Chapter 7 – Alpha Killian

“Liana, to what do we owe the honor?” The man, the doctor, asked, smiling at her.

“This is Alpha Killian’s new maid. I want her checked on, and she is injured.” She said, nodding at my knees. The doctor frowned and nodded before guiding me to sit on the bed. Liana stood as she watched, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked at me.

My heart raced against my chest as I took a seat, and it wasn’t until the nurses started tending to my knee that she spoke, making my heart drop as she spoke, voicing out her question.

“So, how about you start by telling me who you are? We will proceed with the rest of the questions as we go…”

Killian:

Vladimir and I sat in the office, reading through the reports that had arrived from the clubs earlier before calling it a night.

I knew that it was Liana, and considering the fact that mom and dad left New York to head to Moscow for the next few months, I knew that she would be reporting to me about the new maids who arrived.

“Alpha,” she said, nodding at me and I nodded back at her. She smiled at both Vladimir and I, and we both got up to greet her. The woman has raised us up alongside our mothers, and therefore, we both treated her as a mother.

I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her before kissing the crown of her head. Vladimir took her hand in his and kissed her knuckle.

“How are you, Liana?” I asked, motioning for her to take a seat. She smiled and sat down as I walked to the coffee table that I had and made her a cappuccino. She wasn’t the type to drink alcohol, and I didn’t force her into something that she didn’t like.

“I am fine, son, and how are the two of you? You have been busy lately and I haven’t been seeing you around the house as much.” She said, and I smiled as I got her the cup. I put it on the coffee table in front of her and sat on the chair that was beside Vladimir, dropping the boss and Alpha cape. She wasn’t one that I used it on. If anything she spent more time with me than my own mother did when she was busy tending to things with my father.

“We are both fine, you know that we tend to get stoked up with work at this time of year. Plus, there is the fact that the Bernardi family were here, so it was a little busier than usual.” I said, and she nodded. She knew of the rivalry between both families. If anything, she has been working for the family even before dad married mom. That was around forty years ago, but asking her to retire was not something that she took. Therefore, I just chose to have her dealing with the easier things around the house.

“I hear that you hired a woman as your personal maid?” She asked, raising an eyebrow and I smirked. Vladimir shook his head, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked away from her.

“Yes, I did. Eleanor,” I said and she nodded.

“The girl has been checked and her wounds tended to, though the doctors did instruct that she take it easy until her knees have healed. Is anything that you would like her to do in specific? Where she would be staying?” She asked, wanting to get all the information. I knew that she had more questions about the situation, but I also knew that she wasn’t the type to ask a lot about things that I didn’t expose. It was a silent rule in the house, and that was something that kept it standing.

“She would be tending to my floor. The two of us know that I don’t trust anyone entering, and I want you to relax, Liana.” I said, knowing that she wasn’t going to like it. “I know that you are going to tell me otherwise, but having one person to tend to the job would ensure that we know where things are and who we were to speak to if something goes wrong. I can’t keep asking you to keep standing on your feet to monitor the maids who are working on a daily basis whenever they enter my bedroom.”

“Killian, I was never one to object.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest. I smiled and got up from my chair before heading to her, getting on my knees in front of her as I took both of her hands in mine. I kissed both her knuckles and she sighed.

“Liana, you and I both know that you are not as young as you used to be, and that you need to rest. I am not saying retire, that is something that I can’t afford to risk asking, nor do I want to lose your touch around the house.” I said, smiling at her. “Plus, no one would know how to cook your famous lasagna and that isn’t something that I want to miss.”

She laughed and put her hand on my cheek, and I leaned in to her touch before taking her hand in mine and kissing her palm. She smiled at my gesture and I looked her in the eye, “but I want you to start resting a bit, let someone else help, and we would be making the job easier for you as well. You and I both know that you need it.”

“What if she ends up messing up? Or if she…?”

“We all know that I am not a person who would let things slide easily. I would know how to punish her if needed, but she would be under my care and supervision here.” I said, stopping her. She raised an amused eyebrow at me but nodded, choosing not to dwell on the subject. “As to answer your question, she would be staying in the room that is in front of my suit. She would be free to roam in the house on her breaks just like everyone else, and would even join you for lunch. You can have her help you with cooking if you find that she is free, and she would be the one in charge of my laundry as well.”

“As you wish, Alpha.” She said, and I smiled and kissed her palm again before getting up to head to my desk. I knew that she would still keep her under her supervision. Nothing really escaped Liana within the house, and it was one of the things that dad loved about her long before she became his friend and family. She was my mother’s best friend when she was sent as a bride to the family, and if anyone taught mom and Lena anything about the family and how she was to deal with everything here, it was Liana.

“Now for the other girls, how did you find them?”

Eleanor:

I sat on the edge of the bed of the infirmary as I took a deep and slow breath, trying to process what just happened between Liana and I.

The way she looked at me, her questions, and even her glares. All that played in my head and I couldn’t help but feel somewhat anxious about her suspecting anything about me.

It couldn’t be possible that she was, right?
