Beads of cold sweat formed on Dale’s forehead as he stammered, “I deeply apologize, Ms. Sinclair. It was our staff’s mistake earlier. Please accept my sincerest apologies on her behalf.”
Wendy looked utterly stunned, clearly not expecting Dale to apologize to me.
Lilian, however, couldn’t hold back her fury. Grinding her teeth, she snapped, “Mr. Willment, are you kidding me? Why are you apologizing to her? This dress is Wendy’s pick. You know who Wendy is – she’s the Alpha of the Wild Pack and Mr. Crawford’s most cherished granddaughter! Offending Wendy means offending the
Wild Pack. Do you understand the consequences of what you’re doing? Can you handle it?”
Dale completely ignored Lilian and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. “Ms. Sinclair, as an apology, we’d like to gift you this gown free of charge. I hope you won’t be upset.”
It was clear from Dale’s behavior that he had already received a call from Yura, the head of Loe Studio, informing him that her friend had been treated unfairly at Raveneaux Delux. Yura had likely made it clear that he needed to resolve the issue to my satisfaction – or else.
If not, Loe Studio would terminate its partnership with Raveneaux Delux, a decision made entirely at my direction.
Raveneaux Delux had gone through tremendous effort to secure a collaboration with Loe Studio, and losing it would be a catastrophic blow. Dale was undoubtedly willing to do whatever it took to ensure I left happy and Yura rescinded any talk of ending their contract.
Wendy’s eyes widened in disbelief as she rubbed her ears as though she couldn’t believe what she’d heard. She grabbed Dale’s arm. “Mr. Willment, this gown is worth ten million dollars! Why are you giving it to her for free?”
Dale forced a smile. “I’m sorry, Ms. Crawford, but this dress must be gifted to Ms. Sinclair.”
Wendy’s face darkened. “Mr. Willment, I’ll pay triple the price for it!”
Still bowing slightly, Dale kept his polite tone. “Perhaps you’d like to take a look at some of our other high-end gowns. We have many luxurious options available … “
“I want that one!” Wendy shouted. “I’ve never been denied something I set my sights on!”
Wendy’s unreasonable behavior was becoming tiresome. I had no desire to argue with her any longer. Rising from my seat, I addressed Dale firmly. “No need to gift it. I’ll have someone send over a check tomorrow.”
With that, I turned on my heel and headed for the door.
I had dinner plans with Ryan tonight, and I wasn’t about to let Wendy’s drama make me late.
“Rosaline, stop right there!” Wendy screamed, her voice filled with frustration. “Did you ask Caden to fight your battles for you?”
Seeing her so livid filled me with a sense of satisfaction.
This fool, who only had eyes for Caden, had no idea that I had called Yura instead. She always assumed I was some country bumpkin, incapable of seeking help from anyone other than Caden.
I raised an eyebrow and smirked. “What do you think?”
“Rosaline, you’re shameless! Besides seducing men, what else can you do? Do you think Caden likes you?” Wendy fumed, practically shaking with rage.
I retorted with a smirk, “If he doesn’t like me, then does he like you?”
“You lowly Omega!” Wendy screeched, her expression twisting in fury as I hit a nerve. Her meticulously crafted facade cracked, and she raised her hand to slap me across the face.”
I was ready to fight back, but before I could, Dale stepped forward abruptly, shielding me behind him in a swift, protective gesture.
Caden was the head of the Four Great Packs in Rivemon and the rightful heir of the Eclipse Pack.
He controlled dozens of companies under his name, with a combined market value in the hundreds of billions.
If there was anyone you didn’t want to cross, it was Caden.
It was obvious from Dale’s reaction to Wendy and me earlier that he’d pieced together I had an unusual connection with Caden. That’s probably why he decided to step in.
I patted Dale on the shoulder, signaling that I didn’t need his protection.
Wendy and Lilian, those two low-level nuisances, were no match for me.
But Dale had already called in two werewolf warriors, who stood intimidatingly in front of Wendy and Lilian, blocking their path.
Seeing this, Wendy had no choice but to back down; being from another pack, she knew better than to challenge werewolf warriors – she’d only end up defeated.
