“Which you clearly haven’t done, because how could I have done anything to her, when I was already in heat for a full day before her heat started? I was, in fact, with you the entire day before her heat started was I not. Or did you forget that?”
“I’m not…”
She cut him off, “Yes you are, I can read between the lines, Anthony, as good as you can. Did Christy perhaps state something to you to try and pin this on me? Just like she accused me of lying about being in heat, how she wormed her way into my suite, where I was in heat. How she got you to take her in there just by complaining. Did she do that in the hospital just now? Complain or imply to you, it was my doing?” she accused him right back.
“I explained that.” he stated.
“And now I have explained to you what I did, my reasoning and thought process for why I had Brent prep the medical suite for Christy.” She nodded. “So, you expect me to just believe you, but you won’t believe me, when I’ve in fact laid out facts of the situation, I saw, not just my personal reasons like you did.” She shook her head
“Why even bother questioning me at all? Just believe Christy’s words and thoughts on the matter. Why don’t you just have me taken out and punished with no evidence as to why. I spent three days in agony suffering my heat alone, a full day in the pack hospital myself for recovery of the after affects of you not mating me through my heat. Do you honestly think I would put myself through all of that on purpose?”
“I’m not here to punish you, just…” he scrubbed a hand over his face. “It did seem very convenient that you would set up that suite for Christy.”
“Oh I see, so you are actually accusing me of drugging her, I see. That’s just great, Anthony. At least now I know where I stand in your eyes. Guess I wasn’t wrong about the utter ugliness of things was I.
“But just to let you know if I had drugged her to induce her into heat, not only wouldn’t I do it at the same
time as my own heat, but I wouldn’t bother to ask the pack doctor to look after her afterwards, now would 1.” She shook her head “Why don’t you just wait on the blood results before jumping to stupid conclusions.” She stated coldly.
She picked up those flowers and tossed them in the bin right in front of him and his eyes widened at her actions. She’d never once rejected flowers from him before. “I don’t want flowers from you if you don’t actually mean to give them as a true apology, for leaving my heat unattended, but only to be used to give you a way to come in here and accuse me of harming your other Mate and Luna.
“Something I have never done in the two years of you being mated to her,” she stood. “I’ll take my leave,
Alpha, I’m not in the mood to deal with your ridiculous accusations, when Christy is the one that always comes between you and I, not the other way around.” She stated and walked around her desk on the opposite side to him and out of her office.
Even now, out of that room and away from Christy, knowing he’d abandoned her to suffer alone, he only came here to accuse her of trying to harm his second mate. This really was the utter ugly truth she’d been looking for. He did not care that he’d made her suffer alone, hadn’t come in here all apologetical and hugged her and begged for forgiveness.
No, he just came in with the intent to have her punished for what was likely Christy’s own doing, but she’d somehow made him think it was Mischa who’d done this to her, and so she had to be punished for it and, of course, he would. He only cared for what Christy wanted, there was she now realized no room for herself already within his heart. He had two Mates but only wanted one.
It was going to be up to her to protect and defend herself from now on, and she would do just that, accusations because what he’d just done was accuse her in a roundabout way of treason. Which was a death sentence in this pack, not banished, not marked as a traitor, a full lashing and then death by liquid silver into the veins; of the wolf that was a traitor.
She mind-linked to the pack doctor as she walked, about Christy’s condition and got the run-down. She’d been excessively mated and needed a day or two in the Luna’s medical suite to recover from it.
Christy was more than uncomfortable, She was in pain, he akin it to an abducted she-wolf, and she sighed heavily to herself. It was what she thought, in other words, ‘Didn’t the Alpha contact you and ask you to provide drugs to help suppress it?’
‘No.’ Brent sighed. ‘I honestly don’t know why he didn’t, but you are right he could have done that, or simply left the room to stop himself from mating her… any normal wolf would have done that in fact.’ He murmured thoughtfully.
‘Mm. I thought he would to… he just accused me of doing this to Luna Christy Brent, but… perhaps it was him who did this.’ she mused.
‘Luna, I doubt that very much.’ Brent rushed out.
‘So, what you’re saying is its more plausible that I did this, is it?” she asked right back.
‘No… I… I.’ he huffed now, because he was caught between his Alpha and Luna and didn’t know which way to jump. Ahh, the joys of having one Alpha and two Lunas, she thought absently.
She let it go, just wanted his opinion was all ‘I heard you’re running bloods on Christy. I want you to double-check them please and make certain there is no tampering with the results.’
‘Yes Luna, he stated, and she cut the mind-link as she felt a hand curl around her bare arm and knew it was Anthony. She could feel the sparks of their mate bond.
