Chapter 63 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

“I know, right.”

They stayed like that until the sky had turned dark and the wind became too cold for Zuri to bear, only then they went back to the dining hall to get their dinner.

But, later that night when Zuri was sleeping, Khaos felt Elijah’s presence. He was inside the room and this didn’t make the lycan happy to say the least.

“I didn’t remember I give a permission for you to enter my room as you pleased,” Khaos said to the darkness. The only light that illuminated this room came from the pale moonlight through the window.

And if it was not for the lycan’s strong senses, no one would know the black magic user was inside the bedroom.

Khaos had Zuri in his arms, she snuggled against his chest, sleeping soundly. She didn’t have a hard time to sleep now and her nightmare had ceased down significantly.

“My apology, alpha,” Elijah said, but there was no remorse in his voice. Somehow, he sounded happy, because Khaos noticed him. Because it meant, Khaos was indeed the lycan. “I didn’t mean to bother you.”

“Is this how the cult shows their respect to me?”

Khaos was right not to trust them. No matter how close Khaos was with his beta and gamma, neither of them would dare to step into his bedroom without permission, but this magic user had the audacity to do so while declaring his loyalty to him.

“Please, punish me for my ignorance.”

Khaos could hear the soft thudding sound, indicating Elijah had fallen to his knees and now he was kneeling down.

Elijah was standing at the dark corner of the room. He was only a silhouette and even so, his shadow blended perfectly with the darkness.

“What do you want?” Khaos didn’t bother with punishment, since it would only give him satisfaction, since it was their weird way to get his attention.

“I want to inform you that Zuri’s condition is extremely well right now, I have checked on her and I think she can handle eight curses.”

“Are you going to kill her?” Khaos kept his voice level, but a trace of anger could be heard. Eight curses in one go was pushing her limit.

“I know her condition well, alpha. She will be fine.”

If what Elijah meant with ‘fine’ was alive, Zuri would be still breathing, but aside from that, the cult didn’t care less about her.

There was a long pause. “No.” Khaos shifted and got up from the bed, he walked toward Elijah’s direction. “That’s too dangerous.”

“Alpha, I was the one, who had put all the curses on her body and look out for any sign of backlash, I know her body better than anyone else.”

Somehow, his statement irked Khaos.

“No.” Khaos was standing in front of Elijah and the magic user could feel the anger that exuded from the alpha. “If you entered my room without my permission, I will assume that’s an attack…”

“I will never…”

“An attempt of murder for the alpha will be proceeded accordingly.” Khaos didn’t even give him a chance to defend himself. “Understood?”

Elijah swallowed his words and lowered his head. “Understood, alpha.” But, he had not yet given up. “About the curses…”

“Leave now, Elijah, or I am going to get rid of you in this instant.”

Elijah didn’t say anything else and suddenly his presence disappeared, he vanished into thin

air and this made Khaos narrowed his eyes. This was something he had never experienced

before.

The next day, the royal warriors were ready to attack this pack. Now they had reunited, their

number was triple and there was a high chance, they would be able to take down the fortress. It was only a matter of time before Silas took back the pack.

However, something happened that left them dumbstruck.

Rose arrived at night before the attack to the River Creek pack, Nycta waited for her and she hugged her sister. She apologized for the way she behaved the other day.

“I think this pregnancy make me a little bit sensitive,” Nycta said, as she walked beside her sister. Rose was as graceful as ever, even though she had just gone through a long journey.

“You are the queen, you shouldn’t have asked for forgiveness from me. I can understand.” Rose smiled with delight to her sister, as if everything had been forgotten and forgiven.

“You will like alpha Logan, I have met with him for a few times and as far as I could tell, he was a great person.”

Rose kept her smile and listened to her sister praising alpha Logan here and there, as if it could make her felt better to have a former beta as her mate.

And once they arrived at Rose’s bedroom, this was the same bedroom that she used when she was here the last time, Nycta wished her a good night sleep.

“I will see you in the morning,” Nycta said, kissing her sister’s cheek and then walked away.

Meanwhile, Rose’s smile faded away the moment Nycta was out of her sight. Her eyes turned slightly darker. She hated with passion every time Nycta opened her mouth to talk about Logan, she felt as if she was being mocked.

However, less than five minutes later, someone knocked on her door and a warrior stood there, he informed her that the king wanted to see her.

“The king?” Rose raised her brows, a small tugged on the corner of her lips. “May I know why?”

Obviously, Nycta didn’t know about this, or else, Nycta would be the one, who took her to meet with the king.

“I don’t know the detail, but princess Rose is expected in the king’s study room.”

“I will be there.”

Rose closed the door and checked herself on the mirror first, making sure she looked presentable before she walked out of the room and followed the warrior.

She could guess why the king needed her, especially only a day before the attack to the River Creek pack.

Zuri woke up early this morning and found Khaos was not by her side. It was not something unusual, he must have gone somewhere.

However, she would take extra time to cuddle his pillow and breathe deeply in his scent, only then she woke up and cleaned herself before she was ready for the day.

Today was a big day, where her plan was set in motion and she was nervous to see how it would play out. She hoped, everything would go accordingly, but before she could leave the room, instead of Gayle, she saw it was her brother, who was standing in front of her door.

“Rhett?” Zuri was surprised to see him. It had been a while, since she saw him, because she was kind of avoiding him.
