I hated that I’d hurt them, I felt so sorry for them to have a mate like me, they deserved better, they deserved someone stronger.
As I pulled on my shoes by the door, I wondered if Koda would go back to Blake, maybe he’d finally take her as his chosen now that he was free of me.
When I walked outside, the guards patrolling the area looked at me in confusion and exchanged strange glances but I ignored them and continued to walk off the property and towards the front gates.
When I reached the gates, a guard stepped forward and bowed and smiled at me but then he looked at my throat and took a few steps back and seemed very nervous and fidgety.
“Good evening Luna” He said, his voice deep and cautious “Are you going somewhere?”
“I’m leaving, open the gate please”
The guard looked uncomfortable and stared from me to the manor
“Do the prince’s know you’re going out at this time of night alone?”
“I don’t need their permission to go anywhere” I snapped, I just wanted to leave and find a place to cry myself dry, I didn’t want to keep talking “Nor do I have to explain myself to you!”
“I apologize Luna, it’s just” He stuttered as a female guard came over to us “We have orders not to let you leave the manor on your own, I will just link the Alpha’s and see if”
“I don’t need” I began to shout at the man but then I heard running behind us and I turned to see my mates.
“MADDIE!”
“MADELYN WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” Jaxson shouted as he reached me, causing dirt to flick up and hit me ‘WHERE ARE YOU GOING?”
“I’m leaving” I told them “Tell him to open the gate, he won’t let me go”
“What are you talking about?!” Koda asked, confusing me by looking wounded “Leaving, leaving where, why?!”
“I thought this was what you wanted” I admitted, why were they both looking so hurt and betrayed, they’d just shown me that they didn’t want me
“Excuse me?!” Jaxson spat angrily “Why the f*ck would we want that?!”
“You both walked away!” I reminded them as tears filled my eyes “I thought you didn’t want me!”
The guards looked confused as they watched our exchange and the twins looked horrified
“Are you out of your mind!?” Koda snapped
“Of course we want you!” Jaxson took my bag and shoved it towards his brother before he grabbed my arm and pulled me up over his shoulder and without another word, he marched us angrily back into the house.
“PUT ME DOWN!” I demanded and hit his back but he just ignored me and continued into the house
Jaxson didn’t put me down until we were back in the bedroom and he turned to Koda who threw my bag angrily on the floor.
“NOW YOU LISTEN TO ME!” Jaxson yelled and I stepped back on fear “YOU BELONG TO US NOW AND IF YOU EVER TRY TO LEAVE US AGAIN, I SWEAR, I WILL LOCK YOU IN THIS HOUSE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!”
“Jax cool down!” Koda demanded but I could see that he was just as furious as his brother “Maddie, how could you just leave us without even talking to us first, how could you leave to begin with, do you have any idea how much that hurt us, I came back in and you were gone, I have never felt fear like that ever!?”
“You both left first!” I pointed out “You didn’t want me, I showed you who I really am and you left, I just!”
Jaxson growled and pulled me into a tight hug
“Is that what you think happened?” He said, his voice rough with pain “No sweetheart, we both left to calm down, we were both upset that you’d been hurt”
“And that you’d hurt yourself” Koda added as he came over and hugged us too “But we love you, we weren’t rejecting you because of what you’d showed us, we just wanted to calm down and didn’t want you to see us like that before we talked things through”
“So.. so you don’t think I’m weak?” I asked on disbelief “You still want me?”
“Always” Koda answered
“Forever Madelyn” Jax leaned back and took my face in his hands “I’m so sorry we made you think we didn’t want you after showing us your memories but our feelings haven’t changed”
“And if anyones weak, it’s us, not you” Koda told me “Look at everything you survived, you are stronger then both of us, we are so proud to have such a strong mate, we just felt guilty for not being their for you, seeing you in pain was the worse experience of our lives”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, they didn’t think I was weak, they loved me, they want to stay with me
“You really want me?”
“You silly girl” Jaxson wound his arms back around my waist and lifted me off the ground before kissing me roughly on the lips “Just so you have no doubts in the future, I will spell it out for you, there is nothing you could ever do to make us stop loving you”
“We want to be with you forever” Koda touched my cheek and kissed me gently “So please, please never try to run from us again”
Tears fell down my cheeks as I nodded and pressed my face into Jaxsons neck
“I’m sorry” I wept “I just.. I thought you’d changed your minds, I thought”
Kodas arms wrapped around us again as his pressed his face against my shoulder
“We have longed for you for decades” He told me “We will never change our minds, we will only ever want you”
“I don’t want you to want me just because of the bond”
“It’s not the only reason” Jaxson shook his head at me “The bond just makes you realize who your mate is and forms the connection but everything we’ve learnt about since meeting is the reason we want you”
“You are beautiful” Koda told me “And kind and sweet and you are an amazing cook”
I giggled “Of course you’d care about the food”
“We care about you” Koda corrected “So please, don’t doubt our feelings, we know who we want and it’s you, so don’t leave us again”
I leant back and wiped my face “Okay” I said shakily but then Jax smirked
“You know what?” Jax looked from me to his brother “I think she deserves to be published for trying to leave us”
I looked nervously from Jax to Koda who smiled and nodded
“I agree” He said and ran his fingers down my arm “What do you have in mind?”
“But.. but I said I was sorry” I pointed out nervously “And I thought you didn’t want me first?”
Jax walked over to the bed and tossed me gently onto it
“Not good enough” He said as he reached one hand over the back of his shoulder and in one smooth motion, pulled his shirt off “Remove your clothing”
I looked up blushing and stared at Koda “Koda?”
“Dont look to me for help” He commented and pulled off his own shirt “I fully agree with my brother, you need to be published, not only did you try to leave us but you allowed the men outside to see you in your slip”
