Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 9 – His Plump Mate (Rebel & Austin) Novel

I look at him and now I’m really excited. “I’ve never been in a car before! I can’t wait!” I am practically ready to jump out of my seat. Until, I realize that Austin and Renz once again look like they are ready to kill somebody. I quickly add, “Guys, remember, I wasn’t allowed out. When I was, I went into the woods. It’s not like you can drive a car in the forest.”

Austin growls, “It doesn’t mean it was okay Rebel. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there. I would never have allowed you to be treated that way.”

I cup my hands on his cheeks, “You’re here now. That’s all that matters.” I say as I press my forehead to his. ” Now you know my past, and I’m sure there are going to be more things you figure out about me that is not fun to hear or see. Know that I feel better now that you know and I want to move forward. Is that okay?”

Austin inhales my scent again to calm down, “Anything for you darling and you are damn right, we are moving forward.” He says as he tightens his grip around my waist again.

Just then the door opens and a petite blond with blue eyes that are filled with excitement rushes in and announces, “Okay, I am here for “Operation – Hook My Luna Up!”

Rebel POV

Renz puts his arm around the waist of the petite blond, “Luna, this is my mate and your beta female, Lacy. Lacy, this is our future Luna and Austin’s mate, Rebel.”

Lacy wastes no time in rushing over to me and hugging me. The unexpectedness and shock was quick that all I could do was laugh. “We are going to be best friends! Finally, Austin found you! Oh, congratulations Alpha.” She says to him quickly and then looks at me like she is looking at a new favorite toy. I hear Austin mumble something about this being his office and her taking his mate.

“It’s very nice to meet you, Lacy. Please call me Rebel.” I say with a genuine happy smile. This place seems to bring out the smiles in me.

“Eeek! We are going to have so much fun spending your mate’s money today. Speaking of which, Austin, we need your card!” She says holding out her hand. Austin rolls his eyes and pulls out his wallet and produces a black card. He hands it to Lacy and says, “Anything she wants, she gets. You also know that there will be special occasions where she needs fancy dresses, so make sure you get some of those too. She needs everything. She literally came here with the clothes on her back and nothing else.”

“Dear Alpha, have you met me?” Lacy says, raising one eyebrow. I love this beta female already. She doesn’t care that he is the meanest Alpha in the region. She is talking to him with the same sass energy that Roxie and I have. “I will make sure she has everything she needs and then some, and I will do it while spending your money!”

I couldn’t help it, I started laughing. The look on Austin’s face was the kind of annoying that Roxie and I have with each other and it’s funny to watch someone else have that expression. Austin looks at me and smiles. His eyes soften and presses a kiss to my forehead. “You have a beautiful laugh darling. I want to keep you smiling and laughing from this day forward.” He says to me and I melt at his words.

“Yeah, yeah…she’s really laughing because I’m the funny one Austin. Now you are cutting into our shopping time.” She grabs me by the hand and gives Renz a quick kiss goodbye and pulls me out of the door, to the outside, and into the car. There are two guards in the front seats and the car behind us has two more guards. I thought Austin wanted three, but four is what got assigned.

After we drive the guards start driving, Lacy raises the partition and then turns to look at me. “Okay, I want to know everything about you!” She says with a huge giddy smile.

I’ve never done girl talk before. I’m at a loss for on how to start this conversation. “What do you want to know?” I say, hoping she can guide me through some of this, seeing how I’m a first timer with these things.

“Okay, let’s start off with this. Renz already gave me some of your background. I don’t want to talk about the heavy. I want to talk about you, who you are, what you like and as we shop today, I want you to discover the person no one let you become at that rotten place. Sound good girlie?” She says with a genuine smile. I don’t think I ever received one of those before coming to Blackstone.

“Okay. Um, I like to play guitar and sing. I am self-taught with most everything in my life. I like cooking and smoking meats. My favorite colors are red and yellow, depending on my mood. Is that a good start?” I ask, uncertain if this is what she is trying to get out of me.

“Wonderful start! So you sing! Who is your favorite artist? What kind of songs do you like to sing about?” She asks me. It’s like pulling a thread on a sweater and seeing it unravel. That’s what she’s doing with all of these questions.

“I sing mainly girl power country songs. My favorite artist right now is actually a girl group called Hearts and Glock. They are a lot of fun to listen to and their songs make me laugh.” I say.

The rest of the car ride is much of the same. Asking questions and answering questions. She has asked me my birthday, favorite food, favorite book, flower, clothing style, and more. When we finally arrive to the mall as she explained, she said we would have lunch here and shop to our hearts content. I have a feeling I’m going to be very much outside of my comfort zone. ‘Well, you won’t grow unless you push yourself. Remember when we trained with our father? He always said to do the uncomfortable things if you want to push passed your fears. We could apply that to this Rebel.’ Roxie said and she is right. That advice couldn’t just be for training, right?

