“Why do you have to go?” Nycta looked at Dacre with tears in her eyes. She then glanced at her sister, Rose. She was standing not too far from them, looked calm as ever. “You can ask someone else on your behalf to take care of this matter, you don’t need to go. There are hundred of people that you can choose. There is no need for you to go there on your own.”
Dacre knew this would be Nycta’s reaction once she heard about his departure to River Creek pack.
“Yes, there are many people that can go on my behalf.”
“But?” Nycta gritted her teeth to hold back her anger.
“But, there is only one king.”
Leonard knew this conversation would be long, thus he gestured for Rose to leave the room, especially when he could see the look on the queen’s eyes. She suspected it was Rose’s idea to make the king left the palace, which was true.
The royal beta didn’t agree with this plan, but Dacre had different opinion. The king might not as skill as the alpha, but he knew how to choose his people, after all, he had been using Khaos’s intelligence for his own benefit all this time.
“The queen will be more upset once she learned that I will go with the king too.” Rose opened a conversation with Leonard once they were out of the room, leaving Dacre and Nycta to sort out their problem.
Leonard glanced at her. “Your plan is too risky. It’s ridiculous. The king doesn’t need to be there.”
“That’s where you are wrong, royal beta Leonard,” Rose said with her sweet tone. “You may think so highly about king status, but there will no kingdom or king without people. Why do you think the alpha opened the gates for people and distributed the food supplies?”
Leonard didn’t answer that and Rose didn’t wait for him to respond to her rhetorical question as she continued her monologue.
“You underestimate the power of people, beta. Have you forgotten that even the strongest shifter, the old dynasty of the lycan empire, crumbled within days when the people gathered together to take it down?”
Leonard looked shock when he heard that and got the meaning behind what Rose’s words, while she smiled sweetly at him.
“I might be wrong in this, but I think alpha Khaos is most likely used the same method.” Rose flicked her hair. “With the way King Dacre ignored the people’s suffering due to the lack of food supply, we can tell that the king underestimated the people’s strength and Alpha Khaos used that mishap. Using the people’s disappointment to make them turn against their king.”
“That’s not like alpha Khaos’s method.” Leonard was impressed by the way Rose dissected the situation, but he had worked with alpha Khaos for long, thus he knew how he used to handle the situation.
Alpha Khaos had never used massive people like this before, he used to work discreetly.
And Leonard was also right about that, because the original idea didn’t come from Khaos, but a little black beast, who was nipping on the white beast’s heel.
Zuri was upset because she couldn’t even land a good attack on Khaos. Her retaliation was also a futile attempt, once the majestic white beast pinned her down on the ground.
“It’s not fair!” Zuri shifted back into her human form when the white beast rendered her unable to move.
Khaos shifted back into his human form too and helped her to stand up. He smirked.
“Why it’s not fair?” Khaos held back his laugh to see how upset Zuri was.
Her beast was way smaller than him, obviously, but she was very fast. She could dodge attack very swiftly, not to mention her agility and sharp instinct, but Khaos could read her movement and he was a well trained lycan with the same natural killing instinct like her.
“It’s not fair,” Zuri repeated the same thing, she frowned, trying to find an excuse. “Your beast is bigger than me.”
Khaos laughed at that absurd reason. He leaned over and kissed her lips, while Gayle and Caiden took interest at the bleak sky above their head.
They were worried something out of control could happen, but ten minutes into the training, they felt ridiculous to even feel that way, because all the time, the the alpha looked like he was teasing her, playing with her.
The difference in their body sizes was very obvious, especially because the color of their fur was the opposite of one another, it was pleasant to see, but this was not the training that the two of them expected.
“I can’t make my beast smaller, but you can make your beast bigger.” Khaos brushed away the dirt from her face. “You need to eat more.”
“Don’t talk to me like I am a child.” Zuri swatted his hand away and tugged her hair. She could tell that Khaos wasn’t even serious when he fought her. He was very strong and his every movement was precise.
“Then don’t be a bitter loser,” Khaos said lightly, which made Zuri growled at him. She was rather competitive and Gayle already knew this side of her when they trained together.
“I waste my time here…” Caiden grumbled. He stretched his body and yawned.
“Go back first, I need you at the gates,” Khaos said. He patted her head and nudged her to leave with Gayle, but Zuri looked at him, as if she wanted to say something. “Hm?”
“I want to train with you again. I heard you are good with sword.” Zuri then glanced at Gayle. “There is no point of training if I can beat my partner all the time.”
“Ouch, that’s hurt.” Gayle scrunched his nose, but he had to admit that after a few weeks, he was not suitable to train with her anymore. There was nothing he could teach her.
Meanwhile, Caiden laughed out loud when he heard that. He agreed with Zuri and had witnessed it with his own eyes.
“Sure,” Khaos said. “Now, change your clothes. I will wait at the gates.”
Zuri then left with Gayle. It happened naturally, as Gayle became not only her partner in training, but also her personal warrior.
“Khaos, are you sure, you want to train her? I think she is already strong enough,” Caiden said with serious expression this time once Zuri and Gayle left.
“Hm. I like my woman strong and smart.”
All this time, Khaos was the one, who plotted everything for Dacre and the king was not stupid, he must have familiarized himself with his method, therefore having Zuri to suggest him with a few ideas was a welcome change that he needed.
One thing about Khaos, he listened and was open to any opinions.
“About the curse…” Caiden started.
“We will talk about that later.” Khoas cut him off.
The gamma didn’t say anything, but he had expected this. The alpha was too attached to the Shell. It could cause trouble in their future plan.

Nycta was upset because Dacre would go for weeks to River Creek pack and it was not sure when he would return, he only said that he would be back before the baby was born.
However, what made Nycta even more furious was the fact Rose came with him. Dacre had explained to her in a gentle way, but all she could hear was how he praised Rose for being smart, she was a strategist. Someone that he needed to fill Khaos’s position.
Nycta knew her sister was smart, among the four of them, Rose was the closest to their father. She was involved of some of their father and brother’s project and discussion.
Yet, when Nycta stood there, watching them leaving the palace… she felt a great sense of betrayal.
People might think she cried because she didn’t want to be away from the king, but in truth, Rose’s presence bothered her the most.
“Don’t be silly. I will not do something like that.” Dacre kissed her lips after hearing her concern. “She is your sister, I am not going to disrespect you that way.”
Nycta didn’t believe that. She remembered how men with high status would have a few mistresses here and there, let alone a king like Dacre. Albeit, Nycta had never heard he took a mistress even when he was with Rimera, it didn’t sit well with her.
