“No, I don’t mind at all, but they didn’t have to do that. I have some money and I was just going to use some of it as my jeans don’t fit me anymore. I am excited to get to know Bree better, but no one must pay for my stuff, I was just going to go by Goodwill to grab a few things for myself. I am used to getting my own stuff.” I tell Nicole.
“Honey it is a done deal, just let someone help you out for once. It will be all right” Nicole tells me.
We go down to the first floor and I see a black Tahoe parked in the driveway. Nicole heads towards the SUV and opens the back door, climbing into the third-row seat. I look in the front seats and See Dixon in the driver’s seat and Bree in the passenger seat, Jessica climbs in behind me.
“Hey guys, are you both going with us to go shopping?” I ask them.
“Yea, mom, and dad wanted me to go with you all to make sure that you were safe since you don’t know your way around here yet,” Dixon said.
“I need to go by Wells Fargo first before they close at noon. I need to get my money out of my account before my aunt Sylvia cleans out my account. She already spent money that belonged to me, and I would hate for her to get her hands on my hard-earned waitressing money too” I told Dixon.
“No problem, I know exactly where Wells Fargo is, and we will go there first,” Dixon tells me as he starts driving down the driveway.
Dixon is a great driver, and we head to the main road to leave the pack. Five minutes later we are at the gate and Dixon slows down to speak to the guards at the gate before we leave. He just wanted them to know who was in the SUV today, and that we were out shopping.
As we exit the gate, Dixon tells us that he always likes to let them know who is in the vehicle, as well as it lets him know who the on-duty guards are, in case of emergencies. That is smart, and I think I am going to start doing that too.
We head straight to the bank first and thankfully mom, I mean my aunt Sylvia, had not remembered that she was on my account, and hadn’t cleaned it out yet. I went ahead and took all my money out of my account and made a mental note that I would come back after school on Monday to start another account that only has me on it. I felt immense relief that my money was still there, I mean it was only $6,500 dollars but that was all my extra money from my tips that I could put aside for the last 2 years since I started working at age 16, minus living expenses.
“Dixon, could you take me to Goodwill please?” I called from the backseat.
Bree turns around in her seat in front of me and says “Uh, NO! We are going to the mall honey. I have my dad’s black card and we are using it. Mom and dad want us to. Don’t forget we have the ceremony tonight for you all becoming a member of our pack. You will need a nice dress for that. You just told Nicole and Jessica about your jeans not fitting and you losing 13 lbs. in the last month. Please just let us do this for you. I felt terrible when I saw you only had that one little suitcase and duffle bag for ALL your belongings, even your shoes. Just let us get you some new jeans, workout clothes, some shoes, and some lingerie. You need it, and you deserve it, let us spoil you a little”.
I could see Dixon blush a little when Bree said lingerie and I felt bad for him, I knew he was uncomfortable with the turn in the conversation.
“Okay, I am good with the dress, but I only really need two pairs of jeans and some shirts and a few workout pieces. I can get some new shoes later this week, and I can buy my own underclothes. But I would like a nice dress for when we are introduced to the pack” I tell Bree.
