Jeremy just looked at him for a moment, his Beta instincts were still up and he just shook his head ‘I’ll wait the outcome boss.’
It completely took him for six, when his Mate came out of the Alpha’s office, tears streaming from her beautiful golden brown eyes, and running down her lovely face. Rip whined at his Mates distress and Holden moved towards her on pure instinct, as mad as he was, he was concerned by her state, felt the urge to comfort her, wanted to pull her into his arms and tell her it would be alright. He just about had her, when she moved so quick he couldn’t believe it, ducked under his outstretched hands and turned away from him, then ran away from him, literally ran.
He tracked her outside, no one stopped him, not the Alpha unit, not her retrieval team, not the Luna or the Gamma’s mate even, and he knew, he was currently on bad terms with that woman. He stopped on the front step, he could see she was headed for her house. Watched her go inside and slam the door shut, his alpha hearing even picked up her locking the door.
Rip was very unhappy ‘our mate is distressed.’
‘I can see that.’ Holden acknowledged
‘Don’t you dare, hurt our mate.’ Rip snarled at him all of a sudden, then stalked off to the back of his mind. Holden frowned he hadn’t wanted to hurt her, it was weird though, how he’d gone from really furiously mad at her, and wanting to lock her up, til he got his answers, to in just one second of seeing her so upset, tears spilling down her face. Yo wanting to wrap her tiny body in his big arms and comfort her, his anger was gone right this minute.
He had not liked seeing those tears, how upset she was, it didn’t sit well with him at all. Rip disliked it even more, he didn’t really understand his sudden change of mind, or mood towards her, his feelings were confusing him, to say the least. He stood there looking at her house for a long time, trying to decide what to do about it, about her to be honest ‘I want my mate’ Rip snarled at him.
‘I’m not going to reject her Rip, calm down.’ he muttered to his wolf and he wasn’t, he did want her for himself. The Mate Bond he’d read about today, was already drawing him to her, he had known it last night. He was going to claim that tiny she-wolf for himself. Just didn’t realise at the time, that his bond to her, could be so strong. That he would want no other, his father and brother’s bonds had never been like that.
He’d heard Deny talk about it and chide him “You just wait and see, when you find your mate.” Holden did know deep down, wolfs did like to mate for life, he’d just never seen it, in any of the higher Ranked members of the pack growing up, they marked mated and rejected at will, for the next thing that they liked that came along. He’d just presumed, it didn’t apply to Alpha’s. Until he’d read the book today.
He hadn’t known who she was at the time, and had been more than happy to know his mate, was sexy as hell, curves in all the places he liked, and a strong warrior, she was perfect for him, because their pup would be good and strong.
Now that he also knew, she was the retrieval specialist girl, it was a bit more difficult. He had insulted her on more than one occasion, called her a mutt, and it was clear she was pissed off about it. Likely Ky’ra was too, that was why they got this mornings response. Just now in the Alpha’s office, she had reminded him about calling her a mutt, he being her mate, was not out weighing her anger over the insult, he could foresee more difficulties ahead.
She challenged him right away, about disrespect the minute he’d brought it up, ‘if you can dish it out, you should be able to take it.’ a smile touched his lips. His men that day had called her a feisty one. They had not been wrong.
Holden headed back inside “Jeremy what actually happened out there today?” he knew his Beta was tired, could actually see it, but he wasn’t going anywhere, Holden could see that too.
“I don’t really know boss, she wandered about, I think an abandoned pack territory, didn’t feel like rogue territory to me…then that Alpha wolf appeared, Cal was instantly up and nudging her to leave, it growled at as both, Cal nipped her to get her moving, she went. It chased, though I think only to get us off the territory. When it stopped chasing she stopped running…the alpha shifted and all I could see was Ky’ra really watching him, like she was trying to see who he was maybe, then all of a sudden she was taunting him and challenging him. I think brought him back here on purpose.”
“Really wanted a piece of him” nick mused “Why is the question.”
He sent Jeremy off to get rest, he actually went this time no argument, just wanted to report to Holden, he guessed. A good Beta he was.
But he still had no answers about what and why his Mate had wanted a piece of that Alpha wolf.
He found himself, under the watchful eye of Luna Lindy, he was going to have to apologise to her, at some point. He didn’t like it, but knew he was going to have to do it. Actually was a little surprised, she hadn’t had him removed from her pack already. Goddess that was a hard one, to get his head around. Her pack, as much as it was the alpha’s.
Luna Lindy POV
She had her eyes on him, Alpha Holdener it seemed did head for the pack library. Had spend the afternoon in there reading books, from her own Luna’s section. Apparently he could take advise, maybe he did understand, that his position as Ella’s Mate was actually under threat, perhaps the man didn’t want to loose, what the goddess had gifted him. She would wait and see.
