“You look so skinny,” Khaos corrected her.
“I can’t stop myself from throwing up,” Zuri admitted it. “I tried, but I can’t. I feel guilty if ate too much and no matter how little I ate, I always felt I ate too much. I can’t gain weight. I don’t want to gain weight.”
Her mother always said she couldn’t be fat. Men disliked a fat woman. Even now, she kept hearing her mother’s voice and occasionally saw her mother, Karina, stared at her with that judgmental look whenever she was eating.
“I need to control my weight, but…” She gulped down with difficulty. “The more I tried to get control over my body, the more I feel at lost. Everything is a mess. I am a mess.”
Zuri could tell Khaos a thousand things that she was lack of, but she had a hard time to mention a single thing that she liked about herself. She couldn’t even find one.
“You are smart, brilliant even.” Khaos helped her. “The wealth of the River Creek pack is thanks to you.”
Khaos brushed his thumb on her lower lip, caressed her cheek.
“You have defiant spark in your eyes. You are feisty and full of life.”
He traced his fingers on her long hair.
“I like your long, black hair, reminding me of the night.”
He traced her shoulders and he could feel her bones.
“Your shoulders look weak, but they carried a lot of responsibility, though not many people
know about that.”
He placed his palm over her heart.
“You are strong, despite the fact that many people wanted to take advantage of you.” He then added. “Including me.”
Zuri lifted her head, she wanted to turn around and protest, but Khaos’s grip on her waist was
firm.
“You are strong and you will be strong enough to see the end of it.”
The attraction between them was hard to explain. You could see how Khaos cared for her wellbeing, but it didn’t deter him from using her for his own benefit.
Albeit Khaos knew if they kept going on with the completion of beauty blood, it would put Zuri’s life in danger, he didn’t have any intention to stop it.
He was a little bit hesitated and had not yet decided which option he would take, but he was not going to stop. They were so close to their goal.
One of the three lycan legacies was already in their possession, the beauty blood was waiting for the completion, while the whereabouts of other items were already known.
“Put your dress and come with me,” Khaos said. He helped her to put on her dress and take her out of the room, where she had been holed up for days. He ordered Gayle to come with them too.
Gayle followed them to the river creek in the wood, close to the place, where Zuri killed those Red Beasts that was sent by the king.
“I want you to attack Gayle.”
It was rather cold and the ground was covered in snow, because last night there was avalanche. It worked on the magic users’ favor when they fought the royal warriors.
“What?” Gayle widened his eyes. “Alpha, you know that…” he wanted to remind the alpha that it was Zuri, who had beaten up the Red Beasts. If she could fight against seven of them, it would be an easy feat to shred him into pieces.
“In your human form.”
“Why?” Zuri knew she could fight Gayle in her beast form. The curses that were given to her had strange effect on her body, or rather her beast. Whenever she was in her beast form, she could feel her feral side was way stronger. She became very violent. “I can kill him in my beast form in less than a minute.”
Gayle grimaced when he heard that. It felt like an insult, since this skinny woman declared such bold statement confidently, but what upset him the most was the fact he believed that.
“Your beast side is strong, but your human side is not. There is no balance there.” Khaos caressed her cheek. “You found it hard to control your beast’s side because your human’s side is way weaker.”
Khaos was not sure what he wanted to achieve with this training, but at the very least, it could keep Zuri occupied and probably, she could forget about her unhealthy habit. Tired him out and she would eat more.
“I can’t half shift too?” Zuri raised her hand and elongated her claws.
“No.” Khaos shook his head.
“How can I kill him if I can’t use my claws? It’s not fair. His human’s side is obviously way stronger than me.”
“Wait, let me make this clear first. Should we kill each other?” Gayle raised both of his hands.
“This is only training, no one will die.” Khaos patted her head. “Don’t kill him, he is still useful.”
“Thanks, alpha, you are so kind,” Gayle said bitterly. “What is it? Do you want me to train her how to fight in human form?”
“Yes.” Khaos then looked at Zuri. “And don’t hold back.”

Dacre was furious when he heard about the news what happened in River Creek pack. Half of the warriors had been killed when they attacked the River Creek pack’s fortress.
“Black magic users?! How many are they?!” Dacre roared angrily. He glared at the poor messenger, while Leonard stood next to him.
The royal beta didn’t expect this at all.
“Around a hundred.”
“How could Khaos find a hundred black magic users?! Where did they come from?!” The situation didn’t go as Dacre predicted. The black magic user was a surprise element that he didn’t expect at all. Even Leonard didn’t see this coming.
The royal beta dismissed the messenger and approached the king, who was sitting on his throne. He also dismissed all the warriors from the throne room to have this discussion with him.
“Dacre, I don’t think this is the right time for you to provoke Khaos.” Leonard was against this idea in the first place. In his eyes Dacre was being reckless in order to cripple Khaos’s power by using Silas.
Currently, people were being restless because the winter was here, but their food supplies had been depleted and they still couldn’t figure out how to replenish it.
Dacre was well aware of this situation and the first thing that came to his mind was Rose. She was the one, who told him about Khaos’s ships and how he had purchased a large amount of meat from the other continent, his ships were already here and the rumor about how people in the River Creek pack had abundant food supplies had been spread as well.
It was only a matter of time before people protested. Their opinion would be shifted.
“Dacre, where are you going?” Leonard sounded frustrated when Dacre just left. “Dacre!”
