“Wow” I mouthed as Evet snagged two champagne flutes from a passion server.
“Granny doesn’t do anything by halves” She told me as she passed me my drink “Drink up, it’ll help with the nerves”
I did as instructed and took a big swig of the drink as I continued to look around
“What’s this?” I pointed to a large table of gifts
“Presents for you” The Queen mother answered my question as she approached with another women.

“For me?” I said in disbelief “They didn’t have to get me gifts, that’s so kind, I’ll have to thank everyone”
I didn’t know what to say, only my mates had ever gifted me something, this was all to much
“Isn’t she sweet” The women smiled at me
“Madelyn may I introduce to you, Queen Omaya” Grandmother said “She is one of Nine tail fox Queensz she’s visiting after that horrible innocent with the fire”
“Oh, it lovely to meet you”
“And you, though I wish it had been under better circumstances”
“Did you lose someone in the fire?”
“Thankfully, no, but war is an ugly business” Omaya responded as she took a wine from one of the servers “And we can’t stay out of it forever, it will reach my people eventually so I thought I’d come and speak with your King to be proactive, though, I have no doubt there will be more losses on all sides before this is over”
“I hope not” I said sadly
“So young” Omaya said as she touched my cheek and I quickly stepped back feeling uncomfortable and she even looked startled.
“How unusual” She looked down at her hand “I sense great power in you child, a power I haven’t felt in generations”
“Omaya dear, have you met Beta Chastity?” My grandmother asked and pointed to a women in a pretty Lilac dress, though I think she was just trying to distract her from me “She has studied your kind for 30 years and I’m sure she’d love to speak with you”
“Excuse us” Evet took my arm and pulled me away.
“Thanks” I whispered as we went over to another group of women.
For the two hours, I was taken from group to group to speak with the women and introduce myself, though I continued to notice, Omaya watching me from time to time before someone pulled my attention and forced me to focus.
I was actually enjoying myself, drinking and eating as I spoke with the amazing women in attendanc, the only downside was Blake and two women who were following her around.
I had been avoiding her, moving on to a different group of women whenever I saw her coming, she’d been glaring at me and whispering to her friends and some of the other women as I walked passed but my luck was about to run out.
Three hours into the party, I was talking with a women about her tea shop when Blake and my grandmother came over arm in arm
“Hello your majesty” Rebecca said sweetly and bowed
“Hello dear” The Queen smiled before turning to me “I am just letting you know I’m leaving, some of us are not as young as used to be and I need some rest”
“Oh, well, I can take you home” I offered, mostly as an excuse to leave the party but I also really wanted time alone with her to talk about my mother
“Aren’t you so sweet” Blake said in a false sweet tone “Ever the maid, always helping others”
“Maid?” Rebecca asked
“Oh, didn’t you know?” Blake smiled at me and Ava encouraged me to claw her eyes out “Our Luna here, was raised as a maid, or rather, a slave, quite the leap up for her”
“A slave?” Rebecca put her hand over her mouth “You poor child, how fortunate for you to meet the twins”
I took great satisfaction at Blakes disgruntled look. Clearly she’d been trying to shame me but it had backfired when Rebecca seemed more concerned for me then disgusted.
“Yes, I’m very lucky to have met them, they’re amazing”
“They’d better be” The Queen mother declared “They have my genes afterall, now, I’m off, Blake dear, take good care of Maddie while I’m gone”
“Of course your majesty” Blake bowed “As the ranking Head Betas child, it’s my duty to look after my Luna”
“I would expect nothing less” The Queen touched her cheek “Madelyn dear, come visit me soon so we can talk about the coronation”
“Yes grandmother” I bowed and watched her leave
“Calling her grandmother already” Blake commented once she was gone “How propositus, you’re not even married yet”
“Excuse me please Rebecca” I said firmly “I need the bathroom”
I walked away angrily and went inside the nearest rest room and lent against the sink with my head down.
I hated Blake, what did Koda ever see on someone so awful?!
After hiding for a few minutes, I returned to the party where I ran into one of the girls who’d been with Blake.
“Hello Luna” She bowed and smiled “I’m Annabelle and this is Sophie, it’s lovely to meet you”
“And you”
“Are you settling in okay Luna?” Sophie asked, she seemed nice and genuine but Annabelle looked at me like I was trash beneath her feet
“Yes”
“Must be a welcome change” Annabelle commented “Being in all this splendor when you’re used to sleeping with dogs in the dirt”
“Excuse me?” I asked “If you’re referring to my old pack, it’s true it wasn’t as grand as all of this but it was nice enough”
“No dear” She smirked “I wasn’t referring to the architecture, I meant sleeping with literal dogs in the dirt, I ran into.. what’s her name again, oh, right, Skyler, that was of course before she was locked up, anyway, she mentioned that you used to get around with all of the men in the pack and even some of the visiting men, she said you enjoyed being passed around”
“Well what ever she said was a lie!”
“Oh, how awful” Sophie gasped “To lie about something like that”
“Was it a lie, perhaps that’s why she has two mates” I turned to see Blake and another girl walking over to us “Maybe she needs more then one man to satisfy her, I hear a wh*res lust is never satisfied”
“Well you would know” I snapped “I don’t care what Sky told you, I have never been with anyone besides Jax and Cody!”
“We’ll have to take you word for it I guess”
“Would you excuse me Luna” Sophie said nervously “I see a friend of mine, have a good afternoon”
