“First of all Luna, we have lined up events at the pack; The Alpha of the Lotus stone pack requested that his unmated members should visit in hopes of possible matches,” She began.
“They will do anything to get an alliance and if many of them find their mates here, they might get it,” Steven added, shaking his head.
“Should we confirm?”
“What does the Alpha think about this?” I asked, I didn’t think I was the right person to talk to about this.
“You make these decisions now Luna, you are the host,” Steven said.
“Do we have a budget for it?”
“The accountants can find us something I’m sure,”
“You have accountants?” I asked, back in my old pack, it was Evelyn who handled the money and gave it out. It pleased me that the Golden Stone had a structure for how things were done.
“I think it will be good to let them interact,” I said and she marked it.
“The second agenda is the school PTA, as the Luna you are part of it and we shall need to plan for the next meeting,” Steven sighed.
Holding his head, how hard can planning a PTA be?
“So we shall need staff?”
“No, the parents in the PTA have to volunteer, while others bake and cook and some will decorate,” Merabi explains.
“I hope I’m not paired with Lanford to make the pies, he checks me out all the time and Bob just gets upset as if all this is my fault,” He complained.
“We are not here to discuss your marital problems,” Merabi smiled tightly. We continued to discuss the programs that were lined up and by the time they left it was almost twelve, and my stomach growled.
I went to the kitchen to have a snack ” This is the busiest pack I’ve ever been to, Juanita there are all these things lined up,”
I stopped talking when the man behind the cooker turned around to me. I coughed, it was Alpha Edward, what was he doing here? He looked handsome. We stared at each other for a long time, and he went to the fridge, getting out milk.
“Yes, being Luna is not the easiest job, there are these events, meetings at schools, traffic duties and so much more.” I wasn’t paying anymore attention to Juanita, my gaze was on what the Alpha was making… Chocolate chip cookies. He poured the milk into a glass and went out of the room. I exhaled, it was so HOT in here. My wolf purred.
“Why was he making that?” I asked.
“He is probably canceling game night with his daughter and he couldn’t tell her empty-handed,”
I nodded and grabbed one of the cookies he left. As soon as I chewed, I moaned. It’s delicious!
“Yep, that’s the one thing he’s good at making,” She giggled.
The next week my duties were increasing and I had to help with the budget at the pack house and shifts.
I got a report that Candace and June caused a traffic menace near the school last week. I wrote an order to make them do community service. For three months four times a week, they will pick litter and remove graffiti from walls under the supervision of two officers who hate their guts. They thought that they could do what they did and just get away with no punishment because she is the Alpha’s lover. Not on my watch. I will make sure that they do more work in this pack, it’s just sad that I can’t make them do house chores as they are not of Omega status.
“Madam, we are having guests tomorrow for dinner, what must be prepared?”
Oh yes, I was informed that some ranked members will be coming for dinner.
“How many and who are these people?”
“They are ten, mostly we shall have the generals and their families,” She said and I nodded. Lena and I went through the menu for a long time and nothing pleased me, it would be the first time hosting an intimate dinner for highly ranked members and I wanted it to be perfect, we just couldn’t have anything.
“I think honey roast duck and braised short ribs are good,” I said and she agreed with me.
“What kind of salad should be served?” She asked.
“We can have the gourmet,” I closed the menu and gave it to her.
“What about the decoration in the dining room?”
“Simple but elegant, I love our dining room,” I yawned. I was exhausted. I climbed up the stairs slowly, stretching as I went up to the bed, it was already 9 pm. I passed by Love’s room to kiss her good night but she was already asleep, her cheeks were tear-stained and I worried, why was she crying? With my new duties, I haven’t been seeing her a lot but I always come to say goodnight.
I stayed with her a while longer, stroking her hair gently. I kissed her forehead and stood up to leave but met the Alpha on the door. We didn’t speak, only looked at each other, tingles erupted on my body even though we weren’t touching and my heart was beating so fast I’m sure he could hear it.
I was forced to tear my gaze away and bowed, going past him but he spoke.
“Love… um… she thinks you don’t like her anymore,” I closed my eyes, and his voice sent a spine on my back.
Caliana’s POV
“Why would she think that?” I asked,
“I don’t know why kids think anything,” He said and I sighed at his hard tone.
“I’ll talk to her tomorrow,” I said and he grabbed my hand and tingles shot through me, however, he didn’t release it.
“Follow me,” I badly needed some sleep but I followed him silently to his home office, he sat behind his desk and gestured for me to sit on the guest’s chairs.
“As Luna of the pack you are entitled to benefits,” I raised my eyebrows, I didn’t know that.
“A monthly salary, car, and some privileges that ladies like,” He said.
“Oh,”
“Yes, so here is your salary…” He handed me a check and I gasped at the amount, I have never received so much, not even working day in and out back home.
“50,000?”
“Yes, you’ve done a good job this past month,” I didn’t realize he’d notice my work around here.
“Thanks,” I smiled, I knew exactly what to do with this money.
“Alright, I’ll go to bed,” I said, he hadn’t dismissed me just yet, Alpha Edward was staring at me, looking at every detail on my body and face, his eyes lingering on my lips and eyes before he nodded his head. I walked to my room happy, I threw myself on the bed and danced. Taking off my clothes, I crawled into bed where I slept.
