“Where are you going?” he asked her, pulling her to a halt.
“A way from the one that I have been loyal to for two decades without fault, yet now is accusing me of inducing a painful fake heat to your other Luna.” She pulled her wrist from his grasp and turned to face him fully. “Why Anthony if you suspected something was wrong, and that overly long heat would cause pain to Luna Christy,
“Wouldn’t you have the pack doctor give her drugs or why wouldn’t you leave that room so as not to harm your own Mate and Luna… It’s odd I think, maybe you did this to her, to get out of attending my heat.” She accused him openly for everyone to hear, including his unit. She could see the Alpha’s office door was open.
“Are you insane? I would never do that.” he rapped out.
“Hmm, I see… So, it’s alright for you to accuse me of the same thing, but not for that very thing to be related to you. No Mate, Anthony wants to harm their Mate. So why didn’t you call the pack’s doctor for help when you knew there was something wrong or off with Christy’s heat…
“That is completely on you now, isn’t it? If she was drug-induced into a heat, and you thought that was a possibility even for a millisecond, and you opted not to get help for her, then you actively chose to ignore that very thing as well.
“In favor of what now? Getting your rocks off, I’m guessing. Not a very nice thing for an Alpha to do to his Luna, whom he professes to love and cherish now, is it?” She shook her head at him. “Is it now more likely that I did this to harm Christy or you did this to have endless days of sex with your preferred Mate? And ignore my heat altogether because you didn’t want to attend to it in the first place.”
“I would never ignore your heat on purpose. I was right there that first day.” He snapped at her, unhappy about her turning the tables on him so effectively. “You’re being completely unreasonable about this.”
“Am I?” she mused aloud. “Where do you sleep every night? How often do we have sex? And whose room do you get up and go back to after you’ve decided to… Oh! I don’t know, entertain our mate bond for what? Half an hour, maybe an hour if I’m lucky?” she asked him directly, letting everyone know just what kind of Alpha they now had.
That yes he was very good to this pack, but only had eyes for Luna Christy. He was just standing there staring at her now and she smiled at him when he couldn’t or wouldn’t answer her questions. “Hmm, I bet I can pull up the pack’s video footage, and prove you do have a preferred Mate and how often or lack there of, you and I have sex anymore, or if you ever even spent a whole night in my suite in the past… Oh! Say 10 months now.” She laid it all out for him.
“Should we take this accusation of yours to the Elders and let them decide, lay it all out for them, as I just did, and see who is the more likely out of the two of us, to have brought harm on purpose to the pack’s Luna. Whether that harm be for myself or Christy as well.”
“You’re being impossible,” he grated out. “Twisting things all up and bringing other unnecessary things into this,” he stated and turned and walked away, heading across the foyer for his Alpha’s office. “We’ll wait for the blood results to come back. And then we’ll take it to the Elders.” He rapped out over his shoulders.
“Alright, I agree wholeheartedly.” She stated right back without hesitation, she’d not done a thing wrong,
Paul, go and watch over those running the blood test to make sure no one tampers with it. We’ll have the Elders there when its opened and read. A full investigation it will be.” she stated.
Anthony stopped walking and turned to look at her. He understood from her statement that she knew she’d done nothing wrong. She smiled at him, then moved her eyes past him to his Beta, “Kendrick, pull up all the footage from when I went into heat until when Christy went into heat. If she was induced in having a heat, I know that it enacts fast. Within what 10 or 15 minutes of being injected, yes?” she asked him.
“Yes, some from 5 minutes, but no later than 15 minutes after being injected,” Kendrick nodded.
“Alright, so anyone seen to be with Luna Christy within that timeframe window prior to her going into heat, please bring in for official questioning Kendrick.”
“Yes Luna.” He nodded.
She looked to Anthony. “There, a full formal investigation. I’ll see you when the results come out,” she stated flatly and walked off down through the packhouse away from him, heading for her new suite.
If she was correct in her suspicions, there was going to be nothing in that blood work at all, only Christy’s own natural hormones would be detected, because she now fully believed Christy had in fact used her own pheromones to induce that heat she’d just come out of.
That blood work coming back clean would indicate it was in fact a natural occurrence, even though the length and severity of it indicated otherwise. That she-wolf was trying to frame her and set her up to have Anthony see her as a traitor and have him not only reject her, but kill her as well.
She, however, wasn’t so dumb as to fall for it. She was twice that bitch’s age and then some, she had plenty of experience in dealing with she-wolf jealousy and the patience to wait it out, until a real hand was dealt with the winning trump card for herself to play.
She was still working on getting that trump card, but it would fall into her hands at some point, and she had a feeling this, here and now, was just the very beginning of getting a hold of it.
She could hold out until that day came, because Anthony nor his wolf caused her pains of betrayal. They’d just stopped spending time with her was all, it had happened gradually and she and her wolf had gotten used to it over time.
Having sex with him was the only thing to trigger real heartbreak emotions within her, and feelings of being unwanted and unloved in them now, and that was because he never stayed more than a few minutes past it being over and done with. So he could go and sleep in Christy’s bed, and she knew that, that very thing was now over and done with.
