Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 218 – Mated To My Obsessive Stepbrother (Kester & Kasmine) Novel Free Online by Velvet Desires

My chest tightened.

It was 5 PM, but the sun was already dragging its golden corpse down the sky. The road was lonely without a single car in sight.

The world had stopped breathing. So had I.

I froze with my hands still on the wheel, my heart tearing itself in half.

“Shit… shit… SHIT!”

This wasn’t happening. This wasn’t real.

It couldn’t be.

Norlan was just behind me. He was just fucking there.

My body jolted forward like it wanted to leap out before my brain could catch up.

Then I froze. Because my brain couldn’t process what my eyes were screaming at me. I stared at the scene so hard, almost as if I could will it to be a lie.

My heart dropped so fast it felt like my chest caved in.

“Fuck…” I slammed my fist on my steering.

Confusion and panic were setting in. My hands were already trembling. My stomach lurched, and I felt bile rising. Everything inside me was splitting open, and my thoughts were tearing apart like wet paper,

What do I do?

What do I do?

I had to… Fuck. I had to go back there and get my friend. Or should call for help while I proceed to the hospital to see if Kasmine is fine and then return to make sure the help I’d call for certainly arrived?

Fuck!

My head spun. I couldn’t think straight.

This wasn’t fucking fair.

This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.

I couldn’t be in two places at once.

But both of them needed me now.

Was this a fucking test from the Moon Goddess?

I picked up my phone immediately and dialed 911, informing them of the emergency.

The second I hung up, I flung the door open and bolted.

Gravel crunched under my boots as I sprinted toward the wreck, dodging chunks of metal and glass strewn across the road like scattered bones. The scent of burning rubber hit me first. But beneath all that was blood.

Too much fucking blood.

“Norlan!” I shouted, my voice cracking halfway out of my throat. “NORLAN!”

No response.

The closer I got, the worse it looked. The front end of his car was crushed in like it had folded around something solid. The driver’s side door was bent at a grotesque angle, and through the shattered glass, I could see him slumped forward and motionless, blood trickling from his temple, soaking his shirt.

There was a deep gash on his shoulder, the jagged edge of the steering wheel pressing into his ribs.

Fuck…” I breathed, stumbling to a halt.

He wasn’t healing. Norlan… wasn’t healing.

And that was when real panic slammed into me.

His wolf wasn’t responding. That only meant one thing.

“No, no, no you’re okay. You’re gonna be okay.” My voice cracked as the twisted frame. “Don’t you dere leave,” I rasped. “I’m not strong dropped to my knees beside the door, frantically pulling at hough for that, man. Not you. Anyone but you.”

Still nothing.

I let out a growl and yanked harder. The metal didn’t budge.

“Fuck this,” I snarled.

I let Zeth share control, and with a roar, I grabbed the side of the door and ripped it.

Metal groaned and shrieked in protest, but it gave. The door tore away with a screech and flew to the side,

I leaned in fast and unbuckled Norlan, careful not to jar him too hard. His blood was warm against my hands. I hated how fucking still he was.

“Stay with me,” I muttered, hoisting him into my arms. “Don’t you dare fucking die on me! I can’t do this without you, please.”

His head lolled back, and his breathing was too shallow.

“You promised,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “You said we’d make it to the end together, remember?” I felt warm liquid trail down my cheek.

“You promised we’d be the old bastards cackling in rocking chairs, watching our pups run wild. Don’t you fucking go now, Norlan. Don’t you fucking do this to me!”

This was my fault. All of it. If I’d waited two more seconds. If I’d told him to stay behind. If I hadn’t driven like a fucking lunatic… If I hadn’t called him to come over to the house… If… Fuck!

I stumbled away from the wreckage with him in my arms, with my mind spinning and my chest ready to implode.

This was too much.

Too fucking much.

I couldn’t lose both of them. Not today.

Not when I was just starting to believe happiness was finally within my reach.

This was the kind of pain that split you into pieces. The kind that made you question the very point of breathing.

This was too much for me to bear.

KESTER.

The sirens wailed like tortured spirits as we barreled into the hospital’s emergency bay. Medics burst out of the doors like ants from a disturbed nest, yanking open the van and hauling Norlan onto a stretcher.

Fuck.

Everything was falling apart.

I was drenched in my best friend’s blood. And the worst part? He sti wasn’t healing. Not even a twitch of regeneration. It felt like the world had forgotten he was a damn wolf!

That scared me mor than I wanted to admit…