We spend nearly all day at this mall. I was scared to shop at first, but then Lacy said to have fun with it, so I started trying on hats and sunglasses. I tried on silly shirts and other items. When it was really funny, Lacy would take pictures with her phone and send it to Austin and Renz, which was a little embarrassing, but hey, Austin wanted me to smile and laugh, right?

After buying mountains of clothes, shoes and accessories, Lacy took me to a place called Victoria’s Secret. I didn’t know there was a place especially for bras and panties. I had no idea they could look that pretty too. Lacy asks my size, and I said extra large. She cocked her head to the side and asked me if I was ever fitted for a bra before. My cheeks redden and that was all the response needed for Lacy to get a sales person to measure my size. I found out I’m a 38D, which made Lacy whistle and then the most evil grin spread across her face. With a gleam in her eyes she looked at me and said, “It’s time Alpha Austin know just how hot his Luna really is.”

“Lacy, I don’t understand. Why is everyone calling me hot? I know I’m chubby, but hot is not a word I would use to describe me.” I say.

Lacy looks at me with her mouth open. “My goddess Rebel. Do you not see what a total babe you are? You are not fat or chubby. You are thick and delectable. You have curves so many she-wolves would kill for and I am not even kidding!”

“I just don’t see it Lacy.” I say looking down.

“You don’t yet but you will. Trust me, Austin can’t keep his hands off of you for a reason Rebel. Do you see how he looks at you? He can’t tear his eyes away from you!”

“If you say so. What are we getting from here?” I change the subject. An hour and a half and several Victoria Secret bags later, we head to a shop with fancy dresses. More fancy than anything I’ve ever worn in my life.

“Rebel, since red and yellow are your favorites, we should get one of each. We also will need a little black dress and I think a dark green or emerald color dress to match your eyes. Oh! and a white or silver dress. So four to five dresses and we will be done with shopping for today.” She says.

“Thank the goddess. For as much as I train to fight, nothing could have prepared me from the exhaustion of shopping with you Lacy.” I say laughing as she narrows her eyes at me playfully. “Better me than with Jessup’s mate, he’s our gamma. His mate, Jane, she is worse than me!” She says laughing.

We select the dresses and as we are leaving, I see a music store with several guitars. I stop to look at them in the window. Lacy however, she saw my longing to play and dragged me in the shop.

I stop in front of a Gibson Hummingbird. It’s made of mahogany and rosewood. It’s a wine red color and absolutely beautiful. I picked it up off the stand it was sitting on, when the sales person came walking up. Excuse me, no touching unless you plan on buying.” He was a little too snarky for my liking.

“I would never dream of picking up a Gibson Hummingbird unless it was to purchase one. However, I want to hear if it’s as sweet a sound as everyone always said.” With that, I started strumming and singing Lainey Wilson’s, ‘Things a Man Oughta Know’, by the time I was done, I had a crowd standing around me and clapping. Lacy at some point started recording me playing. Then I looked the sales person straight in the eyes, “Wrap this one up.” He looked me up and down, “Do you even know how much this guitar costs?”

“Yes. This is a four thousand dollar guitar. What’s your point? I asked you to wrap it up. Do you not want the sale?” I said as I gave him a deadpan look.

I smell him before I see him. Austin is here? I look at Lacy and she smiles a very knowing smile. I see Austin approaching and then the snarky sales person’s eyes light up, “Mr. Willis, to what do we owe the pleasure? Are you looking to get another guitar today?”

Another guitar? Austin didn’t tell me he could play too. Come to think of it, I don’t know much about my mate. I’ve been too busy getting questioned by him, that I haven’t thought much about asking him questions. I mean I know he’s the big, bad Alpha, but I don’t know much else.

“No. I’m here because I saw how you were treating my fianc?, Jim. Do you have any doubts that she is a talented musician?” Austin asks with an almost menacing tone.

“N, N, no sir, of course not. I was just getting ready to wrap it up for her.” Snarky Jim stammers.

I decided to ride up in my petty-mobile at that moment. I wrapped my arm around Austin’s arm and said, ” Austin, honey, I honestly don’t think he wanted to sell me this beautiful guitar. Perhaps, we should go somewhere else, where the sales people value all their customers, despite the way we look.” I smile sweetly at him.

“I apologize for the misunderstanding Ms. Um” he got stuck on the name, because he didn’t ask my name or treat me with any respect. Roxie is enjoying this guy sweat and I have to be honest, so am I.

“Jim, my name is Rebel and you just lost a sale.” I look at Austin and smiled softly at him, “Let’s go home.”
