When I walked out again, Jax smiled and reached out “Come and sit with us”
“You don’t have to babysit me” I told them “I know you have a lot of work”
“Scr*w work” Koda smiled “Jax can do it later”
“It’s a good thing, you got most of the brains” Jax glared at him “Because you didn’t inherit a sense of humor, and I’ve already told Cole to handle things for the rest of the day”
I sat down in between my guys, and pulled up my knees to my chest, as I leaned into Koda’s shoulder, while Jax’s took my hand and squeezed it in comfort.
“Do you need anything, sweetheart?”
“Just the two of you”
“You have us” Koda gently started to run his hand up and down my thigh in comfort “Do you want to talk about what happened?
“Not yet”
We sat in silence for a few minutes, but I noticed Jax staring at the letter with a frustrated look on his face, and I turned to him.
“Can we read the letter now?” Jax asked, and me, and Koda sighed, and hit him in the back of the head “What, you want to know too”
“There is seriously something wrong with you” Koda declared “The nanny must have dropped you on your head, at some point when you were a baby. Maddie, is upset, the letter isn’t important”
“I’m not upset” Both men turned and looked at me as if I was crazy “Okay, fine, I’m upset”
I stood up and started pacing around angrily.
“You should talk about it” Koda said.
“I don’t want to talk” I huffed
“Sweetheart, you shouldn’t bottle things up” Jax said gently, as my heart began to race in anger ‘You have Ava now, if you bottle up your emotions, it won’t end well”
“I SAID I DON’T WANT TO TALK!” I screamed and kicked the closet object, which happened to be my dresser, which cracked
“Maddie?” Koda said sadly as he went to come over to me, but I growled and stepped back.
“WHY DIDN’T HE WANT ME?!” I shouted “HE LEFT ME AGAIN!”
My legs shook, and I quickly sat down on my knees, and cried into my hands. I hated them seeing me break down, but I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.
Strong thick arms wrapped around me, and I was engulfed in their comforting scents “We want you” Jaxson told me “You don’t need him, you don’t need any of them, Koda and I are never letting them near you”
“Can you hold me tighter” I begged, and they quickly tightened their grips “I thought he liked me, how could he just leave me”
“Maybe he explained it in the letter” Jax suggested, and Koda laughed angrily as he leaned back.
“What the damn hell is wrong with you!” He shook his head, and I laughed for the first time “A dog has more patience than you” He added before looking back at me “Why don’t we have a movie day, you can shut off your mind, and you can read the letter, when you’re ready”
“Here we go” Jax sighed dramatically “Now we’re going to get stuck watching action movies all day, I’d rather be working”
“We will not” Koda argued “Baby, why don’t you pick a movie, we literally have everything”
“I.. um.. I’ve never sat through an entire movie” I told them “Alpha Troy never liked me joining the family on movie nights, and I was to busy with work to go to the cinema”
The twins looked outraged “Well, that changes today!” Jax declared and scooped me up from the floor “Koda, pick a movie, NO action cra*p, it’s boring”
“Fine, what ever!”
Jax placed me down on the bed, and we all snuggled up as Koda put a movie on. He had an amused look on his face as the movie started until Jax growled, causing him to laugh.
“Dam it Cody!” Jax complained “I said no action cr*p”
“You can choose the next one, shut up” He smiled brightly as the words “THE EQUALIZER” came on the screen.
I managed to get through three movies and a lot of snacks, before I drifted off to sleep in Jaxson’s arms.
DREAM/VISION
Fake Tyrone was standing shirtless in the pouring rain, each of his wrists had shackles that were attached to chains that were connected to the ground.
A hooded figure walked over to him and I saw fear in his face “THIS IS THE SECOND TIME. YOU HAVE DISOBEYED ME, WHEN IT COMES TO MADELYN, AND IT WILL BE THE LAST!”
The hooded female held out her hand, and fire shot out in a large stream, over my father, who screamed in agony.
END OF DREAM
I woke up from the nightmare with a jolt, and Koda jumped, as he came around “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine” I told him, though my heart was racing “It was just a dream”
“Okay” Koda kissed my forehead “Do you want to talk about it?”
“No, what time is it?” I rubbed my eyes
“Around 3am” Jax murmured and pulled me against his chest “Go back to sleep, sweetheart”
I curled up, and tried to get back to sleep, but I couldn’t. It wasn’t long before the twins were fast asleep again, but I decided to get up. After what I’d just seen, I wanted to read my father’s letter.
I climbed out of bed, slipping from my mate’s arms, but Koda growled, and tried to pull me back in, so I quickly used my powers and pushed him back with a soft wind, and moved my pillow into his arms. He murmured something incoherent, and pressed his face into my pillow, and I continued to get out of bed.
I sat down in front of the fire, my body warming instantly, as I pulled my legs up and shakily opened the letter.
I took a deep breath and looked down.
My little flame.
I know you deserve better than a letter, and one day, I will tell you all of this in person, but for now, with the way things stand, this is all I can do for you.
I cannot imagine what you must think about us, but please know, that everything we did was for your benefit.
In order for the molt to occur, you had to endure pain. A phoenix can only rise from the ashes, and the molt must happen, your Phoenix side, will consume and destroy you if it stays locked inside.