She had her eyes on him currently, he’d pretty much dragged Ella into the Alpha’s office. Probably to be expected, Corey looked like he was going to do it himself, but Alpha Holdener had beaten him to it was all.
That was only because, the man had stepped forward to protect her naked body, from being seen by the other males all around her.
The alpha unit had stepped back, the minute he had stepped forward, they knew not to get between an Alpha and his un-mated Mate. That was just asking for fight, especially if she was naked. Even Corey still growled at his unit, if they saw her naked, and they had been mate for 15 years now. He still was a possessive creature, nothing got between him and his Luna. A smile touched her lips, at the thought of is possessiveness, she did love it a little.
Lindy had watched him react in the Library up stiars, to what she could only believe was his Beta calling for help, about Ella and that Alpha wolf. The man’s head had snapped up so fast, she’d heard his neck c***k and he was on his feet in an instant. The book had dropped from his hand to the floor.
He hadn’t even seen her watching him from a comfortable chair in the corner of the library, he appeared to be reading intently from the books he’d taken off of her shelves. He read quite quickly, but she doubted he was skimming, he was simply used to reading detailed documents, and knew how to do quickly and efficiently.
He’d moved so quick, it had surprised her, she hadn’t known what was going on at the time, only watched him bolt for the door using all his wolfs speed. Practically dropped himself from the first floor, the minute there was room to do so, to the ground below, thank the goddess he hadn’t landed on anyone down their. Then he’d raced off through the pack-house, she had trailed him and seen Corey and his Alpha unit heading out the front door pulling shirts off, something was a foot that was for sure.
The only thing that could make an un-mated Alpha wolf, not on his own turf, move that quickly, was a threat to his Mate. It did now appear to Lindy that Alpha Holdener, didn’t want any harm to come to her. Was off to rescue her at this very minute.
Dragging her into the Alpha’s office was not at all surprising to Lindy, Core had already informed her of what had happened. Asked her to get Ella something to wear, she and Gab by had done just that, they knew when s**t was hitting the fan and how to act accordingly.
She had watched and waited outside the Alpha’s office, whatever was going on in there was actually Alpha business she imagined, for his whole unit was still outside the office, and so was Alpha Holdener’s Beta Jeremy.
Holdener came out of the office first, he looked more than pissed off. A smirk had touched her face, Ella wouldn’t just roll over and submit to him, and as his Mate, she didn’t have too. Ella would know this. Lindy doubted that Alpha Holdener and his backwards up bringing, knew this vital bit of information. He needed to learn he had to respect his Luna, or he wouldn’t get his Luna.
She watched as he prowled back and forth, and around in the foyer of her pack-house, he was the only one on the move. The Alpha’s unit were all leaning on the walls, as were her retrieval team. Even Beta Jeremy was sitting with his backside on the back of the couch, over by the front common room.
Thomas, had linked her about Alpha Holdener man handling Ella, he hadn’t like it, she was a part of his specialist unit and had not taken kindly, to her being man handled, when he himself could have taken her calmly to the Alpha’s office. She’d had to inform him that Alpha Holdener was her Mate. The man had been completely shocked, it hadn’t gotten around yet.
But Lindy knew it would be spreading right now, the way his wolf had gone off to protect and defend her at the border, would be understood by all watching, his wolfs display was enough for all to pick up on its intent and the reason behind it, would be crystal clear.
The office door opened, Lindy knew Ella would be coming out of that office in tears, if she was correct in presuming who she had tried to take on, there was no way Ella, was going to come out of Corey’s office in any other state then upset. Her eyes were directly on Alpha Holdener, watching his reaction to his mate.
She watched as his anger disappeared in a split second, at the sight of her tears and distress. Good. Watched him walk over to her, long quick strides, his facial expression filed with concern for his mate. His instincts as her mate taking hold and the need to comfort her pushing forward past his anger. Good. Lindy watched as Ella dodged him and his grasp, she was very quick, and being so small against him as well, he also wasn’t expecting her to run away from him it seemed. Lindy smiled to herself.
He had looked a little more than confused, at her running away from him, he’d followed her out of the building and just stood watching her. Appeared to be very confused himself, stood there a good long while.
Lindy watched him intently, wondered if he actually understood how a bond worked at all, if not he must be very confused indeed by his own reactions to her. She walked over to Corey’s office and stepped inside “What happened?”
“Exactly what we always worried about love.” he answered as she walked over and sat in his lap, leaned into him and sighed softly.
“What now?’
“Nothing…but I think and you’re not going to like this…she has to go with him or it’ll only happen again, she might actively go and hunt him, now that she knows he’s out there.”
“So the alliance!”
“Needs to be made. I’ll need you and gabby on board my love. I know you don’t like it, but she’ll be safer away from here…for her own good, even if she doesn’t know it.”