“Ms. Sinclair, my sincerest apologies for not treating you better earlier. Please forgive us!”
I chuckled. Dale was proving to be quite perceptive. I decided then and there to give all my future orders to them.
I nodded in acknowledgment, thanked Dale, and turned to leave.
As for Wendy, I didn’t care what conclusions she jumped to. It wasn’t like Caden, with his hectic schedule, would bother with such a trivial matter.
Still, seeing Wendy – that witch – gritting her teeth in frustration filled me with undeniable satisfaction.
Night fell, and by seven o’clock, I arrived on time for my appointment.
Chroma Lounge was Rivemon’s most luxurious bar, a place frequented exclusively by the wealthy and powerful werewolves.
“Rosie! Over here!” Ryan was already in a private booth, drinking and playing drinking games with a group of friends from the entertainment industry.
I smiled as I walked over. “Ryan, your new movie wrapped up so quickly? Congratulations!”
Ryan quickly pulled out a chair for me. “Rosie, sit here. What would you like to drink? How about some red wine? Let me pour you a glass.”
I wasn’t much of a drinker, so I smiled and shook my head. “No thanks, I’ll just have a soda.”
“Come on, just a little bit? Rosie, it’s my birthday today.” Ryan gave me a pleading look as he poured half a glass of red wine for me and a full one for himself. “Rosie, let’s toast.”
“It should be me toasting you. Ryan, happy birthday!” I didn’t decline further and drank it in one go.
“Wow, your drinking skills are impressive!” Ryan clapped his hands theatrically.
We chatted for a while until a beautiful voice floated through the bar, drawing everyone’s attention.
I followed the sound to the stage, where a young woman in a stunning red gown was singing. Her shoulder-length wavy hair and charming demeanor captivated the audience, and her voice was soft and melodious.
“She’s the resident singer here. I think her name is Angel,” Ryan explained.
I nodded. “She’s pretty good.”
Ryan grinned. “Not bad, but she’s nowhere near as good as you. Rosie, it’s been so long since I’ve heard you sing. Why don’t you sing a song for me as my birthday gift?”
His friends joined in, cheering. “Rosie, sing a song for Ryan!”
Ryan looked at me with hopeful eyes. “Rosie, would you?”
When I was 17, my singing left a deep impression on him.
I glanced at the stage in the center of the bar and nodded slightly. “Okay.”
Chroma Lounge allowed customers to request songs. Amid the enthusiastic applause, I slowly made my way to the stage, dressed in an elegant white gown.
“This song is for my dear friend Ryan. Happy birthday!”
As the music began, I parted my lips and began to sing.
The ethereal melody from my voice spread across the entire bar, captivating everyone.
Caden’s POV:
Standing in the dimly lit VIP suite on the second floor, I kept my eyes fixed on the stage, where the radiant girl looked like a goddess descending to earth.
I had come with business partners to discuss a deal, never expecting to see Rosaline here.
I remembered her saying on the phone that she was meeting someone at a bar, but I hadn’t thought much of it at the time. Yet, here she was, meeting Ryan.
One of my associates noticed my darkened expression and quickly tried to curry favor. “Mr. Holbrook, please try this green beer. It’s Chroma Lounge’s latest specialty. The flavor is exceptional … “
I glanced at the green glass in his hand and found it unbearably irksome.
Did Rosaline even realize what she was doing?
She was, in name, my fiancée and the future Luna of my pack. Yet here she was, openly on a date with another man in a bar, even singing for him.
I clenched the glass in my hand, growing more furious with each passing thought. The next thing I knew, the glass shattered in my grip.
My associates froze in shock, panicking as they scrambled to hand me a towel and replace the glass. They assumed they had upset me somehow.
What they didn’t know was that the person angering me was none other than Rosaline.
Rosaline’s POV:
When I finished the song, thunderous applause filled the lounge. Some people even began chanting, “Encore! Encore!”
I smiled politely and stepped down from the stage, returning to our private room.
“Rosie, your singing was incredible! It’s the best thing I’ve ever heard, way better than the resident singer here at Chroma Lounge!” Ryan praised enthusiastically.
