“Meadow has always had a rigorous training schedule, she can handle just about any male in our Squad and I have witnessed her putting unknown males in their place. Don’t underestimate her or us.” Maryan warns me, before she leaves me in front of my room.
I walk into my room to call my Brother, I want to know if he made any progress with the papers and maybe hear if anyone reported my stalling to Alpha Lincoln.
The first place I look is on my nightstand, but it isn’t there and I slowly and methodically search my room.
“Something wrong?” I hear someone asking from the doorway.
“Yeah, I can’t find my phone.” I answer and I turn around when I hear someone chuckle.
“Let me guess, Meadow is your team Captain?” Is the question I get and for a moment I think about turning my back on the male, before I nod my head.
“Then you can stop searching, she probably had it taken away. If you are the troublemaker that got appointed to her team, that is.” He says, before he walks away from my room.
I hear Blade chuckling in my head, he seems to think that this is funny. It is also the second time since getting my punishment that he has made himself heard, he is really pissed at me for getting into trouble and he hates that our Brother is angry with us.
Not that Blade agrees with me, but he also can’t stop me from speaking my mind and believe me that he has tried to stop me from talking.
I know that there are Packs that believe that any woman should be able to defend herself and that the leadership of a Pack should be at the front lines of a battle, but that would leave their Mates unprotected.
An easy way to take down a Pack, if you ask me and according to history it has happened quite often. Therefore I don’t believe that a woman should try to fight off an enemy, it will only result in their deaths a lot quicker and that will weaken their Mate.
It also takes a lot more training hours to train a woman to be able to do what a man can do and there is nothing that anyone can do or say to make me change my mind about that.
Maryan might think that Meadow had a rigorous training schedule, but it won’t prepare her to fight off a Warrior of my caliber. She lacks my height and she lacks my brute force, she will be no match for me.
My Brother once asked me what I would do if our fated Mate is a strong and capable Warrior, I had thought about it for a second or two and then I told him that I would reject her.
Blade refused to talk to me for two whole weeks after that, Myka and Thyrius had avoided us for even longer and Mom had sent me to stay with Magnus. None of them appreciated my honesty and it had changed my relationship with Myka completely.
He no longer confides in me if he has a personal problem and even on a day to day basis he would only speak to me if he had to but luckily that has gotten better over time. The only one Myka still talks to is Blade, but he never tells me what they talk about.
Myka’s p.o.v.
River had been surprised last night, when I told him that Alpha Lincoln wanted to talk to him.
Luckily I had anticipated that and had come up with the perfect excuse, “He wants to talk to everyone in the Pack, but he realized that talking with the Omegas first and then the Sigmas that it had looked as if he favored the Omegas.
So, now he is going to call in whoever he wants to talk to and no longer going from low to high rank.” I had said to River and he had actually believed me.
Magnus walks onto our floor and he grabs some coffee before sitting down. As the future Alpha, he will be joining us for the conversation that his Father will have with River and I get to be present at request of my Dad.
River and I finish our breakfast, before we head down to the ground floor and walk over to the Alpha office.
“Ever been called in by the Alpha?” Magnus asks teasingly and River shakes his head.
“Magnus and Myka, sit down on the couch and just pay attention.” Alpha Lincoln says, while pointing towards the couch.
“River, I want to get to know each Pack-member and I want to find out if they have any concerns or wishes. I start this conversation with the same question every time, what was your childhood like?” Alpha Lincoln asks and I wait for River to answer it.
“My Mother died when I was about four and Dad raised me by himself.” River answers, but I know it isn’t the answer that Alpha Lincoln or Dad wants to hear.
“No siblings?” Dad asks and we hear a soft growl come from River.
“River, your former Alpha made a mess of the archive and asking these questions will help us. So, why did you growl at Beta Lennox?” Alpha Lincoln asks.
For a moment, River is quiet and I look at Dad to see if he might be linking someone. A small shake of Dad’s head is enough answer for me and again I just wait for River to start talking.
“When I was two years old, an old friend from Dad had died during a Rogue attack. Not that I really understood it all at the time, but I did understand that someone took my Mother’s attention away from me.” River says, but it doesn’t make any sense to any of us.
“Can you explain that with a bit more details?” Dad asks him.
“He had a newborn girl and she came to live with us. Mom was more interested in taking care of her than she was of spending time with me. Mom tried to get me to spend time with the both of them, but Dad told me that she only did it to make herself feel better.” River mumbles.
