The doctor left a while ago, giving me the privacy to rest while the two nurses stayed behind as they made sure to ‘supervise’ me in case I needed anything.
My heart raced with each second that passed as I processed the fact that I left the house, and not only that, but the idea of something happening to lead Elton here was a lot scarier than anything that I could think of. If anything, the last thing that I would want to deal with was an angry Elton. I could barely take him when he was in his normal state.
I ran my fingers through my hair and took a deep breath. He wouldn’t think that I was here, I am sure of it. The man wouldn’t believe that I would come to the enemy, hell, I doubted that he would consider me knowing about him to begin with.
“Do you want to drink anything?” One of the nurses asked, and I couldn’t help but jump as I didn’t expect anyone to be speaking to me. The woman’s eyes widened in surprise and she took a step back, not wanting to frighten me, but I shook my head, not wanting her to feel weary about it. If anything, I was thankful for her kind gesture.
“I am fine, thank you.” I said, my voice above a whisper as I answered her. She studied my expression for a few seconds before nodding.
Both nurses looked at one another then at me, and I couldn’t help but feel somewhat small in front of them. The fact that both women seemed to be judging how fidgety I was made me feel somewhat more insecure and worried about this, but I knew that I had to suck it up and convince myself that I was now safe.
I wasn’t going to be dealing with the abuse that I dealt with on a daily basis, and more specifically, he didn’t even know where I was to inflict it to begin with.
I went to open my mouth to speak only for the door to open, catching me off guard. Liana walked inside, her expression studied mine for a second, before she nodded.
“Alpha Killian has assigned your duties and your room. Follow me,” she said, nodding at me to get up. I nodded, and ignoring the pain that was on my knees, I got up from the bed and walked toward her. I didn’t even know that it would be painful to set my foot on the ground as I did. The fact that the cuts were untended to before made them a lot more bearable to deal with as I didn’t focus on them. If anything, I was more focused on the fact that I managed to run away, but sitting on the edge of the bed for the past hour, I couldn’t help but find myself worrying more and more as time went by, and that was something that I didn’t like.
“You will be showering and changing your clothes now. I asked the doctor, and he told me that the bandage was waterproof and you could shower with it.” She said, and I nodded.
“I don’t have any clothes with me…”
“You will be wearing a maid’s dress on duty, and you can settle to wearing them with no apron when it is time for you to rest. When you get your first salary, you can buy yourself clothes to wear to sleep and when in your room or on your break days.” She said, looking at me over her shoulder as I walked one step behind her. “You are going to be in charge of Alpha Killian’s suite. His clothes, ironing, and washing, would be on you to do. His meals if he wishes to eat alone, and his closet which is to be tidied.”
I nodded in response, doing my best not to stir or anger the woman who I knew was still keeping a careful eye on me, and though I couldn’t blame her, I couldn’t help but feel somewhat worried about how she would act around me.
“You are going to be under Alpha Killian’s supervision, Eleanor.” She said, making me frown in confusion as I was caught off guard. The last thing that I expected was to have the Alpha personally supervise me. Then again, I wouldn’t have expected to reach this point. “He does not accept mistakes, and I will warn you, he is meticulous about his things. Therefore, I do suggest that you keep that in mind when it comes to your duties. In your free time, if it is not on your assigned breaks, you will come to help me in the kitchen. It would help you learn the recipes of the food that the Alpha prefers, and if the Alpha ever wants to eat alone, you would know how to and what to serve him. Unless he gives you permission to fall asleep when he is not around, you are to wait to tend to his needs if he informs you that he would be late, and that would include serving him something to eat.”
I nodded as we reached the door leading to the staircase of his suite. I couldn’t tell her that things were not much different with Elton. The man could have me standing for hours to simply serve him a glass of wine if he wanted, and I was forced to comply. Even leaning on one leg if I grew tired of standing was not allowed, and taking a seat if not permitted led to punishments that I did not like dealing with.
“You needn’t worry, Liana, I will do my best to satisfy and not piss the Alpha.” I said, and she nodded.
“I hope so,” she said, and I smiled. “Your room is this one, you will be staying here. Your clothes would be sent in a few minutes and there are fresh towels and toiletries in the bathroom. The pillows, blanket, and duvet are in the closet, so you can prepare your bed. Get some rest for the evening, you start working tomorrow.”
“Yes, ma’am.” I said, politely. She studied my expression for a few seconds, noticing that I relaxed somehow, and I had to admit, even I didn’t understand why my wolf seemed to be at ease despite the situation that we were in. However, I did relate it to the fact that she might have been relaxed knowing that we would no longer be as abused as we were.
To say the least, I didn’t mind working. It was a lot better than being taken advantage of.
Liana turned to leave, knowing that she had given me her instructions before looking at me over her shoulder. Her eyes met mine for a brief moment before she spoke her last sentence as three maids arrived with two small bags of clothes.
“Waking hour is at six sharp, I expect you to be in the kitchen to start learning how to prepare the Alpha’s coffee and breakfast. He would request them when he wakes up…”
Killian:
I walked inside the suite as Liana was walking out of it.
She smiled and nodded at me, and I returned the nod, giving her a quick smile before turning to the maids who were with her. Her eyes hardened as she turned to look at them, her expression was one filled with authority, reminding them of their places in front of their Alpha, and her position as their headmistress.
They all lowered their gazes at the sight of me, and I nodded at them to leave before going inside.
The day was long enough as it was, and I had to admit, the number of things that I still needed to tend to for the week gave me a headache, especially since I knew that I would need to get them done before the auctions started next month.
The number of people who were coming required me to be attentive, forcing them to keep in mind that there was one Pakhan in the area, and I wasn’t planning on sharing my grounds with anyone else. The likes of Elton were plenty, and the Bernardi family who were gathering for the wedding tomorrow didn’t make things any easier, but I knew that I would be able to tend to them. The message was already delivered, and Elton would know better than to try and challenge me when I have said a word.
