The former Luna Mia is seated at the Alpha table, but she is smart enough not to sit in Luna Leona’s seat again. “Get a move on, Snail. I want a coffee with my lunch and make sure you put enough sugar in, this time.” She growls at an Omega.
“Mia, first of all, you are no longer this Pack’s Luna and that means that you will not be seated at the Alpha table. Second, you are to get your drinks yourself and not order our Omegas around.” Luna Leona says, as she is pouring herself a cup of coffee.
Before Mia can respond, Alpha Lincoln walks in to the dining room and one look from him has her moving to another table.
Moments after we are all seated, Beta Rhys and Gamma Hugo walk in with their Pups and Rory. Rory, River and Rufus sit down in the only remaining seats at the Alpha table. Stella and Sarah sit down on the laps of their Mates and start chatting about their training session from that morning.
“Why do I have to train? I know how to defend myself and that is more than enough. What do they expect? For me to go out there and find me some Rogues to kill.” Stella complains.
“Oh, Fuck.” I hear Magnus mutter and like him I already know what is coming.
“You are absolutely right, Stella. A female should look after her Mate and their Pups. Running border patrol or fighting Rogues and other enemies that attack the Pack, that is no job for a female.” Makay says and I see a smile appear on Stella’s face.
“I am really praying to the Goddess to pair you with a female that can kick your ass, Son. A female can fight, just like a male. It is the mountain sized egos of males that stop females from growing into their full potential and if for some reason the female that kicks your ass isn’t your Mate, I am going to adopt her to annoy the hell out of you.” Dad says.
Makay lowers his head, because he already knows what is coming. “Makay, if I ever hear you talk to or about a female like that, I will be the one you should fear. As for you, Stella, I suggest that you keep training or you might not survive an attack.” Mom says.
“My Mate will keep me safe or he will appoint Elite Warriors to protect me.” Stella responds and Magnus and I are laughing our asses off.
“No one will be there to protect you. Because if anyone defies my order to protect someone that could protect herself, I will kill them and then I will kill you.” Alpha Lincoln growls.
“Makay, this is your final warning. If I hear you talk like that again or if someone tells me that you did, I will send you to Elder Morton and ask him to assign you to a team that consist of only females. Is that clear?” Alpha Lincoln asks.
“Yes, Alpha, Very clear.” Makay answers and he knows this isn’t an empty threat.
After lunch we continue to sort through the papers and when I want to return after dinner, Alpha Lincoln tells me that it can wait until morning.
Makay’s p.o.v.
I knew I shouldn’t have responded to Stella’s complaining, but I couldn’t help myself.
I am well aware of the fact that there are females that can fight better than most males and I am not opposed to fighting beside them. That doesn’t mean that I want my Mate to be like that, I want a Mate that will wait for me when I get home and who will look after our Pups.
I have two strikes against me though, my parents are probably praying to the Goddess to pair me with a strongheaded and stubborn Mate and I am part of a twin.
Myka doesn’t care what our Mate looks like, all he wants is a Mate that will love us and that is the only answer anyone gets when we are asked what our Mate should be like or look like.
“Rise and shine, Sunshine.” Myka calls out as he opens my bedroom door and I toss my pillow in his direction, missing him because he is already on his way to the living room. I get out of bed to close the door and I go through my morning routine to head down to the Archive after breakfast.
Blade growls in my head the moment we enter the Archive and as I sit down to go through the next stack of papers, Blade curls up in the back of my head. An hour into shifting through the papers I finally find a paper that matches one I found yesterday, but it still doesn’t make any sense to me.
“Okay, let’s see if we can combine some papers.” Dad says and he calls out the date on the paper he is holding, but none of us have a paper that goes with it. We keep repeating it until it is time for lunch and we managed to pair three different dates to at least two papers.
This is going to be a long and tedious task, after all Alpha Hank lead this Pack for almost twenty years and in that time a Pack can collect a lot of files.
We have lunch in the Alpha office, none of us in the mood to run into anyone of Alpha Hank’s leadership and I want to laugh when Myka suggests that Alpha Lincoln starts talking to Pack-members with Dad and Luna
Leona.
“Care to explain this plan of yours?” Alpha Lincoln asks.
“It will take ages to go through all that paperwork in the Archive. If you talk to each Pack-member separately, you might find some answers sooner than we can and Luna Leona will be there to calm down any situation that might head in the wrong direction.
I suggested Dad for the most simple reason there is, he can tell you when someone is lying to you.” Myka explains and for once I agree with him.
Alpha Lincoln assigns Mom, Gamma Layton and Gamma Laney to our team and after lunch we head back to the Archive. Alpha Lincoln will start his interviews with the Omegas and the first one he will call to his office is Brenna.
By the time Luna Leona comes in to get us for dinner, I have three files that contain at least two papers each and they are starting to make a little sense to me.
Stella tries to get me on her side again during dinner, but I am going to keep my mouth shut. Matheus, our future Gamma, once made the mistake of thinking that Alpha Lincoln was pulling his chains, I don’t remember what he was commenting on and Alpha Lincoln gave him the same final warning as he gave me.
Matheus made the mistake of continuing with his comments and the next morning an Elder showed up to take him to Renegade territory. He was gone for a week and after that he never crossed Alpha Lincoln again, none of us for that matter.
