Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 15 – My Secret Lycan Life

“I know you tried to look for my protection detail, but Dad and Colter trained them, and I doubt you would be able to find them unless they want you to find them. Pauline is the only one that stays with me out in the open, and you already know why no one will ever suspect her to be a part of my protection detail. She helps me to find the best way to strike.”

“She keeps tabs on every individual that is a target. She informs me when they are away from their safe haven and makes sure my schedule fits my assignments. It will take me another day or two before I can wrap things up here, and then I will be able to go home for a few days. Will that give you enough time to make sure everyone is in the territory to hear my story?” I asked.

Alpha Dax took a look at his phone for a few moments. “Yeah, everyone will be in the territory by then. I will put a meeting in our schedule – a meeting concerning Alpha Bradley and your lunch appointment with him and your Mother.”

“I can guarantee you that everyone will be present. They will want to hear about what happened, and I promise you that I won’t say a word about it before then,” Alpha Dax responded, and I asked him if his Brothers might torture him to get answers before that day.

“I will tell them that you will be present and will answer any question they have. Mom will make sure they won’t try to get answers from me, and I will threaten to tell Mom if they try anyway,” he said with a wink.

Maleah’s p.o.v.

As we enjoy the coffee one of the servants brought up to my room, Dax stares out the window. I memorize his relaxed features to make him his own drawing. I haven’t started on Mack’s drawing because every time I want to start, I get distracted.

Fortune normally hates it when my mind drifts to a male, but when it comes to Mack, she seems to be cheering me on to let my mind wander. That is the reason I still haven’t started drawing Mack.

Alpha Dax drove me back to the boutique after lunch, and currently I am looking at my protection detail, not sure how to tell them that my secret is out.

“How was lunch?” Pauline asks, and I tell her I ended up having lunch with Alpha Dax.

“I also told him who I am. He found the file you gave me, and after hearing what he did to my Luna, I had to tell Alpha Dax the truth,” I say.

All of them start talking at once, each having their own opinion about my secret being out. Each of them has been with me ever since I turned eighteen. Each of them has always known who and what I am, and each of them has always helped me in any way they could.

From keeping tabs on my targets to keeping their men occupied, they always made sure I could do my job, and they will keep doing so until the day they resign or die.

“Maleah, your Father is going to have so many questions. What are you going to tell him?” Pauline asks.

“I am going to tell him the truth. I am not sure if he ever wanted this career for me or if he was disappointed I never got my Lycan. All I know is that he loves me and that he will always love me, no matter what,” I answer Pauline.

Each of my team members was trained by my Father and Colter – both of them the best Assassins I have ever met. Even though I believe Mack is even better than the two of them, but as Fortune points out, he is not better than I am.

My team is very aware of the fact that I belong to Blood Crescent Pack. They are also aware that Blood Crescent Pack is one of the few packs that mostly consists of Assassins, and that our Alphas will accept almost any assignment to kill a Wolf or Lycan that has committed a crime.

The difference with the other packs is that our Alphas will always investigate before taking on an assignment, just as I have been doing all these years. It is one of the many things I have learned by watching my Father as I grew up – not that any of them is aware of it – but most of my training comes from watching my Father and Colter train the Assassins in Blood Crescent Pack.

I started sneaking out to the training grounds at the age of five, not really sure why I wanted to learn how to fight at that age. The only reason I have come up with so far is that somewhere deep down, I knew what kind of life I would lead.

I would watch as the young Pups in our Pack were trained – a training I wasn’t allowed to follow because my Mother believed that as a female, I didn’t need to know how to fight. I think if my Mother ever realized what I have actually done in my life, she would be terrified of me.

I would not only watch as young Pups were trained in how to defend themselves or protect those who couldn’t protect themselves, but I also watched as my Father and

Colter would train the older Assassins – more specifically the ones age sixteen and older. They get taught how to use their ability to the maximum, and I enjoyed watching as they would train and eventually succeed in using their ability the way they were supposed to.

Everything my Dad or Colter mentioned during training I absorbed like a sponge. It is because of following their instructions during those training sessions that I was able to learn how to use my abilities.

Colter would always say: “Trust your Wolf or your Lycan. They will always tell you what you can and cannot do, and always make sure you trust your gut feeling. If something doesn’t feel right, it usually isn’t, and that means you get the fuck out.”

My observations during those training sessions prepared me for the life I lead today – a life only my personal protection detail was aware of. Well, so far, because as of today, Alpha Dax is also aware of who and what I am, and before this week is over, my Father and the leadership of Blood Crescent Pack will all know the truth.

I know that Dad will have a lot of questions when he finds out that I am the one behind the name “Angel of Death.”

When I first heard someone referring to me as the Angel of Death, I wanted to ask them if that was an accurate description. After all, the words “Angel” and “Death” don’t seem like a good combination to me. Knowing why I took out all those males and females, I believe “Angel of Death” wasn’t the most accurate name anyone could have given me.

I am their Judge, Jury, and Executioner. I am the one that will deliver the final justice.

Mack’s p.o.v.

Dax is on his way home, and Maleah will probably return in a day or two. It depends on how things go with her new boutique.

Neither one of them has been willing to say anything about Maleah’s lunch date with her Mother – at least nothing more than the two of them having lunch in her room. Commander nearly lost his shit when he heard she had spent time alone with another male.

She will be home for two weeks straight, and I hope I get to spend enough time with her to let the Mate-bond form. I don’t doubt Commander when he tells me that the connection is there. He has no reason to lie about it. Both of us have been waiting for years to find our Mate, and I feel that it is about damn time that I get mine.
