Rolling my eyes, I gave him the keys and we headed to the car. Playing with my necklace, Zach started the car and we drove following the directions Kelly gave up. The club was in Springville and we wanted to take back roads and get familiar with the area. I kept my eyes open and my ears listening. Every now and then I would catch a glimpse of eyes in the forest and I knew they were a wolf.
“You do realize there are wolves out there. I can catch a glimpse of them every now and then.” I said to Zach quietly.
“Yeah, I saw them too. Are you okay?”
“Yes, why wouldn’t I be?”
“You are playing with your necklace and tapping your nails on the door. You are fidgeting, which means you are nervous.”
Hump, “I do not” I said as I folded my arms under my chest, making my necklace turn in the bulge of my cleavage.
Zach just snickered at me. We were silent till we reached the club. It might have only been Sunday but this place was busy. Apparently, lady’s night is Wednesday and Sundays. Suddenly I felt very lively! I was ready to get in and have a drink and relax. I felt good.
Walking up to the bouncer, Zach handed him our IDs. He nodded and unlocked the rope and let us in. We were hit with loud hip-hop music and the smell of sweat, sex and alcohol. Disco lights were going off in every direction. Making our way around people dry humping on the tables, we got to the bar. It was early but the club was starting to pick up.
“One Jack Daniels and Dr. Pepper and one Crown and coke.” Zach ordered for us. The bartender nodded and started working on our drinks. I leaned my elbow on the bar and looked around. I spotted a high-top table and once Zach handed me my drink, I led him over there. The table was off to the side but close enough to the dance floor to see everyone.
Zach and I both had 3 drinks before his phone buzzed.
“Everyone here?” I shouted at him so he could hear me.
“Yeah, I told them we were at the high-top table. They will be here shortly.”
“Oh, good! Might as well give me the keys since you will be fucking Kelly in the alley”, I teased. It earned me a glare and he was about to smart something off when he noticed Kelly.
“Over here!” Zach yelled. He half way got up but Kelly spotted him and made her way over.
“Hey guys! My sister, Brooke, came with me, I hope that is, okay?” Kelly shouted as she slipped between Zach’s legs while standing. Zach placed his hand on her hip and pulled her close. She was wearing a red halter top leather dress that had a deep V neck and stopped just below her ass. She had on two-inch heels. And her hair was pulled back into a ponytail.
“Of course, where is a guy for me!?” I joked.
“Well, I was going to bring Wyatt but he is a huge dick and his other friends are on business, so it’s a girl’s night!” Kelly yelled.
“Where is Brooke?” I asked.
Kelly opened her mouth to respond when suddenly Zach tensed up and stood straight up. His eyes went straight black and I knew his wolf was making his appearance.
“Mate”
“Mate”
“What the fuck,” Kelly said and looked to see where Zach was looking. Her eyes got huge and she looked back at Zach connecting the dots and stepped away immediately.
An unknown female ran up to Zach and threw her arms around him. He put his face in her neck and took a deep breath and relaxed. “Mine” is all I heard him say.
Looking over at Kelly, she had a sad but happy expression on her face. “Kelly!”
“Oh yeah, well um this is my sister Brooke, Zach, Nina, meet Brooke. Who apparently is Zach’s mate?”
“You, okay?” I said, half smirking. I mean, they just met, it’s not like she had feelings for him yet.
Laughing, “Oh yeah, now I am going to have to work to get some dick tonight!” That’s my type of girl, I thought.
“hahah yeah well, that makes two of us. So, since my friend is now your brother-in-law, what pack are you guys from?” Kelly slid into an empty seat next to me and Zach and Brooke were in their own little world making out. “We are the Alpha’s daughters from the Smoky Mountain Pack.”
“I kind of figured you were from that pack. I didn’t want to cause any trouble on our vacation.”
“Oh, you’re fine! We get a lot of travelers and, for the most part, they are harmless, but we do keep a close eye on the town and areas. I would like to ask you some questions though.”
At that, Zach’s head snapped over to us and made eye contact with me. He was silently asking how much we could tell them. He sat back down and pulled Brooke into his lap. She was a taller girl at 5’8, skinny with very curly dark chocolate hair. I didn’t peg her for a fighter.
