Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 21 – My Secret Lycan Life

Maleah’s p.o.v.

I had my meeting with my new designers, and both of them are confident that they can open the boutique by the end of next week. I have no doubt they will make this a success, and I am currently talking to Stan about the Spring Ball. He is going to design the outfits for the males.

“I want you to incorporate the colors I am using into their outfits, and knowing that Alpha Dax and his Brothers like your work, it should be easy enough,” I say to Stan.

He writes down the colors I use and the names of the males that go with them, but then I remember Colter and Mack will be accompanying them as well.

“Stan, I need you to design two more outfits. Our Head Assassin and his Father will join them, but there is no female accompanying them. Can you pick a color that will complement the other colors we are using?” I ask him.

He asks me a few questions about Mack and Colter, writes down everything I tell him, and says he will have the designs ready in a few days.

“Your team can make the outfits by the start of next week. With males, you hardly ever have to make adjustments,” he says as we walk out of the office.

I head back to the hotel to check out and go home. There is no need for me to stay here, and I know Fortune is itching to go for a run in our own territory.

I know Diablo was found this morning by a servant who was going to clean his room, and the rumors about how he died and how he was found have spread through

Albarr. Fortune is front and center when we walk into the hotel, and I see my Mother standing at the front desk.

“I am sorry, Ma’am. Miss D’Angelo is not in the hotel; she left over two hours ago,” I hear the receptionist say to my Mother. She keeps my Mother’s attention on her as I slip into the elevator.

The hotel staff was informed to keep my Mother and Alpha Bradley away from me, and I knew they would do anything they could to make that happen. I have just placed my bags on the couch in the sitting area when there is a knock on the door. I open it after confirming who it is.

“I am sorry, Miss D’Angelo. Your Mother has decided to take a seat in the lobby and is determined to wait until you return,” the hotel manager says.

“Can you help me out? I want to head home, but I still need to check out,” I say to him, and he tells me not to worry about it.

“I will send a security guard up with your bill, and he will guide you to our parking garage. Your Mother can wait a long time for you to return,” he says before turning on his heel. It only takes ten minutes for the security guard to show up.

I sign the bill and hand it back to him before following him through the hotel. The security guard stops me from walking into the garage any further.

“Sir, you are not allowed in here. The valet can get your car for you. Just head back up the stairs and hand him your card,” I hear a voice from my left say. A very familiar growl follows, and I hear a door slam shut. Looks like Alpha Bradley isn’t a complete idiot, and I am grateful that the guard saw him before it was too late.

When I get to my car, the security guard tells me to use the other exit. “Take a right down there, and you will leave through the exit for the staff,” he says, pointing in the direction I should go. I thank him for the safe passage out of the hotel. I pull out of the parking spot and follow his directions to leave the garage through the other exit, smiling as I turn up the volume.

I had placed my phone on silent because I didn’t want anyone to disturb me during my meeting with Stan, and now I am glad I forgot to switch the sound back on as I see my Mother’s caller ID flashing on the screen.

For the next half hour, the screen flashes every two minutes, and Fortune is ready to force a shift. But I manage to calm her down by telling her she gets to go for a run once we are inside our territory. I don’t want to risk letting her out along the way because I wouldn’t put it past Alpha Bradley to drive down to Blood Crescent Pack.

I doubt he will suspect me of killing his Son, but he is still after me for a reason, and with Diablo out of the way, I think there was another reason why Alpha Bradley wanted me as a member of his Pack. I just wish I could figure out what that reason is and hopefully get him to back off, but I won’t be holding my breath.

What the hell did my Mother tell him about me that is so damn interesting to him?

The guard at the gate recognizes my car and waves me right on through, but I pull to a full stop just inside our borders. I manage to get out of my car before Fortune forces a shift, and she takes off into the forest closest to us.

Fortune is too pissed to think straight right now, and my experience is that it will take her hours to calm down enough for me to take control again. I doubt our Mate will be able to calm her when she is like this.

I know I just have to let her run, and hopefully no one will make the mistake of coming near us because that won’t end well for them. Fortune is too pissed off right now to see the difference between friend and foe.

Mack’s p.o.v.

I am in a meeting with our leadership when the guard at the gate mind-links me, “Maleah just drove across the border. She barely got out of her car when she shifted and took off into the forest.” I turn toward my Father and ask him if it is normal for a female to shift as fast as Maleah did, but he doesn’t seem to understand what I am talking about.

I explain what the guard told me, and I hear Dad mutter the word “Fuck.” When he does that, it means trouble.

“Make sure the Warriors keep an eye out for her, but they are not to approach her. If anyone shifts like that, it means their Wolf or Lycan is beyond pissed, and approaching her could cause severe injuries,” Dad says before walking out of the office. My best guess is that he is going to pay Diego a visit.

Every Pack-member arrived home yesterday – a tradition we have had for centuries – and it has everything to do with the Spring Ball. We want to know who has found his or her Mate, and if they haven’t, they get a chance to attend the Spring Ball.

So far, we only have two males and one female who want to attend the Spring Ball, and Ariel is helping them with their outfits. Maleah was the only one who wasn’t within our borders, but we knew where she was, and Dax knew she wouldn’t be attending the Ball because she had told him herself.

“Mack, can you go to the gate and get Maleah’s car? Diego doubts she will return there after her run, and I have to agree with him.” I hear Dad ask in my head, and after explaining it to Dominic, he tells me to take care of it.
