, but I don’t you to have to do this again later, darling.”
I bring my hand to his cheek and bring his lips to mine. I kiss him lovingly. “I love you. I know this was hard for you to see, but I wouldn’t want anyone else in here with me but you. You make me feel safe Austin.”
He puts his forehead on mine and closes his eyes, inhaling my scent. “I love you, Rebel. There is a lot happening very quickly. I’m worried we may have done this too quickly and we may not have time to heal you. I don’t want you to be vulnerable. I will protect you. You know I will, but I also know you. If Kaden or Cullen bring the fight to us, you will want to fight, and I don’t want you to be injured just coming out of the hospital.”
“I will be healed before anyone gets here. I’m certain of it. I’m going to be fine. You said we will get through this and I am going to follow your lead with that, but this needed to be done and it was going to be done regardless. What I want to know, is what have we done to secure the hospital and all the security systems and patients? If someone could breach our systems and alarms, then it’s safe to say that we have a weak spot in our defenses.”
