Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 10 – Not Your Mistress. Alpha.

“Yes, Alpha.”

Alpha?

I stared at him. “You can’t just take me wherever you want! I’m not yours!”

He didn’t even blink. Just sat there, face stone cold, looking ahead like he hadn’t just kidnapped me in broad daylight.

Behind us, the wrecked car was drawing a crowd. Humans. Police. Flashing lights.

I turned back to him. “Where are you taking me, mister? Answer me!”

My brain screamed that he was bringing me back to that hotel room. I had run from him for a reason. I didn’t want to be his toy.

“Stop the car! Let me out!”

I started pounding on his arm until he caught my wrist. Not rough, but firm.

I tried to yank it away, but he held it.

He leaned in, and my pulse spiked.

His breath brushed against my cheek as he spoke. “Don’t you think I deserve a thank you for saving your pretty little wolf head? Again?”

I scoffed. “Didn’t last night count as gratitude enough?”

His eyes dropped to my lips. “That was a one-time payment. We’re back at zero now.”

The way he looked at me made my stomach twist. His face was close. Too close. My wolf stirred. Not in fear, but in something darker. Dangerous.

My voice wavered. “Do you mean you’re gonna claim me again? Even if I say no this time?”

I knew we weren’t alone in the car. The driver could hear. I didn’t care. Scandal already followed me like a second shadow.

He didn’t answer right away. Just looked at me.

I hated how handsome he was. I hated that I still remembered what his skin felt like. That my wolf remembered him.

I regretted that night.

But I also knew, deep down I didn’t.

He sighed and released my wrist, leaning back in his seat. “Don’t worry, little wolf. Nothing will ever happen unless you want it.”

I blinked. “What are you—“

“By the way…” He cut me off. “I know Johan Vale was forcing you to go to the Council. For those videos. I figured you needed help. So I helped.”

My eyes narrowed. “Help me? How?”

He gave me a small smile. “You’ll see.”

The SUV pulled into a high-end restaurant. Staff rushed out the second they saw him, opening doors and bowing like he was royalty.

They looked at me too. No judgment. Just respect.

He led me to a private booth and offered me the seat across from him.

I frowned. “So what? Is this the payment you expect from me? A date?”

He raised a brow. “Partly. But actually, I brought you here to give you this.”

He slid a phone across the table.

“You want this back, don’t you?”

Jessica’s POV

I stared at the phone in my hand, confused.

On screen was a livestream from the hospital. Suzette.or as I preferred to call her, drama queen deluxe, was being held hostage by a crazed man with a knife.

She was in a hospital gown, crying her lungs out, her face streaked with makeup and tears. Nurses and doctors were crowded near the door but couldn’t get close. The guy was shouting like a maniac.

“Move! Get out of the way! She’s my wife! I’m taking her home!”

Suzette screamed, “I’m not your wife! Help! Johan, save me!”

Lydia had already collapsed on the floor, sobbing. “Please don’t hurt her. Please!”

The more they begged, the more unhinged the man became. “If you don’t move, I’ll die with my wife right here!”

“No! I don’t want to die!” Suzette was hysterical. Her voice cracked so bad my ears hurt.

I stared at the livestream, then slowly looked up at the man across from me. “You did this?”

He nodded once, calm as ever. “I heard Johan was forcing you to delete the evidence. So I made a little distraction. If he really cared about you, he wouldn’t have left you bleeding at a crash site to run to her.”

I didn’t flinch. Didn’t blink. I just set the phone on the table and stared straight at him. “Why are you helping me?”

He leaned forward, planting both hands on the table until there was barely an inch between us. His breath was hot against my cheek.

My wolf stirred. Not scared. Intrigued.

“Tell me, what the hell am I supposed to do when having you once only made me crave more? I can’t stop thinking about how you felt wrapped around me… and now, I need to feel it again. So that’s why.”

“W-What?” I felt the heat crawl up my face. My eyes widened. My jaw almost dropped.

And my traitorous wolf? She was howling inside me, practically wagging her tail.

I sat back fast, cheeks burning. But he didn’t even smirk. He just stared, eyes locked on me like he was memorizing every expression.

Then he tilted his head. “You’ve still got blood on your dress. Your wolf may have healed you, but that’s not how a woman like you should be seen. Freshen up. I’ll wait.”

He turned to a nearby waitress holding a few handbags. She stepped closer and bowed slightly. “Miss, if you could come with me to the washroom, I’ll help you freshen up.”

I looked at him, then at her. He nodded once. I didn’t want to go, but I also didn’t want to keep walking around in bloodstains. Not when I was already gossip fodder.

So I followed her. Let her help. Got myself together.

When I returned to the table, he was scrolling through something on his phone. But the second I sat down, he looked right at me.

“Pretty, sure. But I liked you better last night when you were begging under me with nothing on.”

I blinked.

Was that supposed to be a compliment? A joke? Or a warning?

Before I could melt on the spot, the waiters began arriving with food. And not just food, gourmet signature dishes like it was some royal banquet. Plates lined up, hot and expensive.

I narrowed my eyes. Whoever this guy was, he wasn’t normal. He didn’t just throw money around. He owned the whole table without trying.

I remembered the driver calling him Alpha.

Was he really?

Even if he was, Johan still had more power. Or at least, I thought he did.

I cleared my throat. “About what happened yesterday… That was just a one-time thing. I’m not looking for anything more. So after we eat, we part ways. Got it?”

His eyes darkened a little. The air shifted.

“Are you sure you can do that so easily?”

His voice was calm, but I heard the threat underneath it. Not a violent one. A possessive one.

I held his gaze. “I loved him for ten damn years. And in the end, he tossed me aside like trash. Love is poison, and I drank too much of it. Now? I survive. That’s all I do. I won’t let myself fall ever again.”

His face didn’t change much, but something in his eyes cooled. “Then screw love. But if your bed ever feels too cold again, you know who made it burn last time.”

I almost choked on my water. My lips twitched. This man was out of his mind.

We ate mostly in silence after that, but the tension between us was nowhere near gone.

He didn’t say much, but his presence filled the space. Even the way he held his fork screamed power and class. Like he grew up among alphas.

Which only confirmed it for me. He came from a powerful family.

And that was a problem. Because I swore I’d never get tangled up with men like that again.

The livestream was still playing.

Johan had made it to the hospital. His chest was heaving. His eyes went red the moment he saw the knife.

“Tell me what you want! Anything! Just don’t hurt her!”

Suzette screamed, “Johan! Help me!”

The guy with the knife freaked out, swinging wildly.

In a flash, Johan lunged, grabbed Suzette, pulled her out. The blade caught his arm. Blood sprayed.

“Johan!”

Suzette collapsed into him, sobbing. He bled all over the floor. The attacker got tackled and dragged away.

It was a mess. But to me? It was clear as daylight.
