“How often do I have to tell you? Don’t fucking wake me in the morning.” I growl as I walk into the bathroom and slam the door shut.
I step into the shower, where the temperature is nice and hot, allowing the water to cascade down my back and my mind wanders back to the last piece of paper I read last night. Even after a good night’s sleep, it makes no sense to me, meaning that I will have to head back to the Archive.
After breakfast, I see Hayden, Ryder, Dawson and Tyson waiting outside the Alpha office. A moment later, I see Makay stomping out of the office, followed by Dad and Alpha Lincoln.
“Let’s go see your Brother off.” Dad says as he passes me.
“No, thanks. He made a mess of it and he knows how Thyrius and I feel about his behavior. I will be in the Archive.” I answer, before I walk away.
Meadow’s p.o.v.
I am glad that I am still underaged and don’t have to be present during the Full Moon.
I spend the evening reading through the subjects I have exams on tomorrow, not because I haven’t studied them yet. No, I want to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
My job as a Team-leader for Miles’ Squad is amazing and we have even done an assignment for another Squad. Every male in our Squad has proven that I can trust them and that has improved our dynamic as a Squad.
Elder Chelsea calls me to her office in the morning and I have barely set foot inside or she receives a call for Elder Morton. Both motion for me to be quiet, “Alpha Lincoln, what can I do for you?” Elder Morton asks and my heart skips a beat.
“I need a favor. Makay, my Beta’s Son, has crossed a line and I need your help.” Alpha Lincoln says and I listen as he tells Elder Morton what the guy has been up to.
“I am hoping that you can put him in an all-female team and have them knock some sense into him.” Alpha Lincoln says and Rebel has an evil smirk on her face.
“Tell him you can help, that Makay has to be here tomorrow at nine and not a minute later. Also the Team-leader will decide when Makay is ready to return home.” I tell Elder Morton and he relays my message to Alpha Lincoln.
“If you put a time limit on it, he will behave himself for that period of time and he might not have learned his lesson.” Elder Chelsea answers, when Alpha Lincoln asks why they can’t give him an end time.
I can hear a growl in the background and I smile at Elder Chelsea, “Sounds like Makay doesn’t like that idea, Alpha Lincoln.” She says and after a few more pleasantries they disconnect the call.
After getting my next assignment from Elder Chelsea, I head back to our Squad house and I walk straight to Miles’ office.
First I tell him about Makay and he is laughing his ass off, “Meadow, show that Idiot that your team is better trained than he is and make sure you do not send him home before he is ready.” Miles says.
I hand him the file on my new assignment and after he has read it, he hands it back to me. “Maybe the perfect way to show Makay what you are made of.” He says and I leave his office before I link my team to meet me in my office.
Yeah, as a Team-leader I have my own office and I use it to study for my Tech study.
“Ladies, we have two assignments.” I say as my team enters and after telling them about Makay, I hear a lot of things they want to put him through. From having him do all the boring stuff to carrying around all our bags, but I think they liked my idea to use him as a sparring partner for all of us a whole lot better.
I hand the file to Maryan and she quickly hands out the assignments to the rest of our team. Before the day is over, we will have all the information we will need and then I might be able to understand what is bugging me about this file.
It concerns a kidnapping, but the Alpha doesn’t want us to rush in. He did demand that we take out the male, because he doesn’t want him to put another female through this again.
I have studied quite a few cases on kidnapping, but none of them resemble this MO and that is what is bugging me. In most cases someone follows a certain pattern when it isn’t the first time and most of the time it is what gets them caught.
The Elders have a database on MOs used by criminals and the MO used in this case isn’t in there, meaning that this is his first kidnapping or at least the first time someone reported a kidnapping. Big question now is, why did he kidnap this female and why does the Alpha want him dead?
I put the file aside and concentrate on my studies, it will help me clear my mind for the time being.
Makay will arrive in the morning and after he has put his luggage in his room, we can start with our training. He will find out that we don’t train as much as he seems to think we need to train and after two days he will think that he can beat us at every turn.
However, I have a surprise for him in store. On the third day we will be sparring with him and his first opponent will be me, I will make him see that his head is screwed on the wrong way.
First things first though, he needs to arrive on time and something tells me that he won’t. That he will take his sweet time to get here and that he hopes to get away with it.
I open a map on my laptop that contains the files of all my team-members and I make a new file for Makay, a file to keep track of his screw-ups and achievements.
“Can we go to see Arion?” Rebel asks me and after I take another look at my assignments for Tech, I power down my laptop. I inform Captain Miles where I am going and he tells me to have fun.
Rebel dashes off to Uncle Major’s territory and as always she finds a spot in the sun to lie down, waiting for Arion to show up.
The dark grey Lycan walks into view pretty quickly and it surprises me and Rebel that he keeps coming closer, until he lies down on the other side of this so-called border.
