“As if I’m going to give up an opportunity to wash you”
I smiled and shook my head but otherwise just let him help me into the shower and get ready for the day. My head was still throbbing by the time we walked into the kitchen but it was made worse by Koda pulling me behind his body to protect me from some kind of threat.
‘Who the hell are you, and why are you in our home?” Jaxson growled, and I looked around his shoulder “JULIA!”
“Oh, don’t worry” I touched his arm as I heard someone’s footsteps getting louder “This is Molly, my maid”
“Your what?” Koda asked as he sized the girl up “Since when do you have a maid?”
“Evet gifted her to me” I shrugged “I’m sorry, I forgot all about her coming to work for me. She was training with Evets maid but she was meant to come a few days ago, and it slipped my mind. A lot’s happened since I met her”
“Typical of Evet to insert herself” Jaxson seemed annoyed at his cousin as he pulled out his phone “What’s your full name, I’m checking your files and if I find something I don’t like, you will not be staying”
“Yes sir, it’s Molly Harrison” Molly looked upset, and I felt bad for her, she was so excited about becoming my maid
“Did you need me your majesty’s” Julia asked as she came into the kitchen,
“Did you let Molly in?” Koda asked as he took my hands and led me over to the table where Julia had left a few breakfast dishes.
“Yes sir, she said she was the Luna’s new maid”
“Sit down and rest” Koda ordered before turning back to Julia “And you didn’t think to inform us!?”
“I’m sorry sir” She looked down “I figured it was alright, because she’d gotten past the guards”
Koda frowned and looked towards the window “You’re right, she did” He said angrily “In the future, tell us of anyone in the house, regardless”
“Yes sir”
“In the meantime” Koda said ‘Molly, go help Julia turn down the room and bathroom, you can stay with her for the rest of the day”
“Yes your majesty” Molly and I exchanged a smile as they left
“Do you have anything I can take for this headache?’ I asked and placed my head in my hands.
“Sure baby” Koda left the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with some pills and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge “Jax would you get off your damn phone and eat, I’m going to go yell at the guards”
Koda left the kitchen as Jax sat down, his eyes still glued to his phone while I took the pills and sculled half the bottle of water. It wasn’t until I coughed and choked on the water that Jax looked up.
“Sh*t” He laughed and patted my back “Slow down sweetheart, don’t drown yourself, you’re a Lycan, not a mermaid”
“Hilarious” I groaned and rubbed my throat
Jax cupped my face and kissed my cheek “I’m sorry” He smiled and kissed my other cheek and then my throat “Better”
“Yes” I blushed and pulled away
“Good, now eat”
I laughed and shook my head “You and Koda are so bosy”
“You have no idea”
Once Koda returned, looking very cross, we had breakfast and went to the tower, I asked if we were training today, but Jax told me we would train later with my new trainer.
I was holding Jaxsons and Koda’s hands when we walked into the lobby to find their mother and another women talking but upon seeing us she smiled brightly.
The Queen always looked so sophisticated, she was wearing a very lovely blue dress, black heals and coat, with her hair pulled up in an elegant bun and adwned with jewels, and it made me self-conscious.
I looked down at my pale cream dress and flats and then looked over at my mates, who were both put together as well, I had to do better, I didn’t want to embarrass them more than I already did.
I pulled my hands away from my mates and nervously started to play with my fingers as the Queen approached us
“Whats wrong?” Koda took my hands in both of his, but I pulled them back
“Nothing, I’m fine” I plastered my face with a fake smile, but I don’t think he bought it because he opened his mouth, only to get cut off by his mother.
“Hello my dears” She said loudly
“Your majesty” Jax responded, but she walked straight past him and pulled me into a hug
I froze, and she quickly pulled back and held my arms “And how are you dear?” She asked and looked me over
“Better, thank you”
“You poor thing” She touched my face “On top of everything, someone tries to drug you, we’ll have Fenrir and Troy in prison soon and all of this will be over”
“Let’s hope so” Koda crossed his arms “We should go to the meeting”
“Actually” Kara linked her arm with hers “Change of plans, the meeting has been pushed until later and Maddie is coming with me. As for the two of you, you will go up and speak with your father. Apparently, one of my id*ot sons knocked out an Alpha last night and had his locked up and your father is p*ssed”
The twins looked at each other “He deserved it”
“Just like the other idiot at the club deserved it?” Kara snapped “How old are you? When are you going to grow up and control your emotions?!”
“How do you know it was me?” Jax crossed his arms
“Because I’ve known you, your entire life” She said, half annoyed, half amused “Now, come Maddie”
“Wait, where are you taking her?”
“Last I checked, I didn’t answer to you”
“Mom?” Koda whined
“You will address the Queen by her title!” One of her guards snapped but Kara sighed and held her hand up and the guard quickly stepped back
“I have a committee meeting today for the Goddess festival and parade and our new Luna here, is getting thrown into the deep end” She told us “She needs to start learning her duties, and I’m sure she could use a distraction after last night, now go upstairs”
Kara didn’t give any of us a chance to argue, she just pulled me off. I looked over my shoulder and saw my mates standing frozen but Kara tugged on my arm
“Pay attention Madelyn, I’m talking to you” Kara snapped.
“I’m sorry”
“This is Aria” She gestured to the other women who was following us to a parked car “She’s head of the committee. You will shadow her today. Luckily for you, most of the work has already been done, but you will still get an idea of how it all works, so next year, you should have a better understanding of how to organize everything”
“If I’m alive next year” I commented before I could stop myself.
