Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 28 – Her Pureblood Alpha

That kiss was the spark that ignited everything. Luis’s movements grew more urgent, each thrust feeling like he wanted to consume me whole.

I drifted in and out of intense pleasure, my pleas for him to stop laced with tears. “No, please stop! I really bear with this.”

My voice grew hoarse, and only then did Luis finally cease his actions.

I leaned into his embrace, my body so limp it felt like jelly. I didn’t have the strength to even move a finger, content to be held as my consciousness slowly faded.

When I woke again, Luis was no longer beside me.

I stumbled into the bathroom, and as I lifted the collar of my shirt, I gasped at the sight in the mirror.

My neck and collarbone were covered in a multitude of red marks, some deep, others faint, with even a few faint teeth marks here and there. It was a shocking sight.

Does this guy have a vampire streak?

He certainly likes to leave his mark.

I spent a long time sifting through the closet, finally finding a shirt that could cover the evidence.

As I stepped out of the bedroom, I bumped into Luis coming out of the bathroom in the living room.

He was wearing casual gray pants, his upper body bare. His short hair was wet and slicked back, with water droplets trickling down his jawline, over his sensual Adam’s apple, and onto his firm abs.

He casually ran a towel through his hair, his movements lazy and natural. He was sexy and making it impossible for me to look away from him.

What an incubus!

I cursed to myself, quickly averting my gaze, my ears burning.

Looking at him, so relaxed in my space, I had to wonder – whose house is this again?

Luis’s POV:

Watching Deanna turn her face away, her ears turning red, I couldn’t help but smirk.

It wasn’t the first time I’d seen her like this, but she still got flustered every single time.

I smiled faintly and walked straight to the fridge.

The moment I opened it, my brows pulled together.

Neat rows of frozen sandwiches and microwave dinners filled the shelves. There were no fresh vegetables or cuts of meat available.

“You live on this stuff?” I asked.

She was the Mistbane Pack’s heiress. And this was what she called food?

At Mooncrown Pack, even the lowest-ranked Omegas had meals prepared with care.

Deanna leaned over my shoulder, peeking into the fridge. Her tone carried a hint of defiance.

“My place isn’t like yours, Mr. Eaton. You’ve got a maid and a nutritionist waiting on you.”

I picked up a cheap-looking sandwich, glanced at the label, and grumbled.

“No wonder you barely weigh anything. You’re living off this junk.”

She pursed her lips and rebuked in a low voice, “Did I ask you to touch me?”

I shot her an annoyed look, grumbling under my breath, but still stepped into the kitchen. In the end, I decided to make two plates of pasta.

Deanna’s POV:

I was surprised when he stepped into the kitchen.

A pureblood, respectful Alpha like him is cooking?

I moved to the doorway and leaned against the frame, watching Luis at work.

His tall figure stood out in the sunlight. His natural air of authority clashed with my cramped, outdated kitchen.

Yet, for some reason, seeing him focused like that made me feel oddly calm. Safe, even.

When the food was ready, I couldn’t resist. I ate two full servings.

I had to admit – Luis could cook. Way better than my frozen dinners.

After breakfast, I checked the time. I had to get to the mall for a morning inspection, or I’d be late.

Luis stepped outside first to wait for me. I was about to follow when I remembered I’d left my phone in the bedroom. With a sigh, I went back to grab it.

As I headed toward the door again, the apartment across the hall opened. Jessica walked out in her high heels, her steps sharp and confident.

She was Jillian’s junior. We weren’t close, but we knew each other.

Jessica marched straight up to Luis.

“Sir, are you Deanna’s mate? Let me tell you – last night there was some guy all over her. Don’t get fooled. She may look sweet, but she’s not as innocent as she seems.”

I froze in place, rage flaring in my chest.

I was ready to speak up when Luis’s low, lazy voice rolled out.

“Is that so?”

Jessica’s eyes lit up. She nodded quickly.

“Yes, yes! That guy last night – just like you – he was totally wrapped around her finger. I heard everything from the hallway. The pulling, the whispering, the laughter. They were far too close.”

Luis let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Two men in one night? Still better than you spending every night alone.”

Jessica blushed deeply in response to his rebuke.

“How can you say that? I was trying to warn you. She’s tricking you, and you don’t even see it. Your mate could be cheating, and you’d never know.”

Luis barely lifted his eyes. His voice was calm, almost lazy. “I like her. Even if she lies to me, I still like her.”

Like!

That word made my heart skip in my chest.

Did he just say … he likes me?

Jessica snapped, her tone sharp and cruel.

“You really are blind. You are falling for a she-wolf with a messy life. She’s a slut. Aren’t you afraid of catching something?”

Luis’s expression darkened instantly. He took a step closer, his voice low and dangerous.

“I don’t hit women. Don’t make me break that rule.”

Jessica flinched, her whole body trembling. She didn’t dare say another word. Her heels clicked in a panicked rhythm as she bolted for the stairwell, too scared to even wait for the elevator.

All the way down to the parking garage, I couldn’t focus.

Luis’s voice kept echoing in my head – the tone, the look in his eyes – it replayed over and over like a recorder.

Then reality hit me. I shook my head with a bitter smile.

Are you a fool? Who is Luis, really?

He is an Alpha, powerful and untouchable. She-werewolves lined up every day for his attention. There was no way he could truly like me.

No. He only wants my body. He told me that we are a good match in bed.

That had to be it. It couldn’t be real. I couldn’t let myself believe it.

I told myself again and again not to believe it. And yet, no matter how hard I tried to convince myself, my heart still raced wildly out of control.

Deanna’s POV:

I was lost in thought and didn’t notice the wall in front of me.

Suddenly, a warm hand slipped around my waist.

I flinched, snapping back to reality. When I looked up, Luis was staring at me with a teasing glint in his eyes.

“W-what’s wrong?” My voice sounded shaky.

“What were you thinking about? You almost walked into the wall.”

I glanced at the wall just a few feet away, and my cheeks heated. “Thanks,” I mumbled.

He raised a brow. “You think you can drive?”

His hand was still resting on my waist, the warmth seeping through my thin blouse. A car rolled past in the parking lot, making me even more aware of how close we were. I instinctively stepped back, putting space between us.

I hesitated, then gathered my courage and looked at him.

“Luis, last night was an accident. We’re both adults. Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen.”

The moment the words left my mouth, his expression darkened.

“So what you’re saying is … last night was just a one-night stand?”

His tone carried no emotion, but the weight of it pressed down on me until my chest tightened.

I couldn’t bring myself to meet his eyes. I dropped my gaze in silence.

Luis let out a sharp laugh. “Figures. Once you put your clothes on, you act like you don’t know me – that’s just your style.”

My lips parted; I wanted to rebuke him, but no words came out. All I could do was watch as he turned and walked away, his back cold and unyielding.

By the time I got to the mall for inspections, I still couldn’t shake the angry look on Luis’s face. The thought left me both frustrated and upset.
