Another hour of torture passed and my father, Cole and even Ryker had visited in that rimet, giving my mother updates and asking about Maddie but we had no answers, just a whole lot of nothing, torturous nothing.
I listened to parts of their conversations, the building fire was contained and the fire brigade was cleaning up.
43 people were dead, a dragon, two werewolves and 4 witches from a visiting coven and their leader was out for blood.
Our father was trying to contain the situation but the coven leader was on the verge of declaring war, not with us, but with Troy and any werewolf who stood behind his and Scott’s actions.
In fareness, we didn’t know if Troy had a hand in this situation or if Scott had just acted on his own but I doubted it, the boy was just a took for his father and even if he had acted alone, I still wanted Troy dead so I was all for putting the blame on him, especially since my father had now backed us and sent out the cities main troops to join the search for him.
The doors of the theatre opened and Jax and I sprang up and rushed over to the healer who came out looking exhausted and nervous.
“Where is she?!” Jax looked around the doctor to find an empty room
“She was covered in blood so the nurse is cleaning her up before moving her to the room” Doctor Bradley told us “If you’ll follow me or the room, I’ll fill you in on the way”
“It better be a female nurse” Jax commented
“Yes Alpha” Bradley assured us
“How is she?”
“She’s alive and stable but in critical condition” He told us
“What the f*ck does that mean?” I snapped as we turned down another hallway, where the dam hell was he taking us?!
“She has alot of internal bleeding and swelling of the brain but she is breathing on her own”
“When will she wake up?” Jaxson asked and I could see relief in his expression
“I’m afraid I don’t know” He answered and I saw the relief vanish from my brother’s face “I have her in an induced coma for the evening to monitor the swelling in her brain but hopefully anytime after tomorrow she will wake, the Luna’s healing ability was already working during surgery, she’s heals like an alpha, which is fascinating but also very lucky, here we are”
We stopped outside a room with guards and I looked at my mother who’d followed us down the hall, she must have organised them.
Jax wasted no time in pushing the doors open but growled angrily when we found an empty room
“WHY ISN’T SHE HERE YET?!”
“The nurse shouldn’t be much longer, Alpha” Bradley told him “Perhaps another five minutes, I will go wash up and then come back and give you a proper talk about her condition and injuries, all I ask is that you don’t touch her too much, she has a few breaks that are still healing and we can’t risk messing up the healing process”
“Fine” I agreed “Thank you for all you’ve done”
“I will be back soon, excuse me your majesty” He added and bowed to my mother
After pacing around again for a few minutes Maddie was finally brought in on a white bed and Jax who’d been leaning against the wall not talking had shot over to her and grabbed her hand.
I was beside her in a seconds and gently took her other hand ‘Maddie’ I pressed my face into her neck and took a deep breath but when her scent hit me I growled and stood up.
“It’s the blood transfusion” Jax said before I could ask why her scent had changed and I looked over to see the blood bag
Jaxson sat down and pressed his face into Maddie’s arm and fell silent once more.
JAXSON’S POV
We had been in the hospital for two days, Madelyn had healed fully but for some reason she hadn’t woken up and every second that ticked by without the sound of her voice was causing my actual physical pain.
Koda’s mood swings were also getting worse so I convinced him to sleep in shifts to try and get him to rest, I was already a wreck, I couldn’t handle his emotions on top of mine, it wasn’t as if I didn’t love or care about my brother or his pain, it was just that I was already on the verge of losing it and needed to try and keep it together.
I looked over at my brother who was sleeping next to our girl, he was snoring which was odd because he never snored, he must have been exhausted and I was hoping the sound would annoy Madelyn enough to wake her up but nothing had changed.
I pressed my face into her throat and took a deep breath of her scent, thanking the goddess that her scent had returned to normal after the blood transfusions had stopped
“I miss you” I whispered to my girl, therewas horrible knot in my chest that had been there since Koda had called my name at that burning building and it wasn’t going away, the only cure would be the sound of my girl’s voice “Wake up or I swear I will make you pay for torturing me”
As if by some miricle she’d heard my command and she moaned, I sat up and shoved Koda “GET UP!”
Koda jumped in fright and fell backwards off the bed, hitting the ground with a loud thud but seeing as it took me a full day for my broken rib to heal after his punch, I didn’t care that I’d startled him awake
“WHAT THE F*CK JAX!”
“She’s waking up!” I told him as Madelyn’s hand started to twitch “BRADLEY GET HERE NOW!”
“Coming your majesty” He said quickly and cut the link
“Baby?” Koda brushed her hair back but nothing happened
“The healers on his way” I told my brother before kissing Madelyn’s hand ‘Sweetheart, can you hear me?”
“I thought you said she was waking up” Koda yelled at me when she didn’t respond
“She is’ I told him angrily but I didn’t know if I was just trying to convince myself, maybe I’d imagined things because I was so desperate for her to open her eyes but then she moaned again and all of the lights in the room began to flicker.
“What the f*ck?” Koda looked around and then all of the monitors that had been switched off suddenly came on and began buzzing.
“Is she doing this?” I reached over and touched Madelyn’s face and everything went silence once more and her eyes began to flutter
“MADDIE!” Koda seemed to forget all about the weird activity and was at her side in a second holding her other hand ‘Baby, wake up”
She moaned and began to move around just as the doctor pushed open the door
“Good, Bradley” I said in relife “Do something, is is waking up or in pain?”
We both reluctantly stood back while Bradley and another nurse checked her over but her eyes opened and she began to look around in confusion and fear
‘Get back’ Koda demanded and we rejoined our mate
“Madelyn sweetheart can you hear me?”
“What’s going on?’ She asked and began to cough
“Get her that water” I pointed to a bottle next to Koda, it had been mine but I hadn’t touched it, in fact neither Koda or myself had eaten or drinken anything in days
“Go slowly Alpha” Bradley cautioned “Small sips only, Laura go get a straw”
“Yes sir” She said and the blonde nurse rushed from the room as I sat the bed up so Madelyn would be in a seated position.
“Here baby, take a sip” Koda ordered gently and put the water to her gorgeous tempting lips.
To say I was extactic was an understatement, I’d never felt joy like this in my entire life, I sat down beside her and brushed her hair back while she took a sip of water
