Chapter 20 – Emerald Eyed Luna (Nina) Novel Free Online

“Alpha Paul, Luna Autumn, this is Nina.” Liam said professionally.

I gave him a sideways look and smirked a little before straightening my back, “It is a pleasure to meet you both, I am sorry it is under these circumstances and I would like to extend my gratitude for the help I received last evening.” I said.

Alpha Paul’s eyebrows shot up like he was surprised I would address him correctly and say the right things. “What is your blood? He asked softly, earning him a look from his mate.

“I was Beta Ben’s daughter from Redwood pack in Kansas,” I said. It hurt my heart to address my father in the past tense. Tasted like chalk on my tongue.

“Was?” Luna Autumn asked quietly.

“With all due respect, that is a conversation I would prefer to have somewhere more private, if possible.”

Both of them nodded their heads in understanding. “Well, then, follow me” Alpha said and turned and started walking into the house. Walking into a huge foyer, it opened up into a grand staircase that started on opposite sides of the room and met in the middle. There were real hardwood floors stained with a dark cherry. The stairs were painted white with black railing. In the middle of the room hung a very large chandelier of diamonds that paired nicely with the white walls. Large pictures of the past and present Alphas hung in a row with their names engraved below them.

Alpha Paul started walking to the right and I quickly started following him. The Luna was right behind us as well as Liam. His office was just off the main entrance, which I found unusual. Alpha Paul noticed my surprised looked. “I understand more offices are on the second floor but I rather not bring people who are not my intended guests further inside my house than needed.”

“Makes sense to me” I said, nodding, and I did.

“Have a seat and tell me why you were attacked last night” Alpha Paul instructed.

I glanced around and it was just Alpha Paul, Luna Autumn and myself in there. “Well, my pack was attacked a little bit ago and both my parents were killed. My then boyfriend found out he was mated to my then best friend. So, in 24 hours, I lost my parents, boyfriend and best friend, so I decided it was time for a change. My friend Zach and I started driving and this is where we landed. I happened to stumble upon the rogues last night.”

Alpha Paul looked at me with a smile on his face, like he knew I was hiding something. “And that’s your whole story?”

“The part I am willing to share, the rest is more personal” I said slowly, tasting the words as they came out.

“Have you ever heard of ‘The Three Bandits’?”

Well fuck, “Yes sir, Zach and I killed them the other day. However, we did not know who they were. I can’t say I would still have done it as they were trying to kill me.”

“Who is this Zach I keep hearing about?”

“He was a warrior’s son from my pack, he ended up being mated to someone from this pack actually. I haven’t heard from him today though.”

“Who did he mate with?” Luna Autumn finally spoke

“Um, I think her name is Brooke.”

“WHAT????” Both of them shouted.

I flinched back and looked at them with wide eyes. I saw the Alpha’s eyes glaze over and I knew he was mind-linking someone. Neither of them spoke and about five minutes later I was getting ready to say something when we heard a knock at the door.

“Get your ass in here” Alpha growled.

“Oh, good heavens! Chill out, this is a good thing!” Luna Autumn said, smacking him on the chest. I heard the Alpha mumble something like ‘always the last to know these things.’ Brooke, the girl from last night walked in freshly showered with a simple blue cotton dress on with black flip flops and Zach came in behind her in his same clothes from last night but a lot wrinklier than before. Well, isn’t this a bad walk of shame.

“Want to explain?” Alpha Paul said

“Yes, well daddy, this is my mate, Zach! We met last night at Club 77.” Brooke said proudly,

Alpha gave her a quizzing look before relaxing and smiled at Brooke. “That’s wonderful! We needed a good warrior!” Looking at Zach, he stood up and got an inch from his face. To Zach’s credit, he didn’t flinch or move. “Will you protect my daughter from harm at all times? She is not a fighter and needs a solid man to protect her? If you do not, you will have me to answer to. Understand?”

Zach held his ground, “Yes sir, she is safe with me and I will lay down my life before anything happens to her.”

Alpha Paul relaxed and nodded his head. “We will need to discuss becoming a member and taking over the rolls of a warrior, assuming you are not going back to your pack?”

Very smooth alpha, I thought. Not only did he ask if Zach would be taking away his daughter but if he would accept a position of power. Zach, however, answered in a way that made me sure he had been rehearsing that sentence for a while now. “Sir, with your permission, Brooke and I would like a little time to decide what the best future will be for us.”

“Hump well, don’t take too long.” Alpha Paul said unimpressed.

“Yes, dears. Take all the time you need. We both love you, Brooke, and I know you will make the right decision,” Luna Autumn said. The way she said it made it sound like she already knew what the answer would be, or expected Brooke to choose.
