“Which Pack do you belong to?” Maryan asks him. She isn’t asking because she doesn’t know, she is asking to see if anyone has figured it out yet.
“Black Valley Pack, but currently residing in Gold Moon Pack.” He answers and I see everyone looking at him to continue his story.
“Our Alpha accidentally became the Alpha of Gold Moon Pack and that territory needs his guidance more than Black Valley Pack. My Brother is the future Beta of Black Valley Pack and the future leadership stayed behind to lead for the time being.” Makay continues.
An Omega is serving us coffee, the only thing we get brought to the table by the Omegas during breakfast and lunch.
“The former Alpha made a real mess of the Pack’s paperwork, he didn’t file anything during his reign and my twin Brother is currently trying to make sense of the Pack archive.” Makay says.
The look on his face tells me that he has been in there himself and didn’t like to work in there, but to me that is good news. It will take them a while to figure out that they are missing a Pack-member, because I know that my Father won’t say a word.
“How the hell did he manage to do that?” One of my other team members asks.
Makay tells us about the way his office looked on the day they had arrived and that the Pack archive had been even worse.
“The only reason Myka went down there is because of Elder Morton and some of our Pack-members, according to Myka they had looked rather funny when Beta Rhys informed Elder Morton that all Pack-members were present. Myka believes that we are actually missing a Pack-member.” Makay states.
“Want me to find out more?” I hear Maryan ask in my head and I tell her to find out everything she can.
“Sorry, but I have to take my leave. My exam is in half an hour, I will see you all when I get back.” I say as I get out of my seat.
I hope that Maryan is able to find out a little bit more about what happened back home, I would like to know if someone already screwed up with Alpha Lincoln.
Myka’s p.o.v.
Instead of getting back to the pile of mixed up papers, I start to file every completed file and little by little the archive becomes less cluttered.
I have eaten lunch in the archive, I didn’t want to waste any time and I hope I can start again on looking for a lead on Meadow. Her file is still incomplete and I didn’t find her on the list that Dad gave me, which bugs me to no end.
How can a Pack-member just disappear? There has to be some information on her and who her family is, there has to be some trace of her.
Once I have cleared all the completed files, I turn back to the remainder of the papers I need to sort through.
A red file catches my eye and it is at the bottom of a stack of papers on the left side of the table, I haven’t seen any file within the papers. I carefully grab the file and slowly pull it from under the stack, blocking it with my other arm to make sure it doesn’t start sliding.
My heart skips a beat, when I see Meadow’s name on the outside and I slowly open it. The first thing I see is an attendance form for the Elders’ Renegades, it is signed by Alpha Hank and the request came from Hayden.
Her specialty is listed as Law and History, a great asset for a Warrior and especially if you are a Renegade. The next paper are her grades from school, she was a straight A student and she excelled in Law and History.
I read the rest of the papers in her file and it paints the picture of a smart and talented young female. Her grade list was followed by two letters from her teachers that she had for Law and for History and both letters are addressed to the Alpha, their way of telling him that she was an asset for this Pack.
“What the Fuck.” I say out loud as I turn the page. This has got to be a mistake, this can’t be true.
I grab the file and the other papers I found on Meadow and run out of the archive to the Alpha office, I need to show this to Alpha Lincoln and Dad.
I don’t even knock when I reach the office, I just barge in there and everyone startles at my sudden entrance.
“Sorry, Alpha. I have something you need to see, I finally understand the look Elder Morton gave Beta Rhys.” I say, after I have slammed the door shut and locked it.
“Just tell us.” Alpha Lincoln says.
“Beta Rhys has a Daughter, her name is Meadow and she is sixteen. She is a Lycan, according to her blood test. I haven’t found any information on her Mother yet, but why didn’t Beta Rhys or River tell us that she had left the Pack?” I ask, while Dad is looking through her file.
“She left for Renegade territory, but when?” He asks and at that moment there is a knock on the door.
I unlock the door to allow Hayden to enter the office and I see Dad giving me a strange look.
“Hayden, what can you tell us about Meadow?” I ask him, after locking the door again.
“I don’t think it is my story to tell, but I can tell you that Beta Rhys and River have never treated her as family. She was raised by an Omega, who found her second chance Mate when Meadow was almost fourteen and that is when she moved in with us.” Hayden says.
“Do you know anything about her Mother?” I ask him, I hope that he can give me something to work with.
