“E chiedo scusa, capo, non sapevo che si trattasse di un affare non autorizzato” My apologies, boss, but I was not aware that this was an unauthorized deal. Arturo said, trying to save his ass. I had to fight back laughing as I looked at Vladimir who shook his head, noticing how the man was more than willing to simply abandon Sergio for his life. But then again, I couldn’t expect any less from a Bernardi. They were cowards and this was the least that they would be doing.
“Sei ben consapevole che questo è il mio territorio, Signor Bernardi. Ti suggerisco di provare con un’altra bugia, no?” You are well aware that this is my territory, Mr. Bernardi; I do suggest that you try another lie, no? I said, giving him a cold smile, letting them know that I was well aware of their lies. I picked up one of the chairs and sat in front of the pair, crossing my right leg over the other, waiting for what they had to do.
“Go on,” I said, nodding at both men, waiting for them to challenge me. Both their men stood, knowing that one wrong move could be fatal for everyone who was in the room, and their families, and that wasn’t something that they wanted to deal with.
“Boss…”
“Here is what is going to happen,” I said, my expression hardening as I glared at Sergio. His heart raced and he gulped. He knew that he couldn’t even touch his gun in front of me, not without my permission of course, and I knew that it was something that petrified him to the bone. “You, Bernardi, will follow your family back to Italy. I believe that your puppy has delivered that he has failed to reside here, and that would include you.”
“This is not your…”
“And you, Sergio.” I said, not bothering to give Arturo a chance to speak. He would know his limits my way; otherwise, I would know how to deal with him my way. It was something that I was going to make sure that he kept in mind. It was a pity that he would be learning it through the man who chose to both lie to and double cross me. I got up from my chair, and despite his men wanting to approach, he shook his head at them, knowing that things would be easier for him if they didn’t. I chuckled and shook my head at him before grabbing the knife, his, from the desk beside him. I quickly dug it in his hand, pinning him to the table as I glared daggers at him.
His eyes widened in surprise and he wailed in pain before looking down at the knife that cut his hand. I kept my eyes on him as the smell of his blood filled my nostrils. His men tried taking a step forward, and I chuckled before he screamed just as he saw one of them pulling his gun out. Vladimir and I were already ready to tackle them if needed, but I didn’t feel like troubling myself for a human right now.
“DON’T YOU MOVE! STOP!” He yelled so loud that his men were forced to stand down.
“Good boy,” I said, grabbing his chin before forcing him to look me dead in the eye. “You have two options, pull the knife out, or pull your hand, one would cost your life, and one would cost your finger. You have two seconds to choose wisely.”
Sergio looked at me with wide eyes, and I smiled, waiting for what he was going to do as I watched. He put his left hand on his wrist before pulling his hand from the knife, cutting it, his eyes widening as he screamed. His screams were music to my ears, but I knew that he was getting the punishment that he deserved. To say the least, whenever he looked at his finger which was now cut in half, he would know to never double cross me again. As for the Bernardi prick, he would know that I wasn’t an easy prey to mess with.
He looked at the knife for a second then at me, and I nodded before straightening as I fixed my jacket. I looked at Vladimir who nodded in response before turning to Sergio. “Clear things up, and I want this place taken down before the night ends. You know the consequences if it doesn’t.”
Vladimir and I walked toward the door, and the men who were in front of the door, Sergio’s, looked down at their feet before opening the door, letting even the dickhead know who was in charge here.
I could hear the chair move behind me, and I knew Arturo got up from his chair just as Vladimir and I walked out of the door. Vladimir looked at me and smirked before shaking his head.
“Do you think that he would be giving the message to the others?” Vladimir asked, referring to Arturo. I shook my head, knowing that he wouldn’t.
“They wouldn’t stand another failure, and the two of us know that they are dealing with plenty right now.” I said, as Mikhail, one of my men, opened the car’s door for me. I nodded and got inside followed by Vladimir. “Did you find anything about his woman?”
“Not at all, the woman seems to have disappeared without a trace. But I am sure that she will have to appear eventually.” He said, and I nodded. Whoever that woman was, she was going to have to pop up at some point.
“Keep an open eye for her. If Arturo is here trying to do business deals, then I believe that others are too.” I said, nodding at Mikhail through the rear mirror to drive. He nodded and started the car, knowing that we were heading to the office. “We just need to dig them out like the rats that they are…”
Eleanor:
I hung the Alpha’s jackets as I finally found it in me to take a breath as I finished his laundry.
The freshness of his clothes and the suite gave me a sense of satisfaction and contentment. And the fact that for once, I was actually being treated like a human, and for the first time since as far as I could remember, I was hit or yelled at, I couldn’t help but feel calm.
However, I couldn’t deny it being somewhat difficult and tiring to get everything done. I could swear that he had too many clothes or that the maids of the pack never did his laundry. Whichever the case was, it took me hours to get everything through with, and though I did expect to initially be done around mid noon, it was now a while past nine in the evening. I did notice the fact that Liana was sure to not only keep me busy with work, but to also ensure that I had random breaks to either eat or even get myself a cup of coffee.
The luxury of having to drink it was something that I didn’t expect, especially since I knew that I didn’t have to pay for it, and that was something that was nonexistent within my family. And that was something that I couldn’t help but feel somewhat grateful to be living through.
The Alpha’s scent filled my nostrils as he entered the suite, and I couldn’t help the frown that formed on my lips as my wolf perked up, growing somewhat excited about his arrival.
I closed the closet and turned around just in time to pick up his pants from the bed to place in the drawers. Thankfully, Liana took time to show me where everything was to be placed before she left the suite after we ate.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, raising an eyebrow at me. He looked around the room and nodded when he found that it was tidy before looking down at his pants that I had in my hands.
“I just finished your laundry, Alpha, and Liana asked me to put them back in place once I was done,” I said, and he nodded. “May I? Or do you want me to leave it to another time?”
